  1. 1999 Gary Fisher paragon frame (used to be white and orange). Does not even have a Disc brake mount at the back so V-Brakes it is. Should have made the stand green in colour keep with the theme
  2. Yeah the old bike got a bit of pimping before the weekend. Did 90km this last weekend without a problem. Even managed to conquer the VG concrete strips. May have to go back and fetch one of my lungs I left behind though. Can't wait to get my new wheels soon so I can get rid of that race king. Man can that tire slide in corners on a HT bike. Gave Rouxtjie's black beauty a quick spin. cool bike and just how an SS bike should be. Pimped
  3. I just checked and the profiles on the website are the same ones they had on last year which were way out. rouxjie is correct with his distances with Day 3 like I said being about 55km and 1350m climbing. Shortest day for the Race guys largest day for the challenge guys. Rouujie said he is doing it on his new niner SS bike
  4. They were no where close to that. For the challenge your looking at 1100 to 1300 per day and Day 3 we all do the same which was about 55km (1300m odd) The Race I think you were looking at about 1700 per day and 70km except day 3. I doubt they changed the format that much. Lots of challenge guys will never finish day 3.
  5. No need to do calcs to determin it, you just need to do it before you open the 6 pack of beers......... Lucky it does not take long to do so you can get to the beers quickly. We will sort the headset etc out only once you have the wheels and brakes etc in place (and wheels the right way around)
  6. First ride VG......... No pain no gain. Goodies I reckon will be here by wed latest. Just in customs, so best you find brakes fast. And Yes you lost serious points with the rear wheel on the wrong way even if it was just for a photo. I suggect on the first SS ride afterwards your going to be drinking some serious fines the question is how many fines...... Rear wheel the wrong way is worse than a rookie mistake.

Mmmmm 26inch SS bike. Wonder what gears one should use for the race. Don't want to spin like crazy the whole way.........
  8. So mech brake cables never get dirt in them?
  9. +1000 for the SS HT bike to commute with. Started last week and done it 4 times already. Just don't use a 32x18.... Man it's like a interval session all the way to work. Better gearing is currently in the post should arrive next week
  10. you can get SS chain tensioners that have 2 jockey wheels and work similar to a normal derailer. Ask Josh at cyclist workshop in JHB he will sort you out
  11. @ Prowler spot on the mark. My first 2 were excellent the 3rd they had too many people. The 4th they reduced the amount so it was better but not as good as the first 2 (although I did get to ride it with my da which was cool) then this last one was actually quite a shocker. I moved to the trail so i could ride the same days as the GF. I got the feeling they just put half effort into it compred to previous arces. Speaking to mates that rode the race this last year you could hear they put a lot more effort into their race as thats where the bog boys are. The day i finished I said that was enough it is just not the same anymore
  12. Don't worry I have given mine up and the GF gave her entry up and another mate gave his one up... so thats 3 entries up for grabs.......
  13. My 2nd Sani2c some guy tried to believe he was going to win it in the first 2km and even bumped my partner while trying to race through everyone (she almost fell). Best part was when he crashed on his own when he ran out of talent. race distance about 2km ha ha. It was one of the first times I have never heard a bunch of cyclist asking if someone was ok after a fall. They were all laughing and riding past..... Before you race think about how talented you are then half it, that way you may get the correct picture Riding is supposed to be competative yes but also a lot of fun
  14. awesome will give it a bash next time I am there
  15. New rock garden at NF? where is that?
  16. As far as I know they take your 3 best times and seed you on that. guess they won't be using this one for many people :-( I did this even the first year and never again due to bottlenecks and to be honest not the most interesting trail. Bring on VG even if you get stuck at some points the trail makes up for it in fun factor.......
  17. Still have to find out what colours he going to go for
  18. Where do you get them?
  19. Don't worry he has his heart set on the niner ridgit fork. He is going for pimp over comfort for sure
  20. Not supprised it is not the easiest race out there for the SS. Trouble is the Concrete strips and the church require the climbing gears but you also have those long stretches in between that require the faster gears. Either way going to be a hard day out. Nothing we have not all experienced before
  21. Looking for bragging points moving up to the B batch Just means you get to the beer tent earlier Should have entered but training with the GF for 3 towers and as she does not enjoy the nissan races they are out , until the one at VG happens. This should be Rouxtjie's last geared Nissan race, so the VG one I reckon we could all test the SS bikes out.....
  22. The problem is should I brag to the GF that I got my sunnies for R859 while she paid full price for hers in May....... I see dog house for me soon
  23. +1000 Got my new sunnies yesterday and already used them on the cimmute home. Awesome product
  24. if he beats you in a race then challenge him to the next one.... How many beers can you drink after the race you will both soon forget about who won and it won't matter anymore.... Just enjoy the ride (and drinks)
  25. She is now on the look out for a S Cruz Blur frame.... Like the way she thinks....
