  1. If she is real pretty and have all her teeth I would not mind to be bum smacked
  2. What the hell is going on there in Cape Town. Tazers, bum smackers, egg throwers and a whole lot of bikes getting stolen! That stuff is something one would expect in Gauteng
  3. Just pace yourself from the start. Don't start to fast and burn yourself out 10-15km before the end. Rather start slow and finish strong. I for one never do a race longer than my training rides. If I want to do marathon races 70-75km my training rides will all be 80km+. That way I make sure that my legs are used to the distance and I know before the race if I am fit enough. Enjoy!
  4. Will do. If I can get off work I would like to do the Lourensford race end of September. Another awesome route that. Maybe stay a few more days and do the other routes as well.
  5. Must add that the trails there are simply awesome! Rode there quite often and filled up water bottle at some of the upper mountain streams
  6. Friend and myself had a scare there last year. He visited me whilst I was working there and wanted to show him the awesome trails. We however did get a bit lost especially with the trails they were busy setting out for the race passing through there (W2W I think). We did end up very close to the village and saw two very dodgy characters communicating with some hand gestures. I was however carrying a lot of speed at that stage and decided if they were to try anything I would use bodyweight and speed to my advantage Think most of that trails are safe though. But I would rather turn back at the rail road and not venture so close to the village again.
  7. Or if you plan on getting lost in the bush then save up for a Garmin Edge 800
  8. 1: Rudy Project Sterling 2: Whatever is most comfortable for you 3: Save up some more cash and buy yourself a Garmin Edge 500.
  9. Sure. there is indeed a lot of R&D going into the design of frames. And some of the factories in the east does not follow the exact frame building procedure as the big brand. But I do know that you can get a unbranded frame coming from the same factory where the big names are manufactured. The only difference is that it does not have the logo on it. The thing is, are you really going to notice the difference? Will that extra fraction of stiffness make such a big difference to your riding or can you compensate for that loss in stiffness by being a bit fitter? The freedom that carbon (unbranded) frames offer is that you can build up the bike to your speck and look. You will have a bike that appeals to you and will be a custom build thus you will not look like the 15 other guys on the start line riding the same bike. You can even have the frame sprayed locally with your own design. But I also dont take away anything from the commercial brands. They do offer quality products and after sales support where as with a carbon frame you are on your own to get compatible parts, importing etc.
  10. To recycle a alu frame does one not need to melt the frame? And as far as I know these melting things use a lot of power to heat up the furnace. This will mean that its not more green to recycle a frame. Not even to mention the poisonous gas/fumes that goes along with the recycling process.
  11. You will be surprised when you find our who makes some of these commercial/big brand's frames for them. And many of these Chinese companies offer warranties on frames. On top of that you can buy yourself 3 frames for the price of one commercial brand AND if you really want to you can have your carbon frame and very good components and still be in your budget. Wait wait wait, it sounds like I'm advertising here.......
  12. When I upgraded to carbon the difference was huge. The frame was much stiffer and the power gain was awesome. Carbon frames climb like rockets. I'd rather go for a carbon frame because you can always upgrade components later on.
  13. And personally I think KCNC looks way better. But then again, I am a bit of a KCNC fan
  14. I would rather have gone for KCNC. 152g for same size and no fear of a carbon post braking underneath your bum and...........................
  15. And when you dont beat them you can blame your gear ratio! Hahaha
  16. I have to cycle on tar roads to get to my favourite trails even though I dont like it And I have to do so on my S-Works (White, Red and Black) wearing my lycra And I give every roadie I encounter a go.............So deal with it
  17. I am concerned about that shock on the Silverback. Silverback's are great bikes BUT that shock's coating looks very VERY worn out. This will mean that it will leak oil and lose air pressure (if its a air shock). To fix that will mean he will have to spend at least another R450 for seals and that is IF the shock is still serviceable.
  18. I think a lot of people riding Hope, rides then for the sound it makes. It makes people notice you and sometimes they get nervous and get out of your way.
  19. And if you like a hub that makes a lot of noise then go for the Hope hubs.
  20. Drivers do that a lot on Hendrik Potgieter road. Also a lot of cyclists there.
  21. Gona try this. I also only use Squirt. Will be a much cheaper alternative to what I'm using at the moment
  22. Definitely NOT for the weight weenies!
  23. I think you will have to contact the guys at the reserve. Think the guys name is David Boshoff (012) 440 8316
  24. Guess I'll find out what the big deal is about this satellite decent in September. Will be my first time riding VG. Damm can't wait!
