  1. Already looking into options :-)
  2. Spoke to Eric after Saturdays race about Cradle Quest. He said it will be a tiny bit harder on the 70km route than the Nissan VG, so that should sum it up for you. Guess I have no choice at this stage but to ride the bike with gears............ Can't wait already entered. Oh and i tested the Ale House beers out yesterday. Very nice
  3. As you can see on mine, right at the beginning I was doing some serious hill climbing even though it was at the start of the race. Just looked and it was a 600m climb in less than 1km. Wonder what the grade of that climb would be ha ha
  4. At least they are smiling
  5. I recorded 1930m climbing on my garmin for the 40km...... Had a look at the data and it looks like I did several 300 odd meter hill repeats in the first 2km of the race. But I was doing 30km plus per hour... Eat those stats Burry...... Hate it when technology goes a little crazy.
  6. You should try giants castle race. Hills hills hills and hike your bike on your back sections
  7. Don't eat double portion of future life before a race. Makes your frame have no furure :-)
  8. I think I must go back to pronutro. Future life is way too powerful for me and my bike or was it the lack of beers the night before.....
  9. @jcza sorry i missed u guys at the end. Looked around but couldn't find you. May have been lucky cause after my disjointed day on the trails i would have cleaned you out of spike bombs. So the question has to be asked who is going the cradle quest at VG on the 24th nov....... Beware i will have to ride a geared bike now i have no SS Ha Ha
  10. Wow can't believe some of these questions etc. in todays's world a trade a a special skill. Being patient and learning how to be a top grade mechanic does not just come from reading a text book but more importantly from experience. That is something that seems to be coming short these days. Getting a young person to learn patience and responsibility at a young age is tough. Their mind is full of all sorts of things i know my nephew is 16 and i try to show him how to fix his bike but he is more interested in just riding it but fails in raves due to mechanical problems. We were all like that when young. What JB is offering is the best of both worlds. You get to learn via the text book through his courses, but also your going to learn from the bottom up in the real world of working with bikes. Paying for the courses and getting refunded is a way to make one stay focused. If only i was given this chance 10yrs ago. Only when your older do you appreciate it. In SA we are crying, shouting for better bike mechanics but when someone tries to help sort the situation we kick him down. Just looks how many posts there are about Xxx LBS broke my bike, did a bad job etc. Lets embrace what he and his bike shop sponsors are trying do and give them a chance...... You never know we could create a great mechanic at your local LBS. Is that not what we all want? It's worth at least one round of trying. Ok so thats my R50 worth.........:-)
  11. Not too worried about the bike not the newest frame. Back a geared bike i guess for a little while :-( Sounds like doing the 40km we missed quite a bit of buck action. Was speaking to the camera man on the 2nd time i stopped on the wooden bridge about 8km into the race. Believe some youngster crashed off the bridge and concussed himself.
  12. Started riding the 70km SS and busted my frame after 8km. Rode back phoned the brother in law down the road and for my punishment he brought his trek 29er bike for me (29inch front 26in back and u guys thought i was talking dirty). Got it just in time to join the GF on the 40km. So had an interesting day out. Track was fun. Helped a few guys with mechanicals and couple of cold beers at the end. Anyone want a gary fisher frame? For free ha ha.
  13. Thats how my ss no longer rolls ha ha
  14. Just remember if you have an SS you have 2 gears sitting and standing.................
  15. routjie change the chicken suit for a duck suit and get in the splash pool............
  16. He did love it in the end though. Thought he was the ken..... ChicKen
  17. Still love that chicken suit. Was classic................
  18. I have the photo of those 2 ladies with u and mackie. Uuuuum you don't want me to post it
  19. Bring that captain hat of yours, or may be just some captains and coke with ice
  20. Near the bar. Routjie what t shirt are you going to wear. Something thats loud and proud so people can see you straight away
  21. Routjie chickened out from doing the race so his job should be to find and are big enough for us in an area where people can see it easy and have cold beer on ice ready and waiting............ Castle lite will be ok for me
  22. @muddymike what did you use to strip the paint off your frame?
  23. Guy on the hub the other day used some paint stripper called removeall. Paint on leave 12 hrs spray off. Looked like it worked like a bomb and did his fork as well. Thats what got me keen to respary as the paint stripping was a pain last time
  24. I am considering asking the GF if i can have her gary fisher frame and paint a new SS bike. Not like she needs it she will make the trek into an SS as soon as she finishes the intense spider build very soon.
  25. Did that once on the training bike. Was great training but now the training bike went one step further. Got a new paint job, Stickers and only one gear. Sorted.
