  1. What you think about Fulcrum racing zero
  2. Started doing races with Single speed .Whole new experience than on DS with gears .I have done some flat races but am aiming for more challenging events and stage events .I don,t do any training longer than 2h30 min on my own .1h on the SS is plenty .I am fortunate that i have lots of steep hills all around .Some days i only do hill repeats with easy gear ,hard gear ,standing and so on .You have to keep changing your program .Even started swimming again just to do some trianing with different muscles
  3. Flasher type ! Psycho .Best is everybody to laugh at him .He will commit suicide on his own
  4. Also seeded I .Last year my time was 3h20 on mtb ,Started from mm .No help and only traffic .Even with help it will be difficult on mtb but doable .This year on road bike .I am definitely going to try for sub 3h .Last year I slammed the roadies on the hills ,but got left on the flats .Keeping up on the flats just takes to much out of your legs ,unless you have high gearing ,like 42 sprocket in front ..If you are spent reaching the N14 .Your time reduces by 5 to 10km/h over the 2d half
  5. We should change weight weenie to weak weenie
  6. Like all carbon light weak things in cycling .They will not last .XT XT XT only!
  7. Yup ! and he paid how much for all that ?Makes me think of Idi Amin with his bottle top medals . I know now what to do with my cycling medals .Make myself a Generals uniform with lots of medals and get myself a job in Goverment!
  8. Keep current fitness .Don,t become a slob over December .5 to 6 hours a week until you hit 12 weeks before the event .Follow the training plan on Dryland ,s website for the Pioneer and you will be plenty ready .DON,t Start too early .It is all in the timing .Try and become stronger long before the 12 week plan .Singlespeed riding ,Lots of climbing .There is plenty of time to get ready !!! .Train riding with a hangover !!
  9. Let somebody with plenty extra time find one for you on the hub .Has been done before
  10. The yanks build some stunning frames .There is a whole subculture of steel frame builders in the US
  11. There is nothing like experience ! I did not even consider doing the the bottleneck 94.7 .Groenkloof was a treat with my son as always .There are only 3proper mtb events left in Gauteng for the year .Babbas ,Voriberg and Rust de winter .Choose one or all 3 .I have done all of them and they are all worthwhile
  12. Have you not noticed the classified icon at the top of this page ??
  13. just to put things in perspective .I am 6'4 and weigh 100kg .My first gear ratio was 40x15 .I am running 36 x18 now for all purpose riding .34x18 is the lowest i will go but have not used it .I have no problem stretching a new bmx chain over a weekend .I would rather not put a 10k niner frame under those pressures unnessasary
  14. Haai k .Jy onderskat jouself .Sit een uur by jou rytyd van W2W se eerste stage en jy het n moeilike epic stage .Niks moeliker nie ,net verder
  15. We are talking hard working SS frames here .Riding 3 towers with SS and all the training before .I have litterary worn out my carbon frame,s rear dropouts and changed to steel before they broke completely
  16. Nog onseker .My gesin is lus vir vakansie daai tyd .Defnitief die moeite werd en logistiek vanaf Gauteng is super maklik .Ons moet dalk n Epic saam doen ??

  18. There is a reason that everybody that have completed joberg2c on SS were riding either titanium or steel frames .Carbon specific SS frames like niner are only now getting to market
  19. What he said ! I have had both carbon and steel .Carbon frame was lekke but the rear dropouts developed play to such an extent that the wheel was not running straight
  20. Met n enkel spoed fiets wil jy nie die vurkhoek te styl he nie anders is dit moeilik om te staan en trap met die voorwiel direk onder jou as jy n opdraende uittrap .Dit geld natuurlik net vir bergfiets .Die beste raam is die waar jy meer agtertoe en regop sit [Amper al staan ] sodat jy maklik kan staan as jy moet .Kyk na die on one inbred raam se geometrie .Dit is naby aan perfek .Scott se harde stert rame het dieselfde hoeke .Momsen is effens styler .As jy natuurlik n langer voorvurk opsit kry jy dieselde of platter hoek
  21. My Crossmark,s have being used for training on tar for more than 2 years .I do 4 to 6 hours a week on tar and have done 3 road races with them pumped to 3 bar .They look hardly used .Will not use my nobby nic, x king combo for training
  22. Not a celeb ,Absa employee or Exxaro member .Only a mtb,er that looks for value for money and a memorable event .Thank goodness there are organizers like Dryland ,,Advendurance, Wappo and team
  23. The carbon frames work well ,but due to higher stress louds on the rear dropouts they can wear out .Unless it is a more robust rear carbon frame setup .Carbon frames also don't have sliding dropouts ,so you will always need some form of chain tensioner
  24. For 12k you can buy a lynskey on CRC .I paid 82 pounds for my on-one inbred when they had a sale .Best bike money ever spend
  25. Depends what you want to do with it .If you are going to ride it to buy milk at the garage on Sunday evening ,anything will do .Training, racing short or longer events will need a strong frame and chain. Belt drive will not work or last if it is the latter .My first SS had a very light carbon HT frame and a chain tensioner .This worked well until the dropouts became loose and the wheel developed play .It was very easy to swop rear sprockets with this setup .My current SS has a steel SS only frame .Much stronger and robust ,but heavier and more cumbersome to swop rear sprockets .No chain tensioner needed also .Steel, titanium ,aluminium will last .You will save at least 1kg if you go carbon rigid fork .My ideal build will be .Lynskey titanium SS 29er frame ,rockshox sid xx 120 travel fork ,Arch rims with Hope SS rear hub ,FSA crank ,Raceface 36x 18 sprocket and strong handelbars [Not carbon ]
