  3. i think you owe everything to your allertness!! Gald you're safe
  4. Cois, I think you are a purist and to me that is a good thing. Respect the man for his views! The EPO thing though, while sleeping in a tent is rubbish. When sleeping in a tent simulating a high altitude, you can not overdose and risk the same side effects as with EPO since your body makes the changes. Doping with EPO is a process you apply to the body and hense the risks. Yes there are benefits in having more red blood, but the natural process can not compete with the levels of performance from doping. The tent only cuts out the traveling necessary to achieve the same results. Anyway, by the sound of things the equipment are just as expensive as the traveling.
  5. I've spent thousand of rands trying all sort of stuff. From Cytomax' date=' Biomax, USN, Evo and none work FOR ME like Energade does. An yes, I am a funrider so I do not need all that fancy stuff because if I don't perform, like 99% of the wannabes, I don't need to blame my equipment. [/quote'] Ditto. I like to think its me who did the cycling and not all the chemicals consumed
  6. No on all accounts. Please explain the correct bleeding procedure?
  7. All this I did! I made sure that I slowed down with long partial application on the faster desents I normally do in order to bed them in. No improvement!
  8. Shimano, but I dont know the exact model line. I use to rely on the V-brake and they were not only light, but easy to set up and they stopped when I wanted to stop. The disks needs a bit of begging. I also came into close associuation with a taxi on Friday and I feel that the brakes could have helped.
  9. I bought a Scott with a front brake that does not quite do the biting I want it to. The disks and the pads are reasonably new (500km with little serious stopping) and it took me quite a while to ensure that they dont drag. I had hoped that aligning them would improve, but alas it didnt. I even swopped front pads to the rears and that too didnt improve. Does anyone know of a fix to improve the situation.
  10. Imagne, we have the taxis where we want them
  11. I got together witha taxi on Friday afternoon. I was in serious shock and two very helpfull ladies came to my recue. The impact with the taxi threw me into the traffic lane and the stopped next to me to divert the traffic. To make a long story short. It is amazing where help comes from! These girls are not cyclists, but they helped me to get home in their little panel van. Thank you to Julia and Marzanne and your very welcome catering van! The sad thing is I know very little else about them but "Hail" to them. It is appreaciated.
  12. "Capetownian working in Jo'burg" is spelled danger. Add a baaie sukkel and it is spelled DANGER! Yet I found talking to the normal drivers (including the moms with fould mouths), Taxi drivers and truck drivers, generally lighten their mood towards me a cyclist. Where? The old Pretoria road from Becleugh to Midrand and then to Chloorkop on Alandale. My attitude is simple "It doesnt matter if they are wrong! I will hurt the most. Stay clear and be patient"
  13. Team Komatsu
  14. One thing I don't read anywhere is the control tests at another lab. My wife has been a medical technologist working with blood and urine tests for medical reasons, but despite the quality and reliability of the specific tests, certain conditions are always double checked by sending a portion of the sample to another lab for analisys. that way a dr. can make an abolute decision/diagnosis for the benifit of the patient. With the doping tests there is a B sample, but it is tested at the same facilities!!!!????? I thinks we are all just as guilty as those attention grabbing journous by discussing the posible guilt of a contender based on hearesay. wait for the facts and hearings, then we are free to comment on the facts.
  15. Shoe maar djulle gaat suipsmileys/smiley3.gif En djulle gaat vriet ok smileys/smiley3.gif
  16. I have had some other types on my bike in sometimes very poor conditions and the worst for these watches is mud. I then heard about - all males (cycling or non-cycling) carry spares close at hand - condoms stretched lekker tight in place of the clingwrap. Latex rules!!!
  17. I think the ultimate answer was given by vbrake. there is another angle though. it is all about levers. the distance from the contact on the tire to contact area of the brakebetween the vbrake and the disk varies quite a bit. the disk have mechanicalflex in the spokes and the tire where the vbrake only have to deal with flex in the tire. other than all comments given already it is up to personal taste.
