  1. Thanks, Adrian. Nice nick, dude, do you come from the north of Poland Damian is doing nicely. Its slow recovery but at least he takes a step forward each day and not backwards. Since Friday last week he has started looking visibly better each day, mostly due to the swelling coming down. Waldek posted a pretty comprehensive update on the FB page a littler earlier today, not sure if you saw that.
  2. Have to agree with you, Fairywings. First the bikejackings at Northern Farm, now this. Its becoming more and more difficult to find decent places to ride in JHB. Maybe its time to semigrate to Cape Town!
  3. Great idea. Count me in as a donor too.
  4. Great initiative, Rude. My father's law firm is making every effort to bring guilty parties to justice following Damian's accident. The information stored here can only help build the case against them. As much as I love riding in the reserve, I would rather have cyclists banned from doing so then see guys getting killed or seriously hurt on their bikes week after week.
  5. Yup, that lack of rear pivots just freaks me out... but it feels great and works!
  6. Amen to that!
  7. News from the hospital this morning is that Damian is showing further signs of recovery, albeit these are occurring slowly. It is likely that he will be operated on later today to start putting his broken skull back together. A reminder that his brothers have started a Facebook support group for him where people can be kept up-to-date of his progress.
  8. I just recently got my new MTB... here is a pic in my driveway (sorry, no couch!). Weighed it at Northcliff Cycles on Saturday, 9.68kg (size large).
  9. That's quite true, Trubie - everyone is quick to point fingers at the cyclists. I'm heading to the hospital now for morning visiting hours and will pass on everyone's wishes - thanks.
  10. Guys, please spare a thought for Damian (polish eagle's brother), who was hit by a bakkie travelling in the wrong direction while riding in Suikerbosrand on Sunday. He is in ICU and in critical condition in a coma, with head trauma, a broken arm and fractured vertebra. The story was published in the Beeld newspaper yesterday, albeit with several factual inaccuracies. The purpose of this thread is to ask people to keep Damian in their thoughts and prayers for a complete recovery. A separate thread will be started shortly, the purpose of which will be to warn cyclists of the dangers of cycling in Suikerbosrand Reserve. Sunday's occurrence, and in particular the events thereafter, as well as the facts we gathered there yesterday while collecting what was left of Damian's bike, are alarming and confirm that it is not safe for cyclists. Damian - get well soon my friend.
  11. For the record, Juan came past my place yesterday and serviced two of my road bikes, and as usual I am extremely satisfied with the service. He puts a lot of effort into keeping his clients happy and I'll continue to support him for that very reason. I'd recommend others to give him a try.
  12. So XTR is still a triple crankset for 2011?
  13. Why change at all if the Time's are working well for you?
  14. Dude, with respect, comments like that really add nothing to the discussion and are just silly. Rather keep them to yourself.
  15. I didn't say it does - in fact I agree, there are many different, better ways that this could have been dealt with. I'm just curious to know what happened. I highly doubt the guy randomly stopped and had a fanny wobble for no reason.
  16. Not to undermine the disgraceful behaviour you've just described, but what happened to bring on such an outburst? There must be two sides to the story...
  17. Bibs are such a personal thing, what works for one may not necessarily work with someone else. Personally, I rate Assos as being in a league of their own. You get what you pay for.

    Australia :)

    Good luck, Speedi!
  19. Cool, dollar - I'll give it a go
  20. Anyone have any tips for doing it quickly on a Mac? I've just made the switch, its quite novel feeling like an IT retard all over again
  21. Great pics, what a gorgeous day it was.
  22. Have to agree with you on that one.
