  2. Congrats on your new steed, many happy miles
  3. what about voortrekker monument
  4. fountains will be crazy, especially on those short climbs, the mud there sticks to everything. But good fun
  5. I can only imagine, just hope it stops raining, its one thing if it starts raining while you riding its another if you go for a ride and its raining!!!
  6. agreed that your rear shock should not bottom out,go on you tube there is alot of videos on approaching drop offs, and how you should be positioned on your bike.
  7. Day 2. Damn I'm taking strain, on my third box of stimirol spicy cinnamon. Just realized how your head plays tricks with you. "Just one, one wont hurt"
  8. Okay so I have decided to build myself a new bike and its gonna be a 29er. My question is that when I had my 26er ht after a long ride my knees would hurt for days after. I bought a full suspension 26er and have never had knee pain again. So do I take a chance and by a hardtail because they roll better, or do I stick with tried and tested full suspension.
  9. On a new bike I would first check the cable, they do tend to stretch a little when they new.
  10. Tried to stop so many times , today is day one again. My son will be born in a month from today. Have to do it. The worst is my temper gets aggravated, and I take it out on my staff. Hope they understand
  11. All I'm trying to do is get a feel of what cyclists do or use to get up the next day and do it all over again,I've pushed myself on a couple of races over the past two years, and especially on tough events where your legs get broken.i want to start doing stage races and want to have my nutrition in order.its one thing when you train on a daily basis and the routes are usually the same and you know where you can push yourself and recover, on a race you don't know what awaits you over the next hill and you push yourself to your limits and beyond.
  12. Lets put this in a scenario,if you have just finished a stage and you get to the finish line knackered, and lets say you have been out the whole day,and tomorrow is another big day. And food is just not gonna give you what your body needs, and price was not an issue what would be your go to drink or shake or what ever else to get you back on the saddle the next morning?
  13. There are so many supplements out there, I know some guys are sponsored so they will mention what their sponsors give them, but from guys that have been there and tried whats out there what, what works for you really
  14. As far as I know the rule of thumb is 2 grams of protein per kilo of weight. Lets say I do take a after race supplement, would a proper good quality protein shake be better than a recovery shake, which would be more beneficial.
  15. I personally prefer real food,Cause I know what Im eating, but if you read some posts on other forums, some people swear by lets say USN,PVM,32gi the list carries on.
  16. So basically its mainly marketing crap.I do eat well and drink alot of chocolate milk, but lets say I do a stage race surely you have to take in something specialised
  17. There is so much stuff out there on the market, that it just confuses me more and more. Apart from training rides, on race events more than two hours what do the hubbers consume to recover and replace lost proteins and nutrients. And when should it be taken. I know alot of you guys are gonna say lots and lots of beer and boerie rolls, but can we keep it a bit serious. I am not trying to lose weight, I want to maintain my weight and build and strengthen my muscles.
  18. I ride groenies and voortrekker monument together. groenies flows nicely, voortrekker will give you a good workout its quite technical with lots of short climbs.
  19. carry one with me everyday, and not a day goes by that I dont use it.
  20. Depending on the terrain you riding,If you ride alot of technical with drop offs and stuff where you need to shift your weight back its better to have your seat a bit lower for clearance
  21. Gotta admit that lawn is really green for this time of of year, and that thumb, well nuff said!
  22. I passed you at some stage, thought your bike wouldn't make it to the end.It has to be a dry joint, get a pro to lube the linkages for you.
  23. looking good, cant wait for the day I can teach my son to ride
