  1. Thanks GhostF. That is what I need. Somthing that will work 1st time.
  2. Specialized will wake up when they loose customers . If they said we will make xs, s, m 26er's and m, l, xl 29er's I would say fantastic idea there mate!
  3. Hi all, where can I get a headset to run a normal straight steerer in an overdrive 2 frame of an Anthem. Or how would I go about resolving the problem? Thanks.
  4. again. I will say. each have their use. ride open flats and my 29 rolls far better. have to gun it and go around corners and the 26 just handles soooo much better and feels easy 50% faster. Nope have not times as I am not at that level. But both have their job. and the pros ride 29's the sam ereason they ride 26's. They get sponsored with it and have to use it and have to paise it. Just the way marketing works. So you all have 26' bikes. Our market is only so big. HOw does the importers keep the ball rolling? Telling you 26 is obsolete and sell you a 29'. A whole new market again. At this point neither is better to me as both have advantages and drawbacks. If I were to go ride a jeep track and lighter I will take the 29. If there is single invoved then the 26 FS takes it for me. I just feel so much more in control. edit: btw I am 1.77m @ 1.9+ I could understand that 29 may be more handleble and a 26 feels like a BMX.. Shorter.. mmm...
  5. damn! if this is true I must hold onto and buy up all the 26ers. They will only increase in value
  6. Oooo no I dont do the manboob thing. Would have had to resort to a stuffed bra. And I am sure I can hide the girly-ness in my ride for 20km But so glad you realise that we are required for direction at least Edit: damn! forgot about the shaving. I can do the tights but hell I aint gonna shave There goes my cover!

    Stack heights?!

A good mate of mine always says (and yes he can ride). Set it up reach and height wise so that your hands are the same height as your arse and that when you ride and you look down the handle bar blocks out the front axel. I have played around with many different setups cause I and places like the hub "know better" but have to admit his suggestion still feels the best balance...
  8. Nice one! When I move to Jhb I will have to grow a set of boobs and come join you with my son I already ride like a girl so no need to change there
  9. mmm... you are the same height as me. border line medium / large. Could be interesting. Am sure some of the other guys here will pipe in. I have a large and a medium talon 29 frame. Rode the large a while. thought it too big in beginning but grew on me. rebuilt on the medium. feels too small now Am sure you will get used ot it. Will be 100% fine on all but the most hectic single track. What stem have you got on there. Play around with 50 and 70. I settled on 70 on the large. 50 was also alright. Have the 70 on the medium now.
  10. Give it some time. If your first time it will feel odd on a 29er. What lenght are you and what bike is it?

    Happy Bday!

thanks. Been collecting parts for about a year. He is very excited. keeping in mind the frame was a wreck when I got it. stripped and redid the rear triangle and re-clearcoated the front. Only things new on there is the front derailer and the headset

    Happy Bday!

Just in time. For my 10y no 11y old. Happy bday Christopher! You are the light of my life... ps: I know the brake piping is too long. Waiting for TBS stock on olives and barbs Will be testing it tomorrow for sure. Wanted to move the SLR's from his XTC but he likes the silver spokes of the LX hubbed Alex rims. Am sure he will change his mind when he rides them both side by side. As it stands with those wheels and tubes with stans in she comes in at a respectable 12.6kg.

  14. what size is the tracker devices on the market now that you put inside your car tyre? Surely the is very small and light else it would destroy your wheel balance. I think that will already fit inside the bike frame without a problem. No need for new tech to be developed. What is the company called again? Also like the RFID idea. The second hand market for stolen expensinve kit will dry up if cops confiscate your bike if found stolen at a race. Still think the current car tracking tech will be fine. Put in BB up the front tube and off you go. No thief will strip the bike to check before moving it.
  15. axis is to Scott what Titan is to Merida right? At that price it does look pretty good. At least you know the geometry is more or less sorted. Recon silver up front is alright. Only real question is the wheels I suppose? For me I will wait for another two years before a new bike. By then the manufacturers would have moved back to putting Shimano groupies on their bikes edit. I see the wheels are 2.5kg, which is pretty heavy.... At least the Giant ones are 500grams lighter...
  16. I have one of the real al-cheapo racks that you clamp on the towbar. Takes three bikes that hang by the frame. Must say I wasnt sold when I got them and soon realised that the wind has some control over the bikes in their stock format. I have however modified the rack so the mounts cannot move along the rails whiles still allowing them to rotate. With this I hang the rear part of the frame from the bit of vetical frame below the seat post clamp with the front supporting the frame somewhere along the top. This way the bike sits centre behind the bakkie and the wind is not so much of an issue anymore against the bikes. Also the stress on the frame is reduced ten fold by the rear mounting option. Do I feel worried the clamp will pull off and the bike will drop? Yeah I am but it hasnt yet and it just forces me to make sure the seat/seatpost is really well secured
  17. wtf? did someone die? That is just so impossible I would have though it is from a Will Farrel movie!
  18. may me and my ten year old for the short one. sounds like fun.
  19. how old are you? I find that of late my body just takes that much longer to recover. I recon for a 35+ year old stuff like that can take years if bad. But I would not get dispondant if it still bugs you after 3-6months if it was not too bad. Knees, like shoulders and elbows etc, just take long cause they are used all the time. I once ran into the wal playing squash and my shoulder got tweaked. Took 3 years to sort itself. Suppose I should have gone for an op
  20. at the moment the weather looks perfect. no wind mid teens in temperature with no rain leading up to event. But this is the Cape. That is likely to change 20 times in the next 5 days
  21. lol!!! dude. if you had any hope of being taken seriously you certainly sank that with this one :D
