  1. probably cant compare with the other knives on here as its not a pure knife, but got this on the way in the post. Was looking for something with proper blade and usable pliers, dont like frigidity small tools. Really like leatherman's quality, especially their guarantee is unbeatable and no questions asked. http://www.leatherman.co.uk/images/products/skeletool/Carousel/skeletool-blade.jpg
  2. True, all the real sweet bikes are a rarity around these parts, seems like a semi monopoly between certain brands. But think its all due to market demand. South Africans want their bikes with big wheels and a big "S" on the head tube
  3. Saw they are monitoring Eden as well at the moment, a guy at the gate and a bakkie doing patrols around the area
  4. then I'd say go bike shop, nut is a tricky part. I never knock that in. Like biersteker said, the bike shop will install fork it for free or for a minimal fee like R20 while you stand and wait/watch.
  5. Ussualy its just plug and play swapping forks around. Just make sure you have enough spacers, if the steerer is longer. Only thing that ussualy gives me hassles is removing the crown race, which is the ring on the fork which allows it to move on the bearing on the headset. Other than that, watch a vid on youtube and you'll be able to swop it yourself. Nothing heavy technical involved.
  6. For some, but for someone who like me who want 1x10 the cheapest way in the next day or 2 I thought this would be helpful.
  7. Jip, for example, there were no cheap Shimano shifters currently available from you, so opted for the more expensive sram RD, which could could be used with the cheapest shifter from sram
  8. Not same spec at all, just took the cheapest available, meaning cheapest type2/shadow+ derailleur, etc.
  9. After about 3 years hitting the SS down the rail I decided time to get some gears again. Did this quick comparison last nigh and thought i'd share, for anyone looking for cost estimation at the moment, this was my estimation between the 3 shops I usually use. EDIT: just took the cheapest options and jotted them down. I ended up with around R2200, which included a more expensive Zee derailleur (wide range), extra cable housing, better cassette&chain and insured postage
  10. Yoh, thats rough... I once put gloves in my a R3000 parts order and had to pay 40% on the whole shipment
  11. CRC import probably fastest. This is on their distribution site for SA: SOUTH AFRICA International Trade 473 jan smuts avenue blairgowrie, johannesburg, south africa phone: +27-11-781-5324 fax: +27-86-503-6547 web: www.intltrade.co.za mail: info@intltrade.co.za

  13. They are good for nothing implements of self punishment without purpose. I have 2, soon to be 3 SS bikes. Do not connect any logic to it, because if you do, its not the right bike for you. You can reliability deliver post with the bikes, if we need to connect a purpose, but then again, most fixies cant Overall, I don't think you'll get much reason for these bikes from the members... but if you're looking for tech help on SS/Fixies, you'll get a tonne of replies:)
  14. Start downhill or some aggressive trail riding.. you'll have a full work out like a swimmer
  15. I really dont care what people ride, as long as it doesnt make noise or smell. also if you want too look like a idiot riding/ spending big bucks (only 5300 euros) to ride something like this, im all for it, haha http://www.nicolai.net/files/01_11.jpg http://attitudebikes.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/305133_190260544377426_128918397178308_458539_4961515_n.jpg
  16. Freeing downhill to my House, me and my brother start freeing from the top of the hill to our house... so no evidence I can bring you you, luckily I don't have to prove it. Everytime we come from the mountain, he had his GT 29er Zaskar, and I changed wheels every now and again. Had a set of Shimano deore hub wheels, other set Nukeproof generators and then this set, all was on Kenda small blocks. Ive been riding long enough to know when one goes down the hill faster relatively to my brother. As for the the facts, read into i as you want... im not doing an academic thesis, so really not going to put more effort in. im not going to tell you who won the 26vs29 freeing war down the hill
  17. I have no idea what a IDT is.. as for bikes, you can select bike for each ride. I have 2 bikes and with each session I'll select my SS or geared bike, and it will show, but wont completely separate it.
  18. That "rear spoiler" of the flux is awesome to keep goggles in place on muddy DH days
  19. Almal weet helmets is vir noobs, haha EDIT: check vanaf 3min http://youtu.be/FuIBKEbK7us?t=3m9s
  20. Here's the link: Seems a bit more Observed trials flavour
  21. I have a set of these lying around in my garage, one of the fastest wheels i've ridden. Used them once or twice when I went for a fun ride. Not putting them in classifieds, but if you're in a hurry, they're available. http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/components/wheel-sets/product/review-easton-xc-one-20218/ http://images.singletracks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/picture-82.jpg http://images.internetstores.de/products/08_Easton_Laufradset_XC_One_Disc_MTB_1024x768%5B1024x768%5D.jpg
  22. Sorry to hear about the loss, not lekker. Im always surprised not more bikes get rekt by being on the roof. I think its one of the dumbest ways to transport a bike
  23. some prototype stuff on here http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/2/photos/79235/s1600_Pro_Bike_Check_Brian_Lopes_Intense_Tracer_275_3.jpg?1405963541 http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/2/photos/79266/s780_Pro_Bike_Check_Brian_Lopes_Intense_Tracer_275_34.jpg?1405964572 Should build me one of these: http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/2/photos/79265/s780_Pro_Bike_Check_Brian_Lopes_Intense_Tracer_275_33.jpg?1405964539
  24. no!!! Hit the single track! you will go off your rocker riding flat stuff, haha. Riding is about having fun as well as getting fit. Then one might aswell get a indoor trainer... at least then you wont get hit by car! Living in the cape means we have some of the sweetest trails
  25. only thing that breaks for heavy people are wheels, just make sure its got a good wheelset, and if its just gravel roads, then most would probably work. Im not sure how good the wheels on those bikes are, call me a snob, but I only ride good brand wheels, (Spank and Easton's). But Im also 100kg+ and havent had a problem with them. cheap wheels in my book is a no-no, and those dont look like sweet hoops. Search the hub, think somewhere there was a thread about people talking about how those syncros on the scott were useless. EDIT: As for suggestions, I dont have any, my view of MTB's are dated, I still believe 26
