  1. Counting the days till I can have my new bike, being built up at the moment (Dont have the tools) Pics should be in tomorrow or Monday Been along month, from initial buying 31 Oct, But def worth the wait!! Edit: And obviously went over budget
  2. Know the feeling, Best one was when one person shouted at me I'm using the trail/single track the wrong way on my way down... On a single track me and my friends build/cleared. Not in Tokai but Stellenbosch. Trail runners must be on the look-out and keep Ipods out of their ears and dogs under control. Dont mind them using it, but they need to be considered.
  3. Found the cheapest (was 2011 clearance) was fox flux on buycycle.co.za. Sweet helmet!! Diald bikes also have some. Edit: Fox: http://www.buycycle.co.za/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=2388 661: http://dialdbikes.co.za/661-recon-stealth-helmet.html
  4. Just started Where the trail end Blueray and strength in numbers Download. will PM you links
  5. My cockpit setup is very easy, All my bikes, short stems (DH type) & WIDE Riser bars. Like sitting upright when pedalling. Have noticed however, those American commuter bikers like their bars narrow.
  6. Will have a look and let you know matts, pitty I woke up so late for this one.. but before this I didnt have a bike made to pedal long distances
  7. I walk all uphills, don't like getting tired, haha. But 48-18 seems bit big. Matts300, sounds like a plan. Do you know if one can buy entries, from people that can't ride anymore
  8. Just saw entries closed Maybe next year. But advice will still be appreciated.
  9. I was thinking of doing the Argus next year with my soon to be built single speed 26" on-one inbred. Not trying to get massive good time, just complete. Will be my 1st roadbike like event/ride ever, I don't do road, but I feel the Argus needs a tick on my bucket list. What gear ratio's would be advised? 32-16 is what I have at the moment.
  10. 2.5-2.8 bar... Tubes, 2.5 tyres, not taking chances for snakebites. Grips plenty.
  11. I only buy second-hand, but that is a rip-off. For second hand you should be looking at around 1/4 to 1/3 of the price, if its not, just wait awhile something better will pop up.
  12. Throw everything away. there will always be a little bit left and will restart the process off lube.
  13. I ride my essential tools and lots of Quick-ties in camelback( but then again, don't do the road thing). I usually break something in a ride, or something comes loose.
  14. I was in the same situation. Bought a jump bike, but enjoy the AM and DH much more with the full sus. BTW I ride in shorts or jeans. No way ill don those tights
  15. Just put my order in for an In-bred+ SS goodies
  16. Saint:) if I could I would. At least I have the cranks!
  17. Has those oldschool horizontal dropouts, no need. Was looking at it, but bit high according to me, going to attempt one myself soon.
  18. Sorry, might sound like trolling, but your bunnyhop method is not right, no need for pedals to stick. Your bike follows your motion Edit: Yes I can clear 1m with a still standing bunnyhop
  19. Sorry, last comment, the guy at the skate shop can keep his mouth shut. The last skate shoes that could take proper riding was Vans VMX shoes, all the current shoes are useless. Had a pair of Kustom shoes, got them down to my socks within 3 weeks. My next investment is 5-10.
  20. I see you in somerset, got a pair of mosh pedals in the toolbox you can try, good for practice and no way you can break them
  21. Im a bit late in this post.... and I dont want to read the previous post. All I can say, the shoe is more important than the pedal. A Mosh pedal more than good enough, its not you're in Rampage.
  22. Axis.. Dont trust suntour yet. Both have deore rear deralieur (Only deralieur that matters). Personal opinion, If your eye is trained better, go second hand;)
  23. Everyday I see a topic about XC/New AM guys asking what they should do to hone their technical skill. So today while I was walking up and down at a new section I built last week I thought I should post this. XC routes usually go in a circle of some sort with a single track with some technical sections. And when you ride it, you ride it once through. Say there is a obstacle of some sort which you have difficulty with, you do it once and then move on. Thus you only practice this obstacle ONCE in a week or how many times you ride!!! To really hone your skills, you need to get of your bike once your done and walk back and do it again...X20-30.. I mean you must be able to do it with your eyes closed, that is the fastest way to get your skills dialled. I'll focus on a new drop/jump for almost a day, until its second nature. This will accustom you to ride difficult sections without thinking and concentrate on more important things like lady hikers
  24. Short cage looks cooler. But most freeride/jumpbikes ride shortcage. I also have one but haven't noticed any difference yet to my longcage. Maybe if you run 3 blade it necessitate a more chain thus longer cage to keep tention
  25. I lost a few disc brakes to this, throw everything away and start over. If oil/lubricant got into the calliper its a lost case. I tried everything, from diesel, spirits, cooking it in the oven, burning, degreaser etc. You'll just end up spending more money
