  1. I found i was going to an easier gear just because i had them. Rode the SS for a month and now i see no reason for the granny on the other bike, just like i used to ride before i got lazy
  2. Just got my Shimano and they do seem very nice I have to say especially for the price.
  3. YAY I am not the only SS guy with V-Brakes. Nice build. Makes we want to re-build mine just so I can well re-build it. Like the old LX cranks. Going to be building the GF's SS bike soon which is an old Silver trek and was thinking of getting the set of old LX cranks sandblasted then polish them up. At least not i know it will work... Many happy miles
  4. @Mackie A bit of a windgat joller..........??? I only wish I was presented with this chance when I was younger.
  5. They will be doing the Standard courses offered by JB as far I read into it, PLUS several months of apprenticeship working in the shop. To me this is the ONLY way to learn correctly. All too often you have people coming out of school that know the books backwards and think they know everything, only to find 2 months down the line that it's not like that in the real world. A book will tell you how to replace a part and how tight to tighten the bolt but it won't tell you how to extract a siezed bolt or to fix a stripped bolt etc..........
  6. My nephews bike is like that drives my sister mad, as he put a hole in his jeans the other day when he sat back too far. Lucky it was just his jeans he got caught.............
  7. A few mistakes only? So far there is 18 SS people entered.
  8. +10 on point 8... No body wants to see a guys crack......
  9. Is it strickly day classes or evening classes?
  10. SAS always getting it right first time NOT..........
  11. I will let you take it for a spin around the block. I reckon 2 min in that saddle will convince you of a quick change. Would look strange with a set of flat bars on there as well.... Carbon just to lighten her up a bit been doing way too many criticalmass rides
  12. Yeah what's with the seeding. The GF got a new one last night and got moved from C to D. She is not happy means she now starts at 8:45... May as well be riding in the afternoon. Also I now start at 7am which means she waits on her own for 1hr 45. Not cool
  13. Looks like I got myself another SS for the 94.7..... May have to change that saddle and some SPD's and I should be ready to roll. Who knows what the gearing is..... Comes with built in rear stand which may get used at a few water points. Nothing like a charity ride. Not sure on the specs but heard it is about 20kg, also looks like back pedal brakes. Should get some serious pace down the hills.
  14. Dammit would be awesome, unfortunately the day job needs to pay the big bills at the moment

    2012 94.7

Got my start time 6.59 but moving to the charity slots at 8.18 i got me a charity ride for Flying for Life and also a beast of a bike from Qhubeka. A yellow buffalo coming in at 20 odd kg's and some serious SS gears. The only part i fear is that saddle ha ha looks cutting edge. Can't wait :-)
  16. Just be careful with the cut out BB tool like in your bottom picture. They don't fit as snug as the top picture or the socket and tend to eat into the BB outer shell cups especially if they are on tight. I would try get a socket or if you cut the one you bought, make the opening as small as possible.
  17. You tell him jcza. Rouxtjie is just getting over a little hangover so he will be right again by wed
  18. Depends when were you planning to collect the goodie bags? During the day is better than after work it seems.
  19. Rouxjie needs an entry either 70 or 40km anyone?
  20. Typhoon I got my email before you this time so guess what that means.................
  21. Yay the GF has moved up to C batch on the 40km.
  22. You know the evening is going to go south when you look like this..........
  23. What a blast. Lost the glowing pumpkin over the first kerb along with some ice from the cooler box (pumpkin was later recovered). The 5 litre keg does not last long with boatman and chicken suit man. By Phata Phata we ran out of beer...........
  24. Can't decide due to the hills at the last 3rd of the race but it has a fairly flat middle section. Do I stick with the 32x18 on the SS like VG although my legs were still spinning for hours afterwards or do i go to 32x16....... 26inch bike and hopefully the fork will have some air it it this time....... #note to self don't fiddle with fork 10min before the start.....
  25. Yip reckons last bit of rain by 3pm latest. Can't wait the bike has never been pimped
