  1. Thanks to all who organised a safe mass ride in CT this evening
  2. Use a screw driver to tighten the thumb nuts, does a much better job, just a but of an irritation.
  3. ...it just jumped in front of me...
  4. Definitively going to be there next time. Next date set for 27 Jan I see... so where is the Hubbers corner going to be this time?
  5. Silver Merida with Neon yellow flames, probably next to the Bart Simpson t-shirt ;p
  6. Not today, but this week. My new ride took me up Vlakkenberg then down Tokai Bridal path below!
  7. I'll have a look through what I've got and post some of the better ones. Haven't got all that many unfortunately, first time taking cycling pics.
  8. Was a good day of spectating yesterday. Here is a pic from the quarry jump.
  9. Had a beautiful Puffy stretched out on the gravel road at Tokai couple weeks back, luckily we missed him, seeing he was half the length of the road!
  10. Tokai is my home track but dying to try Jonkershoek, only heard good things. I guess like Tokai it helps having someone that knows the best trails?
  11. Where are the good trails in the Hex River / De Doorns and I guess Worcester area? Going up this weekend and I have heard there are some great rides around.
  12. Unfortunately there is not much ride able in the way of good off road, there are a couple of us from the Bay. I tend to ride Tokai, fairly close by and with an activity card it's affordable and the trails awesome.
  13. Thanks guys. I removed the cir-clip and found that its not a seal but only a steal washer that keeps the rod in place and it was flared. I just removed the washer and hammered it flat on a piece of granite, replaced it and not it holds better than before!
  14. Hi all Went ploughing with my bike down Tokai yesterday and in the process managed to pull the lever and ball link of my Tekro Auriga Pro's out of the piston socket. There seems to be a rubber type seal, with a Cir-Clip that holds the piston rod ball linkage on the piston, which has stretched and there is now play in the lever after I popped the ball back in. Any idea where I could get one of these seals, or has any one got one? (Pic of the part thanks to google. think its the comp version though)
  15. Just found this thread... road past you guys hard at work on Friday while riding with "MirageF1". Haven't riden Snake Eyes in a long time just because of it bad condition. All the time you guys are putting in is much appreciated. We keen to help out on the trail builds sometime!
  16. Bought other stuff from DealExtreme without problems, sometimes just takes a while to get here. I just got one off Ebay for R306 with postage, haven't got it yet so not sure on vat. but should be here by the end of the week and then I'll give some feedback. Supposed to have the "orange peel" effect reflector to help disperse the light better, the others tend to focus the light to much on a spot.
  17. Thanks for the replies. Apparently the FSA parts are also compatible, would they be easier to source?
  18. Seen one riding around the Hout Bay area too... Looks like RoxShox and some lovely 180mm discs!
  19. Hi all The middle chainring on my RaceFace Evolve XC crank is quite warn and needs replacing, probably going to replace the outer gear too while I'm at it. Any ideas as to where best to find a replacement? I might otherwise need to import which could be pricey. Otherwise does anyone have parts lying around spare in the bottom of their tool case? Regards Michiel
  20. Hi all I've got a '04 (I think) Manitou Skareb Super, SPV air front fork that came with my Merida HFS frame. I'm thinking about getting it serviced, as I don't think it ever has been. Though the previous owner mainly used it on the road it seems. Thinking about doing the service myself, as the manual gives good break down instructions etc. In this case what oils would I used that I can get locally? I'm figuring I should also replace the wipers? Starting to get a slight ring of oil on the top of the pistons after a good ride. I'm fairly new to the game, although fairly handy and have serviced and rebuilt most the bike myself already. Just don't want to fiddle and end up without a bike due to lack of oil or parts. Also waiting on a shock pump. Is it even worth doing the service myself? What would a service normally cost if I had it done? The local bike shops would all just remove it and send it away to be serviced, I could just remove it myself but who would I actually send it too? Got a contact number (I'm in Cape Town)? Apparently the imports do it. Regards
  21. Looking to buy a decent bike for myself. Starting to get into mountain biking and till now have been using an old Giant Cadex, with a couple new parts. I've been offered a Merida, HFS Matts Pro (Prolite tubing 66?) disc setup with: -Manitou Skareb Super (SPV) fork -Tektro Auriga Pro hydraulic brakes -RaceFace Evolve crank -Shimano Deore XT shifters -Mavic X223 rims ... What are peoples opinions on this bike, setup etc.? What should I look at cost wise? Got his price but not sure what it's worth!
