i have a 26" merida 96, its fitted with 2.1 monorails. the grip is good and they roll fast. i also have a Scott HT 29er fitted with Xmark rear and ignitor front both 2.1. why am i always being told that i need to fit 2.2 tires on the 29er. why do i have to fit such fat ones, does the 29er not have more grip that the 26? so why do you have to have 2.2 tires on it.

Hi Tunariaan. you mite not have to go to 180 rotors. those New XT two piece rotors are really really good. i have Elixer 5 brakes on my merida, they ok, not great. when i changed to mavic cl wheels i had to buy new rotors so i bought the XT ones. bloody hell. its like going from rim brakes to disk brakes.
