  3. You already have as many different ideas as the different people who responded. I am of the opinion that the weight of a rider also play a role and to simply use a pressure will only work for riders of equal weight. I agree the terain plays a role, but generally if you find the right ballance between your weight and durability, the terain won't effect it too much. tweaking the pressure for a specific terain will come with experience ie. sand go lower pressures for a bigger footprint and hardpack go higher for lower rolling resistance. incedently I found the average pressure recomendations leave me with a unstable bike. Maybe it is the way I ride or feel comfortable and that is why I would recommend to start somewhere, go for a ride and log the experience. Adjust and repeat until you find your sweet spot. Measure the pressure and you have solid referance point. for the record, I weight 85 Kg and I commute with my bike (tubeless) to work with the backpack filled with the daily necessities adding a couople of extra Kgs and my wheels on tar runs at 2.8 bar. if I lower to 2.5 bar, I get a nice plush ride at the expence of a skittish conering ability. When I ride on the weekends without the extra luggage, the bike feels sharp and responcive. Thats my sweet spot! Now just go for a ride and find yours.
  4. Also had the same irritation quite recently. New BB and everything done by the book, but the noise persisted. It turned out to be the pedals. On close inspection I found a tiny amount of play on the left pedal. Anyway, did a replacement and all is well again.
  5. extended nosehair in my opinion and too much maintenance. I don't even need a mirror for combing my hair, why should I keep one to trim the upper lip? Nee wat, use the energy elsewhere
  6. And here in Cape Town' date=' well, no one should actually drive, they are all friggin mentally handicapped. No Seriously. [/quote'] AMEN brother and sisters, AMEN!
  7. Tell you what! Should the Cheetas pull a blue bull (rabbit)by its ears from the final hat, The springboks has a big problem. Afterall it is 15 against 2.
  8. OK I guess you are a Citroen fan. They do seem do be on top of their game in the WRC at the moment, but do they have a marketable, ready to race and some good service model available? Second in the WRC is Ford. Do they have a ready to race model? Only Subaru with the STI and Mitsubishi with the EVO has. Plastic!! Maybe youre driving a Hummer1 Heck, like that will last in good ol rsa.
  9. I used to cycle on close to the the Namaqualand coastline where the Southern winds PUMP like its going out of fashion somewhere. Anyway, the Cape Cobras there get quite large and they bask right on the edge of the road. Now imagine me, head down, wind in my ears and concentrating my @@s off to keep cadence against the wind. Then this bugger rears up, often higher than the top tube with a hiss heard above the wind! Man, if you don't cr@p in your pants, there just nothing there. Beautiful creatures though. Often watched them hunting the field mice while I was cycling. Did some reading. The dark skin normally means its is getting close to shedding its skin. The skin is tight and unconfortable AND the snake can't see propperly since the skin over the eye is getting opague. This period sees the snake very irritable and can turn from fleeing to attack quite easily. After the snake shed its skin though, it appears very colorful. It is seldom seen though, because its senses are working fine and the snake will shy away rather than to face its enemies. Thats us! Be very careful out there. Cycling has your heart rate higher than normal and it is the bloodstream distributing the poison. The advice with the bandages is sound if the purpose is to slow the spread of the poison. The main aim should always be to get medical attention asap! Keep your phone handy!
  10. Yes
  11. Why?
  12. PM me and I'll tel you the whole story.
  13. a set of 20" or 24 " tubes @ R100, a bottle of Stans or Joes @ R200 A sharp knife/blade to trim the tube left out, levers, pump (preferably a compressor), time and a little common knowledge that leaves you with.......Say R900 to spend on some decend Maxis wheels. You should have change in your pocket at the end of the day. That is what I did and I am going for my 2nd year like this. Tubes are history for me.
  14. , you know something about control instrumentation!!
  15. It took me a lifetime, but I have just became a Champoin Hubber. Weeeeeee
  16. I started with cantilevers, moved to V-brakes both on th righthand side. That made sence, because all motorbikes have the front brakes on the righthand side, don't they. Moved to disks and they were swapped to the lefthand side. WTF. I checked the possibilities and changed them back to the righthand side. Its the only logical way! why change it?
  17. Sjees bud. You almost scared me there. The name sounds almost like my surname (I always wanted to be famous) and I though i forgot to arrange something. Not really. Where is this place BTW?
  18. the Kenda has a weaker sidewall than the Maxxis. The maxxis is not the best choise on the front though. One of the best I ever rode you didn't even list. Hutchinsons Python is expensive, but man they float on the conditions you described.
  19. Burry, I hope that good ol RSA at least mention you on the local news tonight.
  20. I've been cycling in the Namaqualand for ages with slime only. I rode the tires until threadless and only once did slime not help me get home, and that was when glass cut a hole of 7mm. I have Stans now on the mamparra tubeless and its working equally well.
  21. RIP Gerhard. Nothing we say now or even in the future will lessen the pain Estelle feels now. Lets just keep praying for her.

    Stupid!!

Back from the doc. Broken collarbone and no cycling for 6 weeks. The helmet did its job well and it was a Giro. The damn rail is stil there, but I am not friends with them anymore. The bike....well, the rears calipers needs some alligning, but thats all I can see. It still rides fine.
