  1. Thug - I'm gonna buy them (sorry mampara they not available!) and then at least if I go slower I can blame it on your advice
  2. Weight reduction of the total bike package not really my aim (my weight problem is on the bike not the bike itself!), was just offered the cranks at a ridiculous price and wondered if I should bother. Guess I needed some or other small benefit to ease my conscience about not just changing for the sake of changing!
  3. Ok so now that makes sense! Should I of course decide to go with the new ones I will be in contact, how close are you to the free delivery?
  4. Thug (king of bling) and Mamapara (CRC saleman), you okes obviously did not read what I wrote (I'm writing this slowly so that you can understand) I said I had an option to buy the Truvativ at a very special price (read very little!) so don't want to look at other cranks (sorry Mamapara no comm for you!). The question was simply do I replace my current FC-M540 Shimano (upper Deore non series?) cranks with the Truvativ Firex GXP's based on the following 2 criteria :- 1) are they better, lighter? 2) if 1 is true then will they be more bling? 3) if 1 or 2 is not true then should I bother at all? Capice now Looking forward to your now more constructive replies! Thug - I know I will not reach your now legendary level of blingness by changing a mere crank (and a new paint job for the Epic!) but one can only try!
  5. But Maryus I don't see a 'bling' column!
  6. In a similar vein, got oldish LX cranks (Octalink so not external BB!) on my Epic and have an option to buy a set of brand new Truvativ Firex GXP (external BB) cranks at an extremely attractive price. Are they better? Are they lighter? Blinger (Thug)? Will they look good on my newly painted Epic in a few weeks time? Very black theme and the cranks are all black and shiny!
  7. Spidey (the original!) - Daar was nie perde daar was ek was nie, gelukkig want ek en daai groot ouens kom nie goed bymekaar nie! So BTW kan jy asseblief Cycle Art se nommer PM? Yes I know it has been thrown around lately but I'm too lazy to look! Maybe the Epic will look very different soon
  8. Sjoe guys! I've come a a long way with tubeless since that time. Still think it's a sheep in wolves clothing. General thoughts on Joes is to agree that the rimstrips seem a lot thinner and less durable than Stans. Little Ben's Stans still have all the same strips in. After nearly 20months. I have had my Joes (2 sets, 1 ea on my DS and HT) since last Nov and have already replaced strips 3 times. Been using the Joes sealant only and no problem. Have had some 'non-sealable' punctures but now carry the repair kit discussed elsewhere. Have also realised that if you use proper tubeless tyres (at a price of course!) your problems can be less! Not that it doesn't work on 'normal' tyres of course, rode them for a long time.
  9. Scotty - the difference now is that it's not pink or a hand me down
  10. Be careful of the pillboxes, should they not be strong enough you can get 'melt down'! Those lights, not the LED ones luckily, create quite a bit of heat. May be better with the LED ones. That's pretty much what I have now with the smaller 38mm (I think) downlighters (not LED). Used some hobby type bottles but they melted. Now using stronger irrigation type fittings!
  11. uuuuhhhhhhmmmmmm Thug, the long awaited trail test? Konafan those are all the 50mm types which won't work so well in my existing normal downlighter setup (smaller ones)! Pity!
  12. How many volts is it? Both that is!
  13. So you're in for 800ZAR? Mmmmmmhhhhhhh, will try to go and have a look first! They're not far from us!
  14. Ai - also mailed them! Luckily I am in Highveld techno park!
  15. I want one, how much? from where or must I contact them myself?
  16. At least cycling related :- binnebandlosebuiteband - tubeless tyre
  17. Gonna have my Epic frame done by CycleArt in November, after the pre-ride but before SabieX! So I'm having the swart koffie and droe brood in the mean time!
  18. Interesting story KonaFan - I'm in a lift with a fellow Souf Effrican in Dubai, we want to make a comment about a meeting we just came out of but don't want the okes with the tea towels and soap on a rope to know. So we rattle off in Afrikaans, next thing an oldish gent who got in after us (luckily not from the same company!) says - 'omtrent tyd dat die Bokke 'n slag wen!' (Transl. our rugby team are useless, accurate? at least at the time anyway!) Good laugh had all round!!!!!!
  19. Hey Crux - our server keeps saying that these pictures are not consistent with company business and are considered of a dubious nature Very very nice - both that is! One day when I'm big ................ Where do you keep them all? Or rather do you even have a lounge suite/ TV?
  20. I never laugh at others bikes (besides The Thug - too much bling ok I'm jealous, Dirt Rider - that Morewood is unique and nice and sometimes Ewep's BB, Ok so that's just plain ugly!). In their case they deserve it. As Mampara says the bike doesn't matter go out and klap (transl. smack, enjoy, have fun etc.) it!!!! Just have fun. Bored Girl's bike even still has that chainwheel protector on
  21. That Specialized bottle cage does it for me! Good choice.
  22. Nice Rock! That chain tensioner looks cool!
  23. Oom H - Weetie, het nog nooit golf gespeel nie! Maar die laaities kan sommer 2000 of meer paintballs wegskiet oor 'n naweek se comp.
