  5. Shock absorbtion? First time I hear that. I know they are lighter than Alu ones, but didnt hear of shock absorbtion properties on a carbon seatpost
  6. Welcome mate!! You are in the same boat as me. Because of budget and wanting to get a good solid dual-sus bike, i opted to build up mine with great results. All in all I built up myself a dual-sus GT idx4 for about R7000 complete. You can check my thread here: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/108042-soggys-mountain-bike-build-finally/page__p__1493095 Good luck!
  7. I weigh in a 94kg, and run my Continental Ultra/gatorskin combo's at 7bar for both of them. Never had a blowout even after riding over cat eyes at 70km/h downhill

  13. Whenever I cycled in your area, I always just went up the M5 (Prince George Drive), the yellow line was big enough and traffic not too bad, but was not in peak hour, was on a Saturday morning which is also busy at times. You can just cycle down the M5 and then go up the Racecourse Road bridge onto Chichester Road towards Rondebosch. Try driving yoour route first and pickout a smooth route that will give enough yellow line area to stay clear of traffic.
  14. Moer him Twice!!!
  15. Amen brother!!!
  16. If the trouble is in the lower back and arms, a shorter stem will help lift you up and take pressure off your arms. The only bad thing is the higher up you are, the more wind resistance. As long as your reach is good and confortable, it will be more comfortable to duck into the wind for extra aerodynamics.
  17. Also dont put on a MTB seat. This may sound silly but I discovered this and its true. MTB seats are designed to be ridden with the rider almost upright, with most of the weight on the rear of the a$$, road bike seats are very flat due to the forward leaning position and a lot of the pressure is shifted to the scrotum area. Any uneccesary padding actually adds more pressure to the area and cuts off circulation. I used a MTB seat on my road bike once and just after riding arond the block once I could definitely feel the extra pressure on the family jewels and swapped the seat back. Road bike seats are designed to be flat for that exact reason, and the padding was shifted to the cycling shorts instead of the seat
  18. When I started cycling, it took me a while to get used to the hard seat, especially since I weigh 94kg and I am 1.9m tall so a road bike was much more uncomfortable than the mountain bike. I got myself a gel seat cover and used that for a while, you wont believe how much that helped my a$$, made it much more bearable. Is your handlebar se too low? Can you loosen the top locknut and move the spacers below the stem to raise the bar a bit, that will help with the lower back as well.
  19. I ordered a pic of me up Chappies for my first Argus, the pic never came. Almost spent R100 for it. Never gonna buy from them again.

  21. The more marshals the better for us. Down here in the Western Cape the Think Bike marshals do a great job as well, and I am really grateful for the service they do.
  22. Thanks Dale!
  23. I bet their server is gonna crash when they open up the site with the amount of hits on it, lol
  24. Thanks!! My theory was having two pieces other than one will distribute the force between them, instead of one taking the brunt of it.
