  1. How do you guys go about weighing bike components (can be very light e.g. brake rotors) and complete bikes at home? We use a fishing one that hangs for bikes but the accuracy isn't that good and a kitchen one for lighter stuff but it gets tricky when weighing wheels for example. Just wondered cause sometimes we want to compare stuff we have on bikes vs spare (i.e. training wheels) to see which we should use but it gets tricky!
  2. Mule? You gotta be joking oke's will think you're out on a picnic or something!
  3. Thug - Sleeveless on a roadbike uh uh!
  4. Not too elegant but damn that's good thinking! You could win something in one of the mags with a 'tip of the week' for that I'm sure.
  5. Scotty - you lazy so and so!
  6. How about fat and poor ,nah they just don't make them strong enough for my superior power to weight ratio! Ok so more weight than power but who's to know? I won't be telling that to Bruce/Marius/Etwerp and other power experts, just your run of the mill backmarker around me.
  7. For those of you using SportTracks, I see the first public beta of 2.0 is out. Just check as some features of 1.3 are not yet included (Timex data recorder import is one of those ). It is of course possible to run both at the same time for comparison . http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/Downloads/index.html
  8. Just wondering does anyone :- A) Train differently before a race depending on your 'perceived' toughness of it? B) Change your preparation in the week/days before a 'tough' race i.e. taper more, up the carbo loading etc. Personally I don't but just thinking ............................
  9. WW - so none for me ! Lucky cause I can't afford them, now when someone says why don't you have a fancy set of deep sections I can say cause they don't make them strong enough!
  10. Aaaaah Hekpoort ..................... I recall my first IronMan at Hartebeespoortdam (Schoemansville resort?), seeing an oldish chap on the cycle with a pair of slops in his shirt pockets and remember asking him why! He said you'll see later, and I did see him walking up Hekpoort cycling shoes in hand!
  11. OK so I must assume that you've done it so can make that sort of comment and it may interest you to know that no you don't start somewhere and then ride uphill for 85k's but then again ja whateva!
  12. http://www.sabiexperience.co.za/blog.php?aid=22 Looks like day 2 will be a monster :- take no prisoners? ? about 85km and 2000m of climbing!

  14. Session? Didn't they used to call a Disco that many many many years ago?
  15. I hope we're home! Pop me or LittleBen an SMS just before you get there.
  16. Hey ML I put em in and forget them! Got 1 in my son's bike and 1 in mine and he rode an 80K race last weekend and I been training with mine for a while with no adverse effects so I guess it's pretty much continue as normal.
  17. Hey Thug as a roadie you need such a mechanical device! Those okes chop and change as the terrain requires unlike the dirt guys who ride anything with what they got! In fact some of them end up with gearing similar to MTB's in the end! As LittleBen reminds me continuously, Camelbacks and triple chainrings belong on MTB's not road bikes. Roadbikes with triple chainrings are for girls!
  18. OK OK OK the freewheel stays on the wheel but anyone serviced theirs themselves?
  19. Etwerp by your description you don't even put it back, you just leave it in the stuff!
