  1. Talking to you
  2. Look after the cubs Bagheera
  3. where do you ride in the spruit for 6 hours - really slowly?
  4. Had a wheel like that on Epic - got it strightened enough to carry on riding, but even after a visit to the LBS, it is still not totally straight. Gets the wobbles if you try to ride with no hands - better to replace.... Sorry to bring the topic back to the point
  5. I receieved such an eMail - they look Standard Bank branded et al. The link is not to Standard Bank, but you would not know it. Be aware
  6. CAn you get a 29er Spex?
  7. I had the same problem - a huge bubble on the front wheel - not nice going fast downhill. My LBS said it was a problem with the layers seperating, and air getting between them. Think this is why the link to the sealants come from - the sealant does not allow the air to leak back into the tyre. Theoretically you could pierce the bubble and their should be no problem - I just replaced the tyre.....
  8. Agreed about the course - makes a change to ride some single track at the farm - too often we just ride the same dirt roads. from now on I am going to "explore" the farm
  9. Sorry - if it was too stiff - was probably still set up for my weight... yes the idea behind the 29er is that the geometry is different. The GF was set up more aggressively than the Niner. Battled initially with the size around a twisty track, but liked the ability to sail oiver the roots
  10. Got to ride 2x29" the Niner and Hifi Worth the money. Did my normal ride then rode the 2 bikes, so could compare the 26" against the 29er. Also saw a guy testing a singlespeed - great if you are testing these different options
  11. Try http://www.jacanacollection.co.za/list.aspx?mn=2&st=23 this website has a couple of options - have tried some - Thabaphaswa was a great experience. From there you can ride to and round the Percy Fife game reserve - yes they let you ride with the buffalo's. There are other rides as well
  12. only issue in Dec is the heat - better they do not run out of water then
  13. Yip - PM when you have pricing and a description of how you would attach to the bars - presume too big for the helmet?
  14. We used Anatomic - they were good and designed some kit for us - I think though that they require minimum of 10. We were also a team of different sizes, but they also did us 2 types of shorts (padding) for multiday events. They also did matching wind breakers, raincoats etc.
  15. I had a hole that took two "snollies" to fix - the hole stayed fixed - did Sani2C etc with the fix
  16. The cops had a search this afternoon on Bryanston Drive - near Cambridge. Either looking for illegals or they have a Xmas party to pay for Maybe we should get to see if they will do this on 12th? I always see them on Bryanston checking papers etc, but never 12th
  17. Desert Bash looks tough - 360 km Weather can make almost any race tough - heat, wet etc
  18. I store my bladder in the freezer with about 500ml water - that way when I need it in summer, I have cold drink the whole way - just watch that the ice does not block the tube. The ice in the tube melts quickly so that does not present problems. You get used to how to store that you get the it easy to open to add more "drink", and then to getthe liquid out without blocking the tube. I have used mine for 3 years with no issues - taste or otherwise.
  19. I heard the other day - someone had done a costing of maintaining their mtb - R2.00 per km. Anyone done an actual costing?
  20. Look at the weather forecast just before the race - 3 years ago it was freezing for the first 2 days, and there was rain - if there is rain, take break pads, and mud tyres
  21. Had the same on one of the Euro's - lost a bolt. They replaced when I went to buy one - gratis

Thanks for all the feedback - my son is about 1.5m - would that qualify him to step up to a small adult bike?

Don't know if this has been raised before I am looking at getting a bike for my 10 year old - what is a good option? He had a Makro special before, but looking for something slightly upmarket from that. Are second hand bikes an option - have not seen them at the lbs Thanks
  24. sorry missed you - we were staying well out of town and so had to leave early
