  1. Im a bit late in this post.... and I dont want to read the previous post. All I can say, the shoe is more important than the pedal. A Mosh pedal more than good enough, its not you're in Rampage.
  2. Axis.. Dont trust suntour yet. Both have deore rear deralieur (Only deralieur that matters). Personal opinion, If your eye is trained better, go second hand;)
  3. Everyday I see a topic about XC/New AM guys asking what they should do to hone their technical skill. So today while I was walking up and down at a new section I built last week I thought I should post this. XC routes usually go in a circle of some sort with a single track with some technical sections. And when you ride it, you ride it once through. Say there is a obstacle of some sort which you have difficulty with, you do it once and then move on. Thus you only practice this obstacle ONCE in a week or how many times you ride!!! To really hone your skills, you need to get of your bike once your done and walk back and do it again...X20-30.. I mean you must be able to do it with your eyes closed, that is the fastest way to get your skills dialled. I'll focus on a new drop/jump for almost a day, until its second nature. This will accustom you to ride difficult sections without thinking and concentrate on more important things like lady hikers
  4. Short cage looks cooler. But most freeride/jumpbikes ride shortcage. I also have one but haven't noticed any difference yet to my longcage. Maybe if you run 3 blade it necessitate a more chain thus longer cage to keep tention
  5. I lost a few disc brakes to this, throw everything away and start over. If oil/lubricant got into the calliper its a lost case. I tried everything, from diesel, spirits, cooking it in the oven, burning, degreaser etc. You'll just end up spending more money
  6. What I got upto this morning... Forgot my beer at home BEFORE IN BETWEEN (Dragged those 2 logs on the right there myself! haha, lazy digger) WHEN I LEFT (Landing still need to get longer, want it a fast one)
  8. Also the new ZEE range (Cheaper Saint) got to get me some of that http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/04/18/shimano-unveils-all-new-saint-zee-gravity-mountain-bike-groups/ But as for the designation, I lost the plot at STX, now I just plug and play
  9. Know the feeling of pitching up at trail you've built with logs lying over it.
  10. No worries, its buried in somewhere where most people dont read, haha, just for some extra photos. Really crazy big balls on these guys..
  11. Followed those run's live few days ago. Under gravity header there is topic on the rampage with some more footage;) http://www.thehubsa....l-rampage-2012/ http://gp1.pinkbike.org/p5pb8755259/p5pb8755259.jpg
  12. If I don't sell my bike within the 1st 2weeks of getting it, its a keeper My bikes break/get stolen/canabalized before I can get to the point of selling them. Maybe I should also lose a bit more Weight, just 25kg heavier than what I was back in the day, haha. Love dropping staircases in town, at speed I dont feel the drop.
  13. Just bikes, a nice scroll down of all the bikes used http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Red-Bull-Rampage-2012-Bikes-of-Rampage.html
  14. Some sound advice, haha.. ill cry if I break my frame. With a hardtail the shock goes into your body, but think I'll go look for some slopes. Still have to get comfortable going nose first.
  15. Do them from stoepe and Pavilion stands, onto cement, not on trails though. used to do them, so rode past them the other day, and thought hit them up with the fullsus.
  16. It bottoms when I do a slow drop, like I would on hardtail, from about shoulder height/1.7m. with speed it does go better. Its not a DH bike, Intense 6.6, and suspension pretty dialled I think.
  17. So I've been riding my fullsus for a good 3 weeks now, basicely everyday. Was just wondering when it comes to drops onto flat ground (No landing/slope), what is the best approach? When I was on my STP, it meant dropping rear wheel first (trials like), but when I do it now I bottom my back out to quickly. Should I go for a more levelled bike position. Seems to be better, at speed this way.
  18. The bikes are to clean
  19. "Hey bro's..." haha, classic
  20. Since I've started riding, I've always had something for an Ellsworth! One day! http://www.bikeanalysis.com/img/577/moment-sst-2-740x555.jpg http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t212/Scuderia_F2007/PoseurBikes-34.jpg
  21. Probably some of the best old school South african rock ever, mind was blown when I heard this, haha! Colin Pratley guy has opened with pink floyd when they were in the band Freedom's Children http://youtu.be/42wjjQmKC6Q
  22. That sound... and the guy with the camera wasnt even close!
  23. All these suggestions made just prosecute the offender, but wont solve the problem, that wont bring someone back after it happened. Only way is to get decent public transport, its very hard to go out for a few drinks and find your way back without it. Easy for non-drinkers to criticise but a way is needed to get drinkers safety back home without a taxi fee of R400+
  24. As far as I saw last night its stream, but there should be a flash recorder somewhere on the net. Did anyone notice that they where a lot less protective gear than say 2010? less neckbrace, no pads... confidence!
  25. Was watching it very entertaining, looks like most points went for stuff they did at the start of the run. That transfer into the wall is sick and they've dialled it like its no biggie. Pitty Zink went out, but thats a huge gap!
