  1. Did 6 months of Aikido when I was in the US last season. The first thing they teach you is how to fall properly and how to fall from pretty much any position. The martial arts training is based in throwing and being thrown and therefore it is important to learn how to fall correctly to avoid injury during training. Best thing I ever learnt for a crash situation as it becomes pretty natural even after only a few months. I would suggest some private lessons with a local Sensei if you don't have the time to attend classes regularly. Best of all is of course not to fall! :0
  2. Gotta love my wife, she asked me a short while back if I would prefer to get something for my cycling or maybe rather put some of the money toward helping the local SPCA. I said I had enough cycling gear and it would be a good thing to rather help out the local SPCA with some extra chow for the holiday season when they get all the leave behinds from people who go on holiday and abandon their pets. Anyway, ends up going to drop off the food and comes back with a "gift" for christmas. I nearly freaked out, but thought I would keep quiet rather than spoil the holiday. Here is what she got us. First day out.
  3. Depends which inflation you look at. Most people believe there employers who offer them the single digit increase. But few know that true inflation is dependent on the city/town you live in and the factors directly linked to the necessities. That figure is around 15-17%.
  4. Old trick from the local importers. Dollar goes up, prices go up. Dollar comes down, LBS and importers say they bought there stock at high exchange rate so can't drop. Like 3 months ago when the dollar was at R6.40 compared to the R8.20 or so it is now. Didn't see a change in pricing then.
  5. Hi Everyone! To make this Christmas maybe a little bit more jolly for some, I am reducing the price of all my socks shown in the classified to R100 a pair. That is basically my cost price so Merry Christmas to everyone! Remember to travel safely, buckle up, take your time. Regrds, The Break
  6. You guys are paying too much for tyres. See some stock I have on sale at the moment. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/4429-christmas-sale-tyrestires-chains-and-cassettes/
  7. I can sum it up like this, each year my wife asks me where we are going to go on holiday. I say inside or outside SA? She replies, inside, don't want to spend too much money. I answer, but love, we are already live in the nicest part of SA and the most popular holdiay spot, where would we go. She only laughs and then asks if she can rather spend the holidays budget on some new clothing. Works every year and i cannot argue with it. Gotta love her for it!
  8. Dear Santa I forgot, they apparently come in sets. Please please please. Oh and don't forget to deflate the tyres before you get the sled up to altitude.
  9. Wannabe, what is everyone on about the wind blowing in the western cape. Wind never blows in Stellenbosch. Ok, maybe 3-4 times a year.
  10. Dear Santa I have been a good boy! Please can I have a bicycle for Christmas. I have attached a pic.
  11. Picture from my house. This is why I love the western cape!
  12. Been riding look pedals for 5 years now. They are a very good product lineup and very high quality in general. I would say better pedals than shimano pedals. I have ridden both. If you PM me what you want I can always give you a good price.
  13. Dude you must be seriously low on gray matter. If you knew anything about business you would know that any retailer whether they be Edgars, Sportsman's Warehouse, Solomons or freakin Janjiras Motor spares run a "large" % profit on their items. You surely know nothing about all the overheads and expenses that go into a business. Also, businesses are there to make money, not scrape by. Look at the USA, UK, Eurozone. They have close out and winter sales each year where everything is massively discounted and everyone knows it. But people still willingly buy at normal season prices because they want it now. The fact that you are bitter about paying more than 1c more than wholesale price is your problem, not ours and I think I speak for everyone here when I say the crap attitude you show toward someone who has been robbed is below basic human principals and ethics, of which you seem to be an expert. So on behalf of all of us shut up (i hope) either say someone relating to the robbery that is helpful to the situation or simply shut up because no one like people with your attitude.
  14. Bitterness is as bad thing. If you were prepared to pay 22k for the wheels then that was your choice. Dropping the price by 9k, that was CWC's choice. The profit they make is also their choice and will largely depend on the success of their store. Seen as they are by far the cheapest around I would say the opposite to your comment of fking the cycling world, they are actually improving the local cycling world by forcing others to either drop their prices or struggle. So maybe you should take your bitter attitude somewhere else because your is a **** one in this case!
  15. There are 44-47 in everything except white and black, but I can get. I can also get the 9", just was not sure how many guys ride them. Thought I would start with these and see how they sell first, but point noted, next shipment will have the 9". Thanks!
  16. Anyone seen the 5 finger socks? I got some for someone here on the HUB when I was in USA. Injinji I think. Wierd!
  17. Thanks, have updated ads. Will try and find some nice pics of others short of me having to try them on and take a pic of my foot.
  18. Thanks, will see what I can get. If you mean plain black I will chat to my mate in Shanghai. Really good pricing that side.
  19. I would say they are a mid height sock. Not as high as the De Feet I have seen. See pic. Will check on De Feet, but from those I have seen they are not cheap. But nice!
  20. If the price suites you, I would suggest some of the Castelli 44-47 as they will fit especially if you like the low cut. I wear a 44, but wear the 41-43 wihout stretch. The 44-47 is a bit big on my foot, but the ankle is just right. The 44-47 should be good for you.
  21. Guess that depends on the wearer, I know guys who spend 4-5K on a pair of shoes just for the look, so a nice pair of socks would surely not be too pricy at 100 or so bucks. If you really keen though I can get you a pair of Marino Wool Castelli for 16pounds plus 54% import duties and postage. Now that is crazy! But hey, you get guys who buy them.
  22. Hi Jaco No shop. I made some good contacts when I raced overseas and just buy for myself when I need and get some extra whilst I am at it which I sell at a small markup in order to "sponsor" my cycling. Expensive hobby we have here. PM me what you need and I will sort you out.
  23. Hi Guys I have just uploaded a number of different socks to the classified section I got from a contact I picked up in Italy. I am wanting to get some more stock over so please let me know what you would want to see "on the shelves?" Socks are not typically cheap that I import, more of the speciality socks that cost a bit, but if you would like to see a more budget sock or even a really nice sock like the Marino Wool Socks let me know and I will try source. Regards, The_Break
  24. Thanks guys, looks like the flow is not accurate then for a set up and go. Mine was reading about 15% too high at a guess. We calibrated on a cold setup. Will try warm next time. Thanks for the advice. I am thinking of doiing future testing using a powertap to correlate data afterward, but I guess paying for the lab is probably the most accurate. Guess thats why their equipment costs so much.
