  1. Thanks, I usually ride with a pump anyways. This sounds like quite a prickly ride!
  2. The 2023 event is coming up, anyone perhaps have the gpx ride file for the 80km route?
  3. Using the same wax, will give it another dip later after adding some more wax to the mixture.
  4. I did that but it wasn't solidifying, eventually removed it and hung it up, still soft this morning
  5. Thanks will dip again
  6. A question for those that wax their chains.. Did my first attempt and the wax has dried but the chain is not stiff as I've seen in some videos, Does this imply that my mixture was too oil heavy? Thinking of redoing it but with more wax? Using reitzer’s oil by the way.
  7. Ali express
  8. Yip, didn’t read article but I believe it plays nicely with 12 speed chains
  9. Interesting
  10. Thanks Cleaning process the same thereafter? With the alcohol I presume? Suggested intervals? Where is isopropyl typically sold?
  11. talk to me about this melt wax?
  12. This goes against what they sell to everyone about making Cape Town a cycling friendly city, also with the view to reduce our ever increasing traffic congestion… Don’t give up guys, perhaps include pedal power and some of the other twitter handles available Alan’s , city of Cape Town etc.
  13. Reach out to the club, it's a good starting point - https://club100capetown.co.za/contact-2/
  14. reach out to Club 100 - weekly rides from Constantia Village How fit are you in terms of ability / average speed and distance etc?

  16. Ah okay I did 3h34 and was placed 206th out of 340
  17. What group for interest sake? I finished in a similar time but way down in the F group
  18. Started in 1F, was never going to cut it, injury forced me off the bike for 10 weeks under doctor and physio’s orders, only returned to training at the end of January, was expecting around 4 hrs, finished in 3h34 which was a pleasant surprise indeed, Heard about the crashes, fortunately didn't see any on my effort.
  19. Seems to be a common problem People that started ahead of me have results that state they were in my group
  20. Sorry to hear about this shocking incident Hope that you recover both in body and mind, and that the perpetrators get their just reward for their actions.
  21. Was this a club move or some people that are new to the sport and have safety concerns? Either way not a smart move, probably the latter
  22. Perhaps post incident details, nothing in either thread?
  23. Namgear bikewash, rinsed off with one of those larger garden spray bottles
  24. Enjoying this thread I have a hard tail that I’m toying with the idea of converting to a more off-road / road friendly option. it’s used mostly for commuting as I like the option of being able to use a pavement if needed. Already have a rigid fork fitted, will switch out the tyres at point and eventually the bars. That will take some money though but as will need shifters and converters for the brakes etc. The frame takes a 40 upfront paired with an 11-42 so works well for the purpose at present
  25. strange, guess I should query this, did you do the 1 tonner and if so, is it listed? EDIT : just saw that my 1 tonner result has been disregarded?
