  3. Neither is there a Trailseeker Van Gaalens :?
  4. Jip, agreed 99% of my close calls have been because drivers are not paying attention or don't signal. I've developed my own 'Wily-spider-sense' on the road ... I commute a lot New thing learned today: it is damn near impossible to try and do a 'planned workout' whilst commuting. I'm trying a new race week taper (every little bit helps) and today was low intensity intervals (30 minutes zone 2, 6 minutes zone 4, 5 minutes zone 2 etc) and it's jut not possible to regulate your heartbeat whilst dodging cars and stopping at traffic lights.
  5. Take the lane (ie ride so that cars cannot pass you) or do as you did and use a car as cover. I do a combination of both, but yeah big traffic circles are a nightmare.
  6. C Batch in the half again. Also hoping to get the shirt, this will be #5 for me as well. I enjoyed the series tremendously!
  7. Didn't think that one through properly lawl but as lapa says (btw, do you have a Snor, lapa?) number pickup is from tomorrow so seeding should have been done (unless they're working their butts off tonight - when does entries close?)
  8. Or seeding mails?
  9. Jiffifus rode the 650b and 29" Vipa's ..... I need a bigger piggy bank, that bike handles like a dreeeeem. Nice showing, was much larger than the other guys made it sound (spent three hours walking the stalls, albeit with wife and kids in tow) and the vibe was lekker. Really awesome to be able to ride the bikes around as well. Missed out on riding that fatbike.

    MTB RACE TIMING

Only thing that's missing is race weights before the races. That way you can plan which races to use as training and which ones to use to improve your seeding.
  11. My opinion - if you're not a designer, pay the (few) randelas to someone who is. It just works better.
  12. The lady has some nice tats ... and ink.
  13. Reply from Crezane Bosch - I edite some unrelated (to this issue) out.
  14. That's waht you get for bugging your boss for a new laptop - he gave me a 17" behemoth that cost R30K, now I can't leave it at works as it's "a risk" ... Maybe I should show him the posts on cyclists being attacked in Pta East ...
  15. I still carry my undies and shirt every day, but I have a set at work that stays there for emergencies. Also toiletries etc stays at th office, was the best thing I did. But now my boss is being, erm, slightly more difficult, and I need to start toting my laptop to and fro every day. Carrying laptop, charger and the other usual kit is a schlep - I've actually weighed my bag, it's 12kg when loaded like that. Oh well, better training, right
  16. I did that once, in Garsfontein road (near Dely) - I cycle there almost every day, and see this particular (white madam in fancy BMW if you need to know) very often. She now gives right of way, smiles and waves even. She drove with a broken mirror for a week before fixing it. Sometimes, just sometimes, there's a glimmer of hope.
  17. As I understand, mostly drug related and domestic violence (read squatters gets drunk and moers his wife) as well as some attempts at 'farm attacks' - but the guys are super alert. They notice cut and lifted wires very quickly, which sorts out 99% of the issue (attackers lift/cut wires a day to three days in advance to ensure quick entry/getaway on the night they plan the attack) Nothing sorts out a shithead like being caught in a 'noose' as he crawls through a hole he made They're not talking out right now which normally means they have some stuff stirring - but if ever there is REAL trouble in town this is where I'll be headed. Bashewa.
  18. OK the Bashewa guys don't roam that close to the city. Great pity, they know what they're doing and would've love to sort that **** out. Apparently it's quite crazy out by them at the moment as well ...
  19. Does anyone know if the 'informal' plotwag out Bashewa way would be interested in, erm, some light duties in the area? Actually, lemme chat to one of them quickly and give feedback. They're good at sorting rubbish out.
  20. For a quick run around my garage
  21. Na watse kerk gaan die joernalis? Ek se maar net ...
  22. Bianchi remember that there's TWO squatter camps in the area - Plastic view and the one by the cemetery ... somehow I think the cemetery one is involved in this ... I used to cycle with a handgun, but stopped that (for various reasons, one being maintenance, another being comfort and also it's not necessarily the best option - slow to draw, awkward to handle if you're really out of breath etc etc etc) but still carry my knife ... I just don't know. These guys just shot at two cyclists, seemingly without provocation, and without asking them to give it up first ... that's what's getting to me mentally. If you see it coming, or you're in a situation where you actually have options, it's one thing, but this? Farked.
  23. Problem 1 solved ... As far as problem 2, farked if I know. I'm actually re-evaluating my bike commuting with all these damn attacks in Pretoria at the moment ...
  24. The only way that bike jacking is going to slow down is if some bike jackers gets shot to hell and gone. Then, in a few weeks, months, years, they will just escalate.
