  1. Not good. Changed a front crossmark to ardent recently .There is markedly better gripp .Don,t do it !!
  2. Saguaro ,Race -king,Crossmark ,vredenstein as rear.X-king, ardent ,nobby nic ,racing ralph front .Any combo will work.Saguaro and Crossmark rear are very long lasting .Front tyres take forever to wear
  3. Hi Darren .Well said ! or is that written ?.We need the Epic more than we need any other event and for that it still needs our support .I still have to do the epic so everyone can stop asking me If I have .JB2C is almost a personal journey shared with other fellow Saffas and some Kiwi,s .When you reach the village at jb2c ,there was Kelly,s 2 young boys with their trucks playing in the gravel and you felt at home .This is after being spoilt at the water tables by the local,s from the area .After doing the 9 days I felt a lot more positive about RSA and our future here .There are just to many good people in RSA that will not let our heritage be destroyed by a incompetent government
  4. Much better in summer .Last time i did this event the route was dry and ugly
  5. All this talk of healing after falls is worry-some .I end up riding alone or in front to be safer .Will probably never have the best times or make it to A orB groups .I have never fallen on my road bike ,but plenty on mtb .Roadies are a different breed .See you all at Emperors road .Last year i was on my hard tail .This year on my road bike
  6. The terrain suits a dual sus perfectly .long stretches of undulating but fast riding .I like my Ht also and would love to do the first 3days on Ht Ss .BUT it is 9days and everything starts hurting day 5/6 and then there is still the rest .Guys pull out because of small problems turning to big problems ,like knee pain ,saddle sores ,neck spasms ,just gatvol .Don,t be discouraged it is a great ride
  7. I have a ht and a tallboy .No question ,do it on your tallboy .last year it was one of the most popular bikes at jb2c .5hours a day on a Ht for 9 days is a long time .On day 9 I could,t keep my head up anymore and i had carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands .The last thing you want is bum trouble
  8. Took me one and a half day before i could stay on them for more than 15 min.You will get it sooner than you think ,then you never struggle again .Brilliant for core muscle strength and balance .My balance improved with only half an hour on them.I found them really good adjunct training for mtb .30min at high cadence is a proper workout
  9. SUNBLOCK !!! Buff !! Couple of elastoplast plasters .Ipod and earphones and your favorite falling asleep music .Don,t take extra food .Armwarmers or the sunscreen type armwarmers .Any front tyre with aggresive tread like nobbi nic ,ardent ,x-king with enough stan,s .Bribe money for the speeding fine on you way there
  10. Last year there was a team that used 34 x18 on first 3 days and i pressume moved to 32 x18 for the climbing days .If you are strong 36 x18 will work fine for the flatter days . The problem is that it is 9 days and if your gearing is to high your knees are not going to last.If it was me i would start with 36 x18 and move up as the climbing days get closer .There are long fast streches on the whole route
  11. Yes! .Worked well
  12. Blackspade 34 of 36 ss specific .Epic and Hatfield cycles has stock
  13. Stan's crest will be a much lighter wheel and with your weight will not be an issue .i would use hope hub,s .This will be a good affordable set that has good resale value also. There is nothing wrong with your current set except it may be slightly heavy
  14. A reasonable person would say that he gained an advantage .Or 9 out of 10 others would say that he gained un advantage .If it was a smaller advantage they would have ignored it .Why was he behind outcast riders anyway ?
  15. Nearly chopped of my finger yesterday while setting my brakes on up upside down bike .It got caught in the disc brake while the wheel was rotating .Almost like one of those biltong slicers in the butcheries
  16. Looks exactly like a MoMsen SL729 ??
  17. Well done .We need a proper regular event in TSwane
  18. My daughter knows him from leadership school camp and knew exactly who he was when I told her .He taught her a guitar song and was a brilliant student .She is devastated .Rest in peace young Rudi .
  19. Team Sauser Roban also took a shortcut in the prologue when they crossed a switchback
  20. Sorry to hear such bad news .Any details ?
  21. Yup ,all of the above .Clean ,straiten and reseat .Old sealant only cause leaks and extra weight.Pinched tyre or bead might leak .Never ride rough terrain with a flattish tubeless tyre .The sidewall gets pinched and a sidewall cut will develop .I had to replace a good rear tyre from riding Hakkerville,s red "roots "with a too soft tyre
