  1. River Rats formula is 10 beats off for me. On the low side. That means if I use it I will be under training. I really suggest doing an accurate test if you can afford it if you are serious about training. Where are you based?
  2. It would definitely help the sheep balance easier. when being pushed around.
  3. Is the frequency for old people lower than that of younger people or are all bands the same?
  4. But mine works. I can now squat 480kg as before I could only do 270.
  5. I agree with that to a certain degree and that is why Powermeters are better training tools than HRMs. HRMs can hoever be used effectively during shorter intervals if you start the intervals at an already elevated heart rate. Intervals under 90sec are almost impossible with a HRM though as yeah it does not stabilize and you are either going to hard or too soft in the first minute.
  6. If they tested it on a bike then that may be the case. Before I got lab tested I never even got my running heart rate above 200. Not even during 5000m on the track where we went through the last 400m at a sprint of like sub 60sec.
  7. I think it is a disgrace to ask for a discount when CWC is already giving such low prices. I agree with covie. If you have a good relationship and they offer you a discount then great. Otherwise pay what you owe them unless it is a negotiation because you can get it cheaper elsewhere or are paying cash and save them on the credit card transaction. Can't go through life always expecting to receive, receive, receive, otherwise you will never have good relationships.
  8. Why do you have to post negative comments here regarding refund and availability when you are still waiting for an answer? No need for that as they will attend to it I am sure.
  9. I hope you said thank you???
  10. I think you just never understood what he said. He said he has stock of the chain and not of the tool at the moment. That means he cannot get the derailler for you as he cannot offer it to you.
  11. This is the perception and ties in with what I said above. Running you can hit max much easier as you pretty much have high "load" when you run, which you only get when you push big power on the bike. But one thing is clear, a max heart rate is a max heart rate and is gentically set. It can vary slightly for reasons such as fitness, sickness, etc, but only by a few beats.
  12. I can tell you now you are going to struggle to get to your max heart rate on the road. I have done extensive testing on the road and at various high performance centres with an olympic level coach for the past 3 years and I have never got close to my max on the road. Highest on road ever achieved in testing, intervals and max heart rate tests was 197. In a proper lab set-up whereby you can increase your power incrementally until VO2max and beyond for heart rate in terms of time I hit a 206. That is nearly 5% difference and a big difference when it comes to intervals. There is also another thing to consider, as you get fitter you lactate heart rate increases as you are effectively becoming more efficient. So, if you want an accurate max heart rate test I suggest you either spend the R300-R500 at one of the University or Sport Science labs and also get your current lactate heart rate or you do the test on an indoor trainer by simulating a lab test. If you have a power meter or can borrow one it will be great. You will however need to repeat the test every 8 weeks or so as your lactate heart rate will shift as you progress through the season. Are you with a coach now?
  13. As for you, ek sal vir jou onder die Tafel drink. Sies man! Waar is jou mind! Jy is seker die naweek gutter gery!
  14. I will eat all of you under the table!!!!!!!
  15. Why is the valve holographic? I think that 26" would only fit around my thigh. Does Powerbalance have a kidney belt option?
  16. Being built in the same factory does not mean they are of the same quality from either a design or material point of view. I am not saying the are good or bad, just that you cannot use that as a comparison. It is like saying the Opel Corsa Lite is a fantastic car because it was built in the same factory as the Hummer.
  17. Has anyone else bought frot milk these past 4 weeks even though the due date is still to come. I bought 2 bottles in Stellenbosch like this, then a bud of mine bought one here when I visited him here in PE and then another mate who was with said he had bought 2 in the past week. Is there something going on with milk at the moment?
  18. Damn, just realized they would all cancel each other out. Do you have Mu-Metal shields to go with them? Price please?
  19. I am a big bloke so my natural frequency should be higher: Fn = (k/m)^0.5 and since my m is far greater than the population average with the same k, is this why the Powerbalance band does not work for me? I fell over when I put one on. I think as I weigh twice as much as everyone else I may need to buy 4. One normal one and then 3 that are 90, 180 and 270 degrees out of phase with the first. That way it will have the same frequency in its combined state. Can you give me a bulk discount?
  20. That is the point of the system. Stronger riders move up and weaker riders move down. It would be unfair for a CAT 2 rider who should actually be a CAT 1 rider to walk away with prize money every week. In any case, you will see, it is not going to be as easy as it seems to jump categories and the level will definitely be raised as now everyone wil be racing, not just sitting wheel waiting to sprint after all the elites have done all the work at the front.
  21. Whether 2nd hand or new I would recommend going carbon, tubbies, with at least a 48mm section and insure them. You will know what I mean when you put a set of these on youur bike. You feel a big difference when compared to a normal set of training wheels when you sprinting, climbing. Most aero wheel on the market at the moment are the HEDS. I think they are 60mm deep. There was a big test conducted in the USA where they came out tops above all the good wheels including Zipp and they are pretty light. My training partner who raced with the old Subway Pro Team rode with them and he swore by them, not to mention he has ridden almost half the wheels out there. I would seriously consider these. Most important things to check on 2nd hand wheels: Carbon breaking surface is in good condition with some life left. Tubby surface is good as I have seen rims where the surface actually peels away when well glued tyres are ripped off. Wheel is still true. Obvioulsly no cracks or repair marks. Wheels spin freely with no "coursness" when held in fingers. There is no play when inserted into a frame. You will feel this by rocking the wheel from side to side and will feel the play. Flex is normal when you test this though. Check the spokes/nipples are not corroded shut. This will make it very difficult to true any rims or may mean having to replace a whole lot of spokes and nipples. Check the freewheel runs nicely and does not have any side to side play. Good luck man! I must be honest though, there is nothing as nice as buying a nice new set of race wheels and sticking them on your bike for the first time and then heading out on the road.
  22. Best is to contact Shimano USA or Japan directly on their website.
  23. If I caught a guy like that I would break his arms and legs so he could never even try it again. Then I would put his eyes out.
  24. Why do fun riders then do fun rides? I love playing with fun riders. Especially those with nice cleavage. Just kiddign hey!
  25. Now you just spoilt the mood! Its ok Johan, he just used a wrong word. We will keep this thread on topic and excuse the S word.
