  1. Man even if I came first (which won't happen) I will still be there till the end at the bar. Common sight for me is my car being the last one in the carpark ha ha.... Bring on them hills and beers (I can say that cause I will also have gears this time). Fork back on, new front rotor, new rear wheel bearings, new XT crank, cassette and chain.... Eish may be I should just strip the whole bike and rebuild it. Better finish it all tonight as I have to ride it to work tomorrow...car service time Anyone looking for a Noir crank........... I am escaping the GXP bb once and for all
  2. YAY the merida will roll again this weekend. The GF's new Manitou MRD Absolute fork arrived yesterday so I can get mine back in time for VG race. Tried to tell her my white one will look nicer than the black one she bought so I could get the new one, but she smelt a rat quickly........
  3. Finally the real reason ????
  4. ha ha that Buys guy ruined it all for me at VG so all I am left to do it drink more beer
  5. Ask Suikerbos Rand the effect if has on their animals..............
  6. Man speaking of brewing had the GF on my case yesterday because I have not brewed beer in a long time. Best I get cracking.......
  7. Man lets not get started on Gel packets eish........ Almost had a guys tissue hit me when he tossed it. Saying all this I had the best 94.7 ever. Complete blast riding for a charity on a qhebeka bike. The stealth bomber I called it.....
  8. Just put beer stops on the route and you will find it's easier than you think to beat me. I just can't resist a beer stop
  9. Yeah if I had tried to push the GF up the N14 I would ahve been packing my bags when i got home. Instead I pasted her, flagged her down asked if she had had a gel, which she replied NO, so I gave her one and then left her...... No bags had to be pack Well at least some people have something they can "Fake" brag about around the dinner table Yeah bunch riding another topic. You can bunch ride but also help the bunch or you can bunch ride and over take them on the last hill when they are poked.... mmmmmm Must say i have bunch ridden a few times, but also sat at the front to help. I mean the guy at the front gets the beer tent first, I thought thats where your supposed to be.....
  10. I am all for helping people if they need it, and are suffering. I am also all for helping people in a stage race when your in a team and your racing, like when i race Sani2c. That is a team event. 94.7 is an individual event, would just feel wrong to me if I was bragging that I beat my time by 1hr from the previous year knowing I was getting help from someone, when i could easily have finished the race under my own steam. My GF refuses to let me help her (and there have been times when she is completely finished) as she says it is not under her own steam and she just does not feel right about it. Does not bother me, I just don't see the point in it unless help is required
  11. Very easy, my results are like a YoYo depending on what i am riding and if i trained. One year a 3:40 odd the next 2:34 this year 4:17 (my longest one in 10years but then again if you saw the bike I rode for charity). 12 months is a long time to train. No EPO used by this chap in my opinion...
  12. What was with guys pushing chicks up hills even though they were not finished, tired etc and pushing them fast so they can get better times............ Saw a few people doing this. Especially one. Every hill he would push her fast past everyone and at the top they would race off so it was not like she was tired. Don't get me wrong i have helped people but that is bause they are completely finished and just trying to get to the end, not trying to improve their time...... May be it was Lance and his wife I saw
  13. Na i may go gears. Had a brand new cranks and cassette etc sitting in a box for over a month now. Seems wrong for it to collect dust
  14. Now i am back to no bike. Knowing me i will build something up on fri night over a few beers and race it on sat
  15. Just enter you will be all sorted again by the weekend Seems the Yellow monster is going to have to be handed back sometime this week. Will find out today. Started getting the hang of that bike, and actually handles really well on the road. Should have seen me banking that tank round the last turning circle at 94.7 going onto the home straight. Ok I did carry too much speed and you can't back pedal to brake mid corner so I had no choice. I did take it down the embankment at the polo field parking. Quite interesting ha ha
  16. Completed it on the qhubeka bike 4.17. 25kg's and a 44x20 gearing. Built to last not for speed. Had to fix 1 rear puncture (no small task, 15mm spanner 2x nuts, 10mm spanner 2x nuts and one screw driver to get the wheel off). Also stopped for a beer on Witkoppen, much to their delight with a good pack pedal skid coming off the tar. Had a rear blast out there.... Eish got beaten by my sister on a Trek 69er with a 32x17 gearing. She managed a 3.51. At least my legs are not feeling as bad as hers today. Big up to her that was her first SS long ride on the bike. Congrats to all on the SS bikes. Even though I was thinking it was not such a great idea near the end to have ridden that bike, I had such fun I am already considering riding it next year. May be they will have dropped the weight to 24kg's
  17. So far their service just getting quotes has been great. Willing to take a gamble with them, should sign the forms this week. Would be nice to hear from other peoples experience
  18. yeah don't finish the bar before we finish :-)
  19. took it off road yesterday. Pretty scary with that brake
  20. yeah we finished the beer stash from the fridge ha ha. That bike is not to be taken lightly.... Excuse the pun at 25kg's
  21. Ha ha don't talk to me about the bar ends. They may be super light ones but i has them pointing a bit too much up when i built the bike. Lost some brownie points on the first ride
  22. Ok Here was the meeting pics
  23. Awesome bike. Took it for another spin. Just need to adjust the rear gear and the bike it set to roll the trails
  24. Swift01

WHAT? I am riding a qhubeka buffalo, 42 x 20 gearing and 25kg's need 2 different spanners and 1 star screw driver to change the back wheel
  25. After some consulting with rouxtjie it seems buffalo quest 70km is on
