  2. Thought half of the hub members do not ride in mud, due to wear and tear,haha...

    Which brakes?

If you have both, take one for a ride on a Saturday morning and the other one on exactly the same route the next Saturday and feel which one does the job the best. my guess is there wont be much difference. As for scarcity of formula brake pads, nothing is scarce anymore with online shopping;)
  4. Those frames are not SS specific, so you'll need something similar to this to keep tension, as well as the rear cog(although you can break up an old cassette and use on of those rings) http://dialdbikes.co.za/dmr-single-speed-conversion-kit.html http://dialdbikes.co.za/images/thumbnails/0/250/b1dc10e2-a88a-4bd2-b8ef-9de900bf9e2b_800x800.jpg As for the front, just remove 2 blades (most basic), but for better results you can buy a SS specific chainring without pick ups, which people say run smoother (I dont know, because I have only run single front) Not sure if 10 speed chain will work on SS specific rings, but an SS chains are cheap as chips, from like R70
  5. Now the wait begins! got Frame ordered from Diald (Awesome service from them, once again!!) and rear wheel on its way from CRC. Lets hope all the parts fit together as planned will probably go brakeless for 1st few weeks, as its the cool thing to do, (have some brakes spare, but they will need some attention)
  6. The diald bikes one is a 150-157 mm DH spec hub, ussually wont fit a normal bike. The EVO one is the right one.
  7. Ive got the nukeproof Generator Hub from CRC (135mmx12mm). Awesome hubs and noisy enough to chase all wildlife and hikers away.... did I mention they are yellow There is also a Syntace adaptor and QR for the hub, if you find out you need 142mm or want QR
  8. Thanks, will see if i can get hold of him.
  9. There is a M9 specific bolt, and then one for all the other frames, would be awesome if you might have one:) so M9 one wont work Here is link to bolt http://fanatikbike.com/product/intense-cycles-shoulder-bolt-ncs-6667.htm And also uploaded picture, but no rush, as bike is not used at moment
  10. My shoulder bolt on my Intense 6.6 is missing, think it fell out, or I misplaced it while taking bike apart to remove brakes, anyhow, its missing:/ Does any one perhaps have a spare one (1 :1000000000 chance ) Or can point me towards someone that can source it or make it? Cheapest I could find is from fanatic bike company which will work me out around R400 Picture of the bolt (mine still solid, not like the new ones) http://fanatikbike.com/merchant/1547/images/large/shoulder-bolt-ncs-fro.jpg
  11. already did! cant wait, just waiting for monies to roll in before I can push the buy button Did you get the wheelset from them aswell? only place I could find a 10mm bolt wheelset was from CRC
  12. Decide im going to build me a Dartmoore quinnie similar to this, except all black, will work out bit cheaper than trial bike. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb8143550/p4pb8143550.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7NEzKd7SYt4/TWUYTnk6jnI/AAAAAAAAAI4/oOhCivnnCEE/s1600/IMG_1323.JPG
  13. Nice bike, but price a bit steep, for all the upgrades i migt need to do. Just wish i bought some of the 2nd hand bikes last year. The going rate was around R3k to R6k, with proper spec.
  14. STP is an awesome bike, can easily be used as a street trials bike. Jeff lenosky has been riding the STP for years(still is riding one) and there is very few people in the world that can compare to him. Id rather go for a street trial build, much more versatile than a pure trials bike and can still do exactly the same as you would on trials bike I had exactly the same model as this one, wasn't heavy at all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3uMgzhn3JQ http://youtu.be/0IKuRdgcUVI http://youtu.be/3Ed8PUb-VD0 http://youtu.be/vApUMdQXkoU
  15. Think Im getting off the Enduro train... It is just a money making scheme, like 29'ers, we all know deep inside, enduro is was just the average joe's MTB'ing, before it was given a name... A market bracket was discovered and now exploited. But not complaining, the tech that cam from all this market investment is sweet, the normal average joe like me would've never have been able to afford long travel single crowns, twin piston brakes or Narrow wide chainrings, if it wasn't so popularized (economy of mass production). Peace:)
  16. Spank rims, only rims I like and they are not boring: Get them from CRC http://spank-ind.com/
  17. Nice colour scheme on here
  18. Nee jis, SS own, is al wat ek nou ry. Ek het my fullsus se shock oorgebou, en die res van die fiets ge-mothball en in die garage se dak gestoor
  19. And make sure the landing is big, WIDE, well thought out and smooth. You can still jump a sketchy take off, but a sketchy landing is asking for moeilikheid. Also helps alot if you have bigger target and knowing.
  20. Skidding makes your braking distance further, as there is less traction on the tyre (thus less resistance to stop), than when you gradually braking, keeping traction (More resistance on the ground) Edit: As soon as the wheels lock, the resistance coefficient is that of the Tyre to ground, in stead of Brake pad to rotor
  21. Front brake stops you quicker. I use front brake a lot more than rear brake. Maybe learn the habit of front braking, as its much more effective than the rear, which has to do Traction, Braking and (on full sus) move a lot. I run a 203mm front and 160mm rear
  22. Here's link to the Dakine ones, Thule ones are bit more expensive: https://swindle.co.za/shop/bike/mtb-accessories.html
  23. I have a 34:16 on a 26'er and ride only mountains here in the cape, and spin out as soon as it goes flat, If its a 26", that ratio will not be much fun riding with non SS guys. I'd rather push last part of a climb, but be able to go faster on a straight.
