  1. Sorry to hear about the loss, not lekker. Im always surprised not more bikes get rekt by being on the roof. I think its one of the dumbest ways to transport a bike
  2. some prototype stuff on here http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/2/photos/79235/s1600_Pro_Bike_Check_Brian_Lopes_Intense_Tracer_275_3.jpg?1405963541 http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/2/photos/79266/s780_Pro_Bike_Check_Brian_Lopes_Intense_Tracer_275_34.jpg?1405964572 Should build me one of these: http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/2/photos/79265/s780_Pro_Bike_Check_Brian_Lopes_Intense_Tracer_275_33.jpg?1405964539
  3. no!!! Hit the single track! you will go off your rocker riding flat stuff, haha. Riding is about having fun as well as getting fit. Then one might aswell get a indoor trainer... at least then you wont get hit by car! Living in the cape means we have some of the sweetest trails
  4. only thing that breaks for heavy people are wheels, just make sure its got a good wheelset, and if its just gravel roads, then most would probably work. Im not sure how good the wheels on those bikes are, call me a snob, but I only ride good brand wheels, (Spank and Easton's). But Im also 100kg+ and havent had a problem with them. cheap wheels in my book is a no-no, and those dont look like sweet hoops. Search the hub, think somewhere there was a thread about people talking about how those syncros on the scott were useless. EDIT: As for suggestions, I dont have any, my view of MTB's are dated, I still believe 26
  5. They will all be reliable, for the amount of riding you plan on doing. The issue with these bikes usually come with wheels not being tough enough, but for stuff like the burger, I doubt it will go above the bikes limits. I checked the secondhand bikes, I saw people are ridiculous with their prices on gumtree, basically asking the original price. Bike like that should be round R3500 in second hand market.
  6. Joh! that seems like a lot of money these days, for such low spec. I would not buy one of them. But the silverback has the best components of the lot, if one has to choose a better of the evils. Check bike shops for last years stock. Got hold of an entry level bike for my mother at 2/3 of the original price, with similar spec (ended up around R4800). I was shocked to see the lack of build quality on entry level bikes, half of the bikes we looked at still had screw on cassettes! Not to mention the plate stamped chainrings. Would've thought better tech came down to the lower price bracket, but everything seems china mass produced.
  7. I mailed OLX, since they dont have report button like Gumtree, they said they'll remove ad and ban user. I hate fraudsters like these to my core, although I believe gullible people should knock their head every few times, haha
  8. They all look nice but pretty expensive (Aka not in my budget), for the cheapskates like me the Fox Flux is a winner, had it now for 2 years, used as my DJ to all-mountain lid.
  9. Your body adapts, takes a while though. Officer training in the Navy, we had about 3-4 hours sleep on a day for the 1st 7 months, 7 hours academic classes/studying and the rest was physical training. Didn't have coffee or long lunches, but body adapted, without any stimulants. Edit: And if you fell a sleep in class, it meant a Trip to the GB anchor on the mountain or a swim round to bikini beach if you were lucky http://www.southafrica.to/accommodation/Cape-Town/Gordons-Bay/images/gordons-bay-gb.jpg
  10. Its right in the end, absolutely insane! http://vimeo.com/99770964 this guy can join up with the helmetless fraternity, haha
  11. Got to go sell my Hardtails right now, lol... And I dont ride anything except singletrack/trails/DH... All my bikes are hardtails at the moment My advice is buy the one that looks the best/most apealing, as that is the way you'll probably be riding, haha
  12. That cap only needs to be hand tighten, any tighter and it may lock.
  13. Ghetto fit?? You only need an allen key to tighten it properly?
  14. One of my favourite movies of all time, also incredibly underrated. Equilibrium http://youtu.be/ZVDiaYQXBVs
  15. My bell: Also makes other bikers feel inferior, due to the fact that they cant greet me back when I greet them with a smile and a ring-ring. have to admit, ringing it more than I should... maybe also because I don't have shifters to entertain my thumbs
  16. I have a bell... Runners, please take your earphones out while running. 90% of all runners i come across run with it in their ears... They are totaly oblivious to anything happen around them
  17. Do people actually use them? All I know is, give no one permission to tow my car. If necessary leave car at the scene and organize a tow-in from the garage you will be doing repairs
  18. lol... indicators
  19. Die hub is nog baie rustig http://s2.quickmeme.com/img/6d/6dcd0a898ba98885699820e59eb67ac7363a139b225d0ae93363d0ef9cacc0c0.jpg http://www.lolhome.com/img_big/welcome-online.jpg
  20. But some solid advice... google what happens/where the error occurs, and I bet you 1000+ people have had the same problem and one of them was nice enough to write a step by step guide how to fix it. I have computers/laptops over 10years old, all running in the same condition as when I got them.... and I know very little about computers, but with the internet&google, anyone can fix a computer.
  21. Not even in the "off-topic" section, haha... there is so many things that factors in here, this thread should be deleted. By computer is broken... please fix.... whats broken? I feel for all the IT/network/ computer/mac support out there
  22. take off all the gears, SS is by far the most reliable!!
  23. That 1st scene reminds me of Jonkers drive, haha
  24. Anyone game for some sessions this june/July around campus or where ever. Got 2 months holiday and an empty campus. Let me know if anyone keen to join. Can be trials, DJ, BMX or whatever you riding style is, we can find some spots
  25. thought mountain biking started as rogue riders, cutting paths in municipal Forrest... if it wasnt for the rogues, pressure wouldnt have been there to create the routes. Come catch me,lol
