I'm sure I'll also have one after swimming in Germiston Lake

    Joburg City Tri

Thanks, T - am determined to get on top of the swimming. Just got home after sneaking in a quick 50 lengths in the pool on the way home

    Joburg City Tri

I sure will be. My second triathlon ever in as many weeks Doing the Olympic distance with Ironman Thug.
  4. Thanks, I just checked Oakpics.com and there is a link there for Xterra pics but the album is empty, guess you're right about it taking a few days. Will keep checking back. I want some memories of how rookie I looked attempting my first triathlon!
  5. Also keen to see the pics, but can't find any on the Stillwatersports website. Anyone know where we can see them?
  6. Thanks, T-girl - and you too. I had such a similar experience to you, re: the calf cramp and the second buoy taking aaaaaaages to get to. Once I went round it the psychological barrier was broken, I knew I was on the home straight and I just eased into a steady freestyle rhythm. Bleakness = the fact that my t-shirt (size medium) looks like a tent on me. It must be an American medium! I had to laugh when I saw people taking their shoes and socks off for the dam wall crossing, its Xterra for goodness sake peeps
  7. Great question. I made some schoolboy errors today like taking ages in transition and also drinking too much, which caused a horrible cramp on the second lap of the run. Need to figure out what the right way to keep hydrated and nourished is. Any advice from the experienced triathletes among us?
  8. So I did the full Xterra today - first triathlon ever and only started swimming 3 weeks ago. Managed to stay calm in the water and the rest fell into place from there. The MTB was bloody technical and didn't offer much opportunity to get into a rhythm, and the trail run was insanely tough. But, hey, I loved it and will be back for more. I have to say, when we were standing at the start of the swim and I saw how far out the buoys were, I nearly soiled my chamois But, as they say, life's too short for one sport :-)
  9. Spot on. I went for another pool session this morning and its getting much better, largely due to taking it easy, relaxing and timing my breathing; rather than trying to thrash out the laps as quickly as possible.
  10. No worries, hope you heal up fast.
  11. You guys are revving me up. Think I better hit the pool at least three times this week! @T.XTERRA - is it safe to assume that the swim will be wetsuit legal? I believe it was last year.
  12. No specific medical treatment, other than having my arm in an aircast and sling for 4 weeks, followed by bandaging and a limited range of motion for a further 2 weeks. I also got a fair bit of physiotherapy - which hurt like hell in the beginning.
  13. Had exactly the same injury, cracked radial head bone after crashing at Carnival City race in 2009. Took 6 weeks to recover and I don't really have any issues now. I've been taking Arthro Choice tablets since then, at my orthopaedic surgeon's recommendation, to minimise my chances of arthritis at a later stage in life.
  14. Nice, well done, guys. I would have loved to do this one as training for Xterra, which will be my first tri at the end of the month, but I had already entered the Dischem half marathon yesterday.
  15. Thanks for the tip - am checking it out as I type this!
  16. Hmm, I'm leaning towards just buying a 310XT and donating the Forerunner 405 to wifey. My biggest concern is that Garmin are going to bring out a successor to the 310XT soon, as far as I know that model is pretty dated.
  17. Spot on, the bezel on my 405 drives me mad. It also goes haywire when I sweat on it, and believe me I sweat like crazy while running!
  18. Looks, and sounds, cool. I still think there is a gap in the market for a decent triathlon computer. At the mometn it seems like the only GPS-enable tri computer is the Garmin 310XT. As far as I am aware, there isn't really any other device that does the same thing without the need for foot, bike and GPS pods.
  19. Hey Novak, how did the gluing go, mate?
  20. Erik, that run is magic. I did the December one after you told me about it and will be back every month from now on. Its incredibly well organised. Highly recommended, Hubbers
  21. Hope you're right, mate. I just got back from 750m in the pool at the gym, and am getting more comfortable in the water. I will conquer this swimming thing Yesterday I rode 70km with some mates and then followed it up with a 10km run, felt good. I have to say, as much as I love cycling, its awesome to do more than one sport and feel a bit more well rounded
  22. CWC price was around R300 (can't remember exactly), and only one colour available, which was the Formula 1 red.
  23. Chris, I rode in my CWC kit this morning and it is AYOBA. Highly recommended to everyone, comfortable and great quality.
  24. Also loving my new S-Works
  25. Nope, this one: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=57138
