  1. Not giving you (that much) stick, but rather ride on the pavement then. There you are allowed to contra-flow, in the road you are just being a danger to everyone else.
  2. Justin Bonello's new book? Hy kan nogals braai vir 'n soutie
  3. Anyone get their mail yet?
  4. Shouldn't that have been 'natste aanbod" then?
  5. When you lie about your ... err ... LOL.
  6. There was actually two ladies writing down numbers and times as well as the hand held scanner as well as the overhead scanners ... they will have your time somewhere, probably a finger fault when transcribing (or some such) Agree fully with Beet, they set the standard
  7. I'd also like to see a distance/difficulty split, ie ride 2km further or ride up the side of Table Mountain. Funny that no-one commented on the tour of the school at the end yet I must say I would have loved to have legs left by then, woul'd blasted it lol.
  8. Great day out! Loved the route, the climbs and descents were all ridden (at least in my batch) and that made it even better. Loved the series, will do it again next year! (Maybe add the MTN series as well)
  9. I got a USN/Trailseeker water bottle, a Can-Do Buff as well as another of those handy cellphone pouches my wife keeps on nicking. And a Vooma Gel.
  10. Think I'm gonna have to switch to the MTN then LOVED Van G's this year, that was a propper race.

  12. Neither is there a Trailseeker Van Gaalens :?
  13. Jip, agreed 99% of my close calls have been because drivers are not paying attention or don't signal. I've developed my own 'Wily-spider-sense' on the road ... I commute a lot New thing learned today: it is damn near impossible to try and do a 'planned workout' whilst commuting. I'm trying a new race week taper (every little bit helps) and today was low intensity intervals (30 minutes zone 2, 6 minutes zone 4, 5 minutes zone 2 etc) and it's jut not possible to regulate your heartbeat whilst dodging cars and stopping at traffic lights.
  14. Take the lane (ie ride so that cars cannot pass you) or do as you did and use a car as cover. I do a combination of both, but yeah big traffic circles are a nightmare.
  15. C Batch in the half again. Also hoping to get the shirt, this will be #5 for me as well. I enjoyed the series tremendously!
  16. Didn't think that one through properly lawl but as lapa says (btw, do you have a Snor, lapa?) number pickup is from tomorrow so seeding should have been done (unless they're working their butts off tonight - when does entries close?)
  17. Or seeding mails?
  18. Jiffifus rode the 650b and 29" Vipa's ..... I need a bigger piggy bank, that bike handles like a dreeeeem. Nice showing, was much larger than the other guys made it sound (spent three hours walking the stalls, albeit with wife and kids in tow) and the vibe was lekker. Really awesome to be able to ride the bikes around as well. Missed out on riding that fatbike.

    MTB RACE TIMING

Only thing that's missing is race weights before the races. That way you can plan which races to use as training and which ones to use to improve your seeding.
  20. My opinion - if you're not a designer, pay the (few) randelas to someone who is. It just works better.
  21. The lady has some nice tats ... and ink.
  22. Reply from Crezane Bosch - I edite some unrelated (to this issue) out.
  23. That's waht you get for bugging your boss for a new laptop - he gave me a 17" behemoth that cost R30K, now I can't leave it at works as it's "a risk" ... Maybe I should show him the posts on cyclists being attacked in Pta East ...
  24. I still carry my undies and shirt every day, but I have a set at work that stays there for emergencies. Also toiletries etc stays at th office, was the best thing I did. But now my boss is being, erm, slightly more difficult, and I need to start toting my laptop to and fro every day. Carrying laptop, charger and the other usual kit is a schlep - I've actually weighed my bag, it's 12kg when loaded like that. Oh well, better training, right
  25. I did that once, in Garsfontein road (near Dely) - I cycle there almost every day, and see this particular (white madam in fancy BMW if you need to know) very often. She now gives right of way, smiles and waves even. She drove with a broken mirror for a week before fixing it. Sometimes, just sometimes, there's a glimmer of hope.
