  1. Seen this before - watch out, it looks like fun but it's one of those hidden subscription services. Check the small print.
  2. I get shot down in flames everytime I moan ('cos I moan way too much, dude) about this. Yes good riddance. My beef is that our emergency services are so thinly stretched that there's a chance somebody's child isn't getting the help they might need after an accident. Just to keep some arrogant half wit alive.
  3. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  4. If you ride a bike on someone elses property, you have no rights. MTB's give way to everything. So your ride was 'spoiled' for a few seconds, how was the rest of it? And all the others? Pretty cool eh? Great place to ride, Tokai, rather just be grateful we're allowed to be there at all.
  5. JB - I guess this is for you. I recently had my Bianchi Levitation wheels re-spoked (correct terminology?). They came back way heavier, I was suprised at the weight difference when i picked them up. I know that there are flat spokes and round ones, and these are round. Evidently there are different types of round ones too. I'd like to get them done again - any recommendations as to what to specify ths time?
  6. Hi JB I can't resist rising to this one. These Cello's have been designed and engineered to sound like Cello's. In the testimonials section most of the artists say that the tone surpasses that of wooden instruments, is that down to the material alone, or the design, or the construction. Or maybe marketing? I don't see a cut and dried argument either for or against the material, just one that says Louis and Clark make some beautiful, great sounding instruments. Composites have been used in the construction of stringed instruments for decades. Ovation are probably the most famous, developing a proprietory composite called lyrachord. This is used primarily for the body of their acoustics. Some of their acoustics have used composite soundboards, and some traditional wooden ones over the years. I have owned 3 Ovations, and have found they stay in tune really well, the necks are very stable and play well, but i have never enjoyed the tone. It's a personal feeling i get from the instrument. Same with a bike.
  7. I've heard of one before, I'd also like to join in. Anyone?
  8. Thought I'd go for a nice easy spin up Chappies yesterday morning. Ha. I was knackered when I got home. Today was lovely though, did a cool 80k's in perfect weather. A couple of years ago I got blown into the armco barrier going down Victoria, just couldn't stop it from happening. Into the armco, and over the edge all still clipped in. My wife laughed her ass off. Thanks to some Cycle Lab Westlake guys for stopping and pullling me back up - I ended up about 5m down the hill looking into the sea. I'm still nervous in the wind.
  9. The Fox Flux (?) is a nice helmet, but a bit heavy and without a lot of vents might get a bit hot for long rides. I use one for short trail type rides, and have a Giro Atmos for road and XC. What will you be using it for? If I could only keep one of them - Giro no question.
  10. Welcome If it's straight and everything works, cool. No harm in bargaining a bit though..... You're gonna dig mountainbiking.
  11. Dude - Magura Louise WAY better than Juicy 3's. Rather get them sorted, those are good brakes.
  12. I swear at other cyclists. The ones who scream 'keep left, keep left' when they are chasing 4000th position on Argus day.
  13. What would the motivation be for a non pro rider to dope? One can understand (but not condone) the pressures of sponsors, media, money, nationalism etc pushing a pro to dope. But what's in it for a weekend warrior? And, sorry, yes if you're not a pro you are a weekend warrior.
  14. DO ... not nice calling your fellow cyclists ankers! Just 'cos he rides a bike doesn't make him a fellow anything of mine.
  15. So lets just stick our heads in the sand and not bother? Way to make a difference. I don't give a sh*t about the idiot riding 3 across getting mown down (but that would result in a huge boo hoo session on the hub), i care about ME having to share the road with motorists who see us all as arrogant road hogs, because of pricks like that. I guess you won't reply to this because you'll have 'moved on' to be apathetic about something else.
  16. Does everyone have to piss in their pants every time they see cyclists riding three abreast and then come post it here? It's not gonna change... Let it be and move on...4 5 sakes You too.
  17. Riding 3 abreast from Bakoven to Camps Bay is not cool. Especially you in the Vida Cafe kit - wanker.
  18. Camps Bay Robots. Stop at red light (good boy!), can't unclip. Lean on robot pole, clever..... Not! Lean over too far, can't push back up to vertical, still can't unclip. Wait 3 robot changes before giving in to the inevitable. Just let go and wait to hit the ground. A very kind pedestrian helped me to unclip by taking off one of my shoes. Nothing has managed to embarass me on a bike after that.
  19. This question seems to come up a lot with carbon frames. The usual reply from the bike mag Q & A's is that carbon frames can amplify and transfer noises, which on other frame materials would either never be heard, or would be easy to pinpoint. Creaky saddle bolts can sound like BB's, cables rattling can sound like headsets. etc. Hopefully it's nothing serious - good luck.
  20. Road Bikes = Italian MTB = Canadian
  21. What do you think?
