  1. Only those fortunate enough to have worn the real thing will know the difference cause there is a big difference in the actual feel and fit.
  2. Good stuff! 105 member votes. Stats starting to look a little more stable. Keep them coming!
  3. Anymore votes coming through?
  4. Sorry what what what what what DO you guys hear an echo in here here here here
  5. Yes you are right, I phrased that incorrectly. What I should have said was that the guys who do well financially and work hard with little time to train, often buy nicer bikes, but don't necessarily have the fitness to ride in the top bunches. I think my point was just that it is normally the hard working business owners who put in loads of hours at the grind that can buy the Pinos and Velos, but have to carry a bit of a Boepo around too. :0
  6. Buy yourself a set of the yellow Swiss Stop brake pads and you only have to worry when they wear out totally. You can use them with any braking surface and they don't pick up bits of alu that will damage your carbon rims.
  7. Interesting to still see some gaps. Maybe these will fill up some with more votes. I do definitely think that the guys who take careers more seriously have more bucks to spend. Then there are those that work cleverly so as to have the bucks and the time to cycle more. Know a few guys who consult just to be able to do that. Loads of bucks and time to buy and train and still afford everything else.
  8. Ran out of options so just put where you would most probably be if forced out of those cats. Only 20 per question available.
  9. Geez, couple of big figures coming i there!
  10. Training is relatively simple: Long slow distance to build your aerobic base Then you increase the intensity to make that aerobic base more efficient Then you use high intensity to make the perceived effort less during a race as you are more used to the pain. Get enough rest during al phases to allow the body to recover and adapt to the change in training loads. Then repeat, repeat, repeat, etc block, season. So to answer your question, yes, shorter session can be good if done at the right time of year and at the rigth intensity with correct rest before and after.
  11. Hi Would be interesting to see if there is a clear trend and what your thoughts are if there is. Is it partly due to better performing bikes or just that the better riders put more money toward there passion/sport?
  12. At that price you may as well import one. Personally I would go Specialized just for the look, but then again Giro is also an awesome helmet. I am sure you can get cheaper prices on all those though?
  13. The one that you like more. You can worry about upgrading later as there is a whole lot of money still needed till you will ever be 100% satisfied and will feel a big improvement from fancy equipment. And then only till the next new thing comes out. I would personally go for the Giant, just because it is a Giant.
  14. Where is this referenced from? 10mm vs 0.7in looks a bit suspect.
  15. Campy Shamal Ultra
  16. And Vittorias you can pump to 10BAR!!!!!!! My favorite!
  17. Personal opinion is to go for min 48mm and max 60mm deep sections. For road racing this is a good depth as deeper does not offer that much of an advantage unless you off the front solo for 40-50km. Check out how stiff they are as this affects sprinting and cornering. I would recommend tubbies if youu can afford R500 plus a puncture and don't go cheap on tubbies as then there is no real point with having a poor high rolling resistant rubber compared to the more expensive lower rolling resistant ones. Another great thing about tubbies is that when you puncture they stay on your rim so it is safer compared to riding rim metal with a clincher wheel that has rolled it tyre off. Personally I would go for wheels in the following order: HED 60mm front and rear - they are faster than Zipps according to testing done in USA (can't remember magazine) and cheaper Zipp 404 front and rear - good solid wheel with good aero Campy Bora Ultra II - They have cone bearings which run ultra smooth and are rock solid I have not ridden other makes so cannot judge or give an opinion.
  18. Hahahahah that funny man! Don't scare guys off with statements like that. Riding deep section wheels in winds is all about your setup and how you handle/respond to the wind. I have both Zipps and Boras (48mm by the way and without the H) and the Zipps and I also rode the argus with Bora in 2010 without problems. How long is your stem and is your setup fore/aft correct? Do you ride with sligthly locked arm on downwind side arm in gusting wind? Some questions that are important before dissing deep section wheels.
  19. We had a mate at varsity who was like that. Rock up to an athletics meet pissed out of his mind and then run the 10000m sub 30min. Of course he denied he was a drinker with a running problem.
  20. No mate go ahead! You are a legend if you can kill yourself smoking. I do however suggest you take up BMX as I don't think smokers have the brains to cycle MTB or road.
  21. Is it the original seatpost for the frame? Sometimes if the seatpost is a slightly smaller diameter than needed for the frame it will slip no matter how much force you apply to the quick release. I would suggest you check that and also possibly use a proper bolt/nut config clamp. How easily does the seatpost move when the clamp is not on? If it slides up and down really easily above is most probably true. Seatpost should almost need to wiggle back and forward to get in and out. That would be a good fit.
  22. Hey man, back luck. Did your stretch routine include hamstring stretches? If not the ITB most probably stems from hangstrings that are too short. The attachment point for the hammy are on sides of the knee below on your lower leg bone (can't recall name this late at night). Normally when hammies are too short they cause extra friction exactly where you feel the ITB pain. Many, many people misdiagnose it to be the ITB can being too short, but in fact it is the hamstrng muscle. You will need to concentrate on strethcing you hammies with bent knees until you feel the muscle stretch in the centre of the muscle. If you get a burning feeling behind your knees that is more a nerve stretch and you need to bend knees more until you feel the muscle stretch. A muscle stretch will never burn, that is a nerve stretch and is targeting the wrong area as the nerve becomes the limiting factor of the stretch. Try this with rest for a few weeks and see if it helps. Without proper rest and stretching you have little chance of recovery. Good luck!
  23. Whatever happened, an Adamo would be a good investment, especially for a Pornstar.
  24. Geez I wish we never had people like you on the hub. You remind me of the type of guys we had a school that were so unhappy about their own lives that they by default would just try and pull others down where they could. Childish!
