  1. 6:27 , Pagacar says it was an easy race!
  2. what was the early bird bird entry last year - can't recall at present - Think it was R650?
  3. we saw a guy down, literally 200m from the start - don't know if it was a wheel touch or something else - 1E
  4. Some sobering insights here indeed. a bit analysis and thought required on my side, but always willing to learn
  5. Thanks, interesting!
  6. well done, what group were you in and what's your FTP btw?
  7. Mr B, perhaps we should have a coffee catch up, as we know each other! I don't think that sub3 will ever materialize, but constany improvement is always a focus for me.
  8. ja ney - I am not in that "category" - but feel perhaps I should be a bit doing better at least! I rode in 1E and did 3h29 - which was about 15 minutes slower than I was hoping for
  9. yes, that fine balance - but reckon for me its also not burning too many matches before Oceanview, I was confident of a PB - but the conditions prevented that as well as perhaps being a bit too overzealous at the start - (as I felt in good shape) - ai - have some work to do I guess!
  10. Would also love to know, I reckon race management as well? or does this just go out of the window when you need to push to keep with the bunch? I definitely feel this is an area that I need help with - despite doing so many tours!
  11. Idiotic, also had a very small child almost run into our path in Ocean View, fortunately the mom managed to catch her and return her to the pavement.
  12. Saw a rider down on the Ocean View descent before the police station, looked bad. Tough day in the saddle , not the conditions we were expecting!
  13. Would also like to know
  14. I assume you mean the normal worm plugs? no experience using them on road bike but I’ve ridden with one on my MTB for ages, if it holds pressure and it’s secure shouldn’t be a problem?
  15. Talk to me about the helmets, missed this and might go back if decent !
  16. Drove past earlier, definitely a fatality, looked like an oldish road bike .
  17. also heard a report to this effect
  18. No dog in this fight , as I don’t start with the racing snakes, maybe one day…. but the “organizing” of earlier starts really irks me, especially if it’s people that will literally only start with the earlier group and then just get caught anyway!
  19. There is someone selling them on the hub, CNC'ed units - they look great. Can't recall the account details at present though Found this, but there was someone else https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/sensors-mounts-and-accessories/646017/garmin-varia-light-mount-for-specialized-seat
  20. Damnit, so sorry to hear, I hope that you make a full recovery and that the POS responsible is found. Will update the individual who informed me, he was very worried about you.
  21. As received, no further details are known. This was received today.
  22. been there and have the t shirt - or in this case the surgery scar! Similar to Wannabee got to a point where any movement was impossible - had discectomy - L5 S1 Years later I still have stiff back at times but I have found that since I have become ALOT more disciplined about core exercises and stretching, as well as managing my weight it has gotten alot better. Some days no discomfort at. Start with basic stuff like already mentioned - cat and cow - very good to loosen up the area. Try not to sit for too long - sitting is the worst for your back!
  23. with what internal rim is that? does ID not have a bearing as well?
  24. The Shimano R8000 comes to mind, they are set to handle up to 28mm RIM width, my understanding is that the ID of your rim also has a bearing on the final effective width of the final inflated width of the tyre though as is the height of the brake caliper on the frame. Some discussion links but I would be keen to hear some local user experience https://wahoox.forum.wahoofitness.com/t/rim-brake-clearance/23915/13 https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=167610
  25. Damn, I just bought some stuff and it’s being sent by some parcel company which i assumed was a courier, hopefully doesn’t take too long! Thanks
