We have a newspaper of sorts in the Deep South called The Peoples Post. This mornings edition had a letter from a lady re cyclists and the rules of the road. I know this has been argued and debated a million times and I know that it all comes down to attitude of both cyclists and vehicle drivers. But seriously... i dont believe the rules she has stated are close to correct... Id like to write to the 'Post', to her and just maybe outline the correct rules, and also explain that 'attitude' is the cause of all the problems... still though I think she could benefit from at least knowing the correct rules... There was a 'topic of discussion' on here a while back where somebody had researched the 'rules' and posted them and alot of discussion happened re them. Can anyone send me the link to that 'topic' or a link to the actual rules please? Ive taken a pic of said article and put it up for you to understand...

i was hoping to ride Tokai tomorrow morning... is it worth it? or is it better to stay off the trails for now?

just heard on the news that a couple were robbed of their bikes in Tokai yesterday. Does anyone have any more news about what happened? time and where exactly?

In the mornings i always have to ride around a small group of runners that run in the cycle lane along the road that goes past Westlake Golf course... they refuse to move even though theres a perfectly good pavement on the other side of the road...

I see PPA are gathering along that stretch on Wednesday morning for a silent protest... Anybody know what time?

I've just seen a thread on twitter from @rideyourcity that a cyclist was killed by a golden arrow bus along the Kalk Bay main rd this morning... Terrible news!

sounds to me like you should save your money then and enter something closer to home or go enter the big tri athlons... not everyone wants to or can do an iron man or a half iron man... and its a great weekend of partying.

The hooting to warn cyclists or pedestrians is a difficult one... a sudden hoot can startle a cyclist and cause them to swerve into the line of the oncoming bus/truck/car. I feel that maybe that so called safety tip was decided on by somebody thats never cycled along a tight road with a truck bearing down on them. At the same time the laws are very simple to understand, although theyre not really that well adhered to. The law simply states that a car/bus/truck may only pass traffic (a cyclist is included in the definition of traffic) if there is enough space and if it is safe to do so.Tthe 'safe' word stands out for me... when deciding to pass... is it safe to pass... simple... can i pass this cyclist and be 100% sure that i will not be endangering his life or others lives. Of course the cyclists have to play along too and when an opportunity arises to pull off into a rest area or the likes and let motorised traffic pass then they should do that and not stay on the road holding up traffic just because the law says they may.Iit works both ways.Mutual respect. Just my 2c worth.

can somebody tell me what the 'clicking' sound is that i hear as i start my downstroke?

Ok, i found that it can be screwed back in... ive put some loctite on the thread and have put it back in... whats the rule on how tight to screw it in?

can somebody please explain whats happening here? this happened on my ride this morning. normally the round bronze 'part' should not be sticking out like that. can somebody tell me what that parts called? it doesnt screw back in. there is now a bit of 'play' on the rear fork/swingarm and when you pedal the back wheel bends away from the stroke youre on. anyone?
