  1. Yeah i am still using HT bikes but the deal on those intense frames was too good. Bonus was it was blue. I earned a years supply of brownie points for choosing blue :-)
  2. Did you manage to sell the frame? Saw it for sale the other day. Almost considered it but would be strange to have the same bike as the GF. Next we will have matching socks and shirts. Going from a trek hardtail i think she is going to love it
  3. Ha ha i am still old school cause I am an old dog. They are super light and not big but yeah bar ends.
  4. Thanx very much. I will sort it out in the morning. Seems the one I got has 41mm bearings but you need the 41.8mm ones.
  5. I will get new bearings by tomorrow. I want to give that bike a quick spin before the GF gets her hands on it, cause once she has it i will never get to ride it.
  6. Well at the moment I just have a Qhubeka bike. SS bike frame broke and the Merida fork is now on the GF's bike. 25kg's and 42x 20t gearing fixie. Going to be interesting 94.7
  7. So it seems the GF may now have a nicer bike than me. Intenspider FRO. Assembled it, but I don't think the headset bearings are correct. I used a Cane Creek Forty Intergrated IS41 - Tall. They look like the standard Cane Creek bearings. The top one does not seem to seat correctly. Does anyone know the size if bearings they require?
  8. +10 for these guys, great service
  9. Unless there is a 26inch SS frame out there going cheap............... Think I will upgrade to disk brakes over the V-brakes this time
  10. After breaking the last frame I am going to take down the next Gary Fisher frame from the rafters and build another SS bike. I reckon things are going to have to be painted first. Thinking black frame and fork with Orange writing and parts? I also have mostly Green parts (rear cog conversion, bar ends, brand new half link chain) that were for the previous bike and new wheels with green nipples, so could be the route I have to go.... Suggestions?
  11. In conclusion I-cycle seems not too bad on the quote. Tuff stuff and outsurance require you to move your whole insurance to them (car and household) miway seems ok and cyclesure way over priced. Going to be making a few insurance adjustments soon......
  12. Best i get building another SS quickly then
  13. One frame lasted 12yrs the other 5yrs i have a habit to get attached :-)
  14. I think if my current car insurance would insure them for theft I would be happy and not bother about full comprehensive. Pity as they car insurance very great value for money and been great service, and thats why I don't want to leave them.
  15. That would not even cover my one bike frame So far had 2 quotes. One from Miway and one from I-cycle. Both of those are nearly the same with one being R90 cheaper than cyclesure the other R110 cheaper. Asked for a 3rd quote from Tuff Stuff. Lets see what thay can do. Starting to become clear cyclesure are epensive.
  16. The trouble in this country is the theft. Most of us can replace the parts on our own but to replace everything due to theft is a lot of money in one lump sum. Unfortunately theft is a major risk here so we have to pay a lot to insure. Just don't think cyclesure is worth their costs anymore. Been with them for 10yrs but they are starting to get expensive.
  17. I can afford to replace most parts if broken at my own cost, it is the theft that I would battle with if it was the one bike (other one is no problem to replace). Only reason I have the insurance.
  18. Outsurance requires me to move my car or household so that won't work
  19. Current insurance is a crazy cost. Already got one from miway and it is 100 cheaper than my current cyclesure.
  20. Thnx
  21. So how do you insure bikes? I am currently with Cyclesure and looking to change. What insurance companies other than outsurance and Miway insure your bikes without having to move your household and car etc. I am very happy with my latter insurance company but they don't do bicycles over R20k
  22. I will be there leaving at 8:18 with the charity group, on my Qhubeka Bike. I will get the stats by tomorrow but things are in the region of 25 to 30kg bike with a 44-22t ratio and it is a fixie. Handling is for sure not what I am used to, so I have a feeling i won't be getting my previous record of 2:34. Something tells me it will be my longest 94.7 yet but it is for charity. So far I have about 3k in sponsor which already flies 1 doctor to the rural areas I may need a doc to sort out saddle sores after the race... man you gotta see that saddle. JC you may pass me, if you do make sure you hand out a beer when you pass.
  23. Not loose points with gears cause i have not even been ridin that bike
  24. Ha Ha rouxtjie is always handing out that SS of his to try. which He handed out beer that often Don't worry if I had been in town and had not broken my frame I would ahve been there on my 26er...... Next time (just not sure what SS bike i wll have yet but should know this week)
  25. The bike I have has solid steel tubing bike rack and stand. Adds on some serious Kg's to the bike but could take a 10litre keg. Just don't think I would get up the hills
