  1. only 3 days not bad..... Like most companies in SA internet is not the fastest way to get a response They setup internet sites but they are no watched closely due to various reasons. I have learnt, no response within a day or 2, pick up the phone, it would take almost the same length of time as sending an email or typing a thread on thehub, and as you know the threads can get pretty long........... If I had waited for all the resonses via internet sites, I would still be waiting for half a bike to build my first bike.
  2. Like that team 235 in the challenge used 4 bombs on my nephews bike before i got there to help out. Hope they enjoyed their beer and bombs I attached to the beers at the race breifing Yeah VG it is can't wait. Dragging the old SS out again. Thinking I will change from 32x18 to 32x16 as it's one day also I am planning to walk some of those strips. Rode it the other day with 32x18 which was ok but I could have walked the same speed and used way less energy. Will be nice not to spin so much on the flats. 26inch also makes it a bit easier on the hills
  3. Ha Ha I think i would get funny looks rocking up to work with my number board. "Foggy goggles and the bar fly"
  4. They also had a bakkie going up and down the 14km climb for the back guys handing out water. Was agreat welcome in the heat. I told him to make money R10 for 2 minutes in the front cab of the bakkie with air-con. Guys would have waited 30 min just to get 2 min of air-con. Add a cold beer and you could ahve charged R50
  5. Yeah Typhoon just tried to sell B&G decent the entry to me. Naturally he didn't know what my bank manager looked like so he would have know the answer would be no Man I don't even want to go wash my bike properly cause it will just remind me I have to wait another year for the towers race. Suppose Dec is not too far away although they only have the tunnels open for about 1.5 months until the grow over then thats it, back to the normal routes which are still great.
  6. hey I was pumping the air matress ha ha. Nothing like making your mate spray beer out his nose though
  7. I will find out if they will do it and for which ride. The challenge or Race? I doubt they would have a cat. for both so we would have to decide. Must say i was lucky to not have a ridgid fork on my SS. Saved the teeth from rattling out. The V-brakes did cause a few cramps in the hands especially on day 1 on that last major downhill.
  8. yeah but if we can get enough interest I think we may get a Cat for SS. Now that would be awesome. What do you think would be the min amount of teams?
  9. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah man that was the best towers to date. I had an absolute blast. GF suffered bad on those hills with the heat but otherwise I think this race has even over taken sani for fun factor Man the bush tunnel on day 2 just kept going on and on. Rocked the SS bike up every hill except some stupid little up coming out of a river/tree area on day 3. It was way too loose and had no momentum. Going to have to check that rear freewheel for the cog biting into the freewheel cause some of those hills put serious strain on the drive train. I am sure my chain has stretched a little. Had a beer at the finish line on day one, long tom with frost on the outside and it was only R10. ok so it was not just one beer but you can't beat that at the finish line. Great to meet some of the hubbers, also met some other people out on the route with great sense of humour so i was chatting and laughing for 3 days. Back to Mankele over christmas with the whole family so I will be hitting the trails sooner than you think. Reckon I will take the other bike though just for handling purposes cause those trails deserve to be ripped up faster. Big up to Mankele for yet again another amazing race.
  10. I say as long as they guys bikes work and they are happy then it does not matter. On my own bike I have the rear brake cable and the rear gear cable routed together as i wanted a full housed cable going to the rear. Seems to last a lot longer against the mud etc. and they are not in the way at all......
  11. The hose on the inside prevents it from getting caught on branches etc, good choice to move it. Both of you SC guys have nice bikes. Hose length is a little long on the green bike but nothing beats this one from rouxtjie... Does the man with the longest hose win?? Note how it curves up and around and he hooks it between the handle bar and the brake lever to hold it in place He rode VG a few times like that. Said one day he will get to the LBS to shorten it
  12. Wow where do people get the time to do 11000km on a mountain bike ina month eish....... I get 650 in a good month
  13. 3 different sites and 3 different temps so the Ave for Fri, Sat Sun from all sites are: 14-27.3 12.3-32.3 and 13-32 Either way it is going to be dry and warm. Eish the GF suffers bad in the heat when riding. Best I pack loads of sun cream
  14. Going to have to pack more beer to keep cool..............
  15. should just give me the bike to test Very nice bike
  16. Typhoon............ Whats the meaning of the BurntStew..... Ha Ha Good carbo session last night. We need to get as many carbs in before the race this week
  17. Just hope those cupcakes don't get too hot and melt
  18. Typoon not training whaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Oh can't wait I just moved to the Bellaires gym
  19. Just be careful on the DownerHills
  20. But you will be laughing your head off all the way up
  21. Pity they changed the dates of the towers. The first year it was on my Birthday. This yr could have been a huge blast for my 40th @Jsza for the foggy goggle and the bar fly, you seem to have upgraded the GF to a MrsSwift now we all know what happened when you upgrade from GF1.0 to Wife 1.0. I will loose all my freedom and toys. Can you please downgrade to MissSwift @rouxtjie I will see you on the start line with your SS bike. Don't worry about your partner getting QOU (Queen of the universe) on her bike the other day when her garmin clocked her doing 345km/hr and managed 1056km in 2hrs 50 at a rate of 10 seconds per km. You can do 345 cadence keeping up easy... Got to love it when technology go a little crazy on you
  22. Oh in the challenge....
  23. Team "Foggy Goggle and the Bar Fly" will be there. The GF will be on her normal Silver Trek HT and i will be on the black SS with green fork. Should not be too hard to spot me. Normally found hanging out near the bar fridge. Best part is when I was at mankele the other day they were still R10 a beer... Looking forward to meeting some hubbers
  24. But you guys were slow out the blocks. I felt I was riding backwards at the start and still lost you But then you were on a duel sus.
  25. How do we find out about line entries?
