  1. Looks like Kudoa. Found some in natal snoek a few times, didn't kill us or make us sick once cooked. Overcooked, over garlicked and over chillied it thoguh
  2. Over my dead body
  3. Finally, a real doctor (and one who knows pisspumps as well)
  4. Dude you look seriously lost in that pic We've learnt from Critical Mass that these are the guys you put a bib on and give a whistle. The are then in their element, racing from the back of the pack to the front, to stop in an intersection and wait for everyone, then race forwards again
  5. Ooh ooh thanks doctor!
  6. If you ask a cycling forum, you're either gonna get a comment like above or a "go for it" When you ask a doctor, you may get a straight answer. Personally I'd not risk it, if you are sick you're sick and you need to recover. If you damage anything else it's going to take even longer to recover. But hey, I'm not a doctor, and this is a cycling forum, so go for it
  7. Must be some idiot that's probably wearing Lycra and has clipless peddles ... damn dirtroadies are taking over the holy grail of downhill trails!
  8. First ride of more than 100km. Not bad for an old fat bloke on a cheap farmgate methinks
  9. We leave at six, most of us are either a) in base training or 2) unfit or iii) lazy so the pace will be under 20km/h avg. It's very flat as well most of the way. Yes, we're looking at around 100km total, but some guys are meeting their spouses that side to make it 60 and some are meeting us there making it 30odd km.. We leave the Maniyak cycles shop at around 6 on sunday morning, hoping to be in Cullinan around 9:00 to 9:30 and have breakfast/beer/pancakes/beer/beer before coming back I'll pm you my number in case you want to join and are running late so we can wait for you.
  10. Went over this bridge a few times the last couple of days, it's a nice flat base ride. Took a mate here and he almost wet himself, the bridge drops at least 50 meters to the Pienaars river below Train bridge over the Pienaars river, between Roodeplaat dam and Zambezi road.
  11. We're doing a MTB ride on Sunday morning from the Magalieskruin centre in Braam Pretorius to the train tracks, then to the North of Roodeplaat, then onto some gravel all the way to Cullinan. After pancakes/beer/hamburgers/beer/coke/beer we'll head back. Ride there +- 60km ride back maybe 40. All welcome to join, we leave at six.
  12. We're all ears .... And you can find the route on Strava.com if you search for voriberg.
  13. Mine's fine as well. JCZA, maybe the website cannot compute a category for you to compete in? How long is your ID number
  14. And a small add - everyone that went to the race knew about the funeral, and not a single one (I checked) asked the race office to NOT ride on Sunday due to this. Not one. So, everyone that went to Sabie wanted to race, not fart around in town or lounge in the pool or sit at the BnB watching reruns on Dstv. They already made the choice.
  15. ACM well put. It's a nice way from SASCOC to make people hate them, Mandela and the Sabie X ... if even just a little.
  16. The guy I took a ride with down the mountain yesterday reckoned that they (the organizers) will pass on any and all claims straight to CSA, who will pass it straight up to SACOC. What happens from there will have to be seen. Submit claims if you want, I was very very pissed with the cancellation (even though I would not have been able to ride due to being sick)
  17. Ha, stomach bug my ass. It turns out to be food poisoning, booked of for a week with a ton of meds. Doc reckons I can be glad I'm fit otherwise I would've killed myself yesterday ... ha at least it would've been with a smile. Damn that place is beautifull!
  18. Nice meeting RiverRat, sorry I normally talk your ears off but I was feeling really, errr, shitty. Stomach bug just threw me to the ground, still climbed up past Mamba today, up to the second water point but was getting close to fainting at points so packed it in. Would not have made cutoff in any case. Maybe next year as well ....
  19. Just waiting for my ride - he should be here any minute now. Cannot wait! From blegh on not finding a partner 5 months ago, to planning a nice long base ride for this weekend on Manday, to getting two free solo entries on Tuesday! Epic. (Yes I just went there)
  20. My balls just shrunk thinking about a wet Mamba ....
  21. Email from Sandy at the race office:
  22. ok pasting this doesn't work. Here's the link: http://www.yr.no/place/South_Africa/Mpumalanga/Sabie/long.html Heavy rain today and tomorrow, light rain Saturday, some sun Sunday and rain on Monday. Well ****. Email from Dennis (Route director) a couple of minutes ago: Cool. Bring mud tyres and mudguards!!! Looks like we may get some sun tomorrow. Kind regards Dennis Lawrie Forest Ventures
  23. Actually, you can't hear it over the sounds of the Landy breaking. There's no way anyone can push a Land Rover fast enough to create wind, never mind dust. *You know there's no such thing as a Land Rover joke, it's all true
