  1. No such thing as un-emotional watts!
  2. You physio's have a mean streak! I was hurting!
  3. It's safe to say he was doing a higher w/kg than I was
  4. That takes the weight difference into account. My actual watts were about 10% higher than his to compensate for my extra 15kg, but his w/kg is higher than mine 'cos he is more than 10% ligher than me.
  5. Andrew and I had almost the same IF, but he produced about 0.4w/kg more than me! So, the TTT was well balanced from an effort perspective, but he is able to do more than me.

  10. with longer cranks you get more torque, not more power. power is torque x rpm, so with longer cranks you get more torque but less rpm, ending up with the same power.
  11. 305 does not do maps, so no routing, mapping functions. Also, 705 has much bigger memory, and supports Ant+ powermeters.
  12. This is not a hub problem. Water getting into the hub cannot cause the CPU to reset itself and lose data. This is a wiring harness problem. Water is causing an electrical short in the wiring. The short causes the voltage in the cpu to drop suddenly and data to be lost. Either water is shorting out the pins between the cpu and the mount, or the insulation has been compromised somewhere and water is causing 2 exposed wires that aren't physically touching to short electrically. I have seen the problem discussed and the solution was to put a blob of vaseline on the contacts on the mount, then slide the cpu on. The vaseline keeps the water away from the pins but does not stop the electrical connection between the cpu and the mount.
  13. lancearmstrongwatch 3:45 into this. http://tinyurl.com/csv2jy Bos doesn't even get disqualified. pitiful. he deserves a long suspension.
  14. Sure, I have loan units available. Send me a note at "bruce dot diesel AT gmail dot com" if you would be interested in testing yourself. Wireless powertap is just a change of wheel on the bike and you are good to go.
  15. That is correct. 60min TT will give you your Functional Threshold Power (FTP) which correlates well with power at Lactate Threshold. The other durations tell you how much power your other energy systems in your body produce: 5min power correlates with pVO2Max 1min power indicates anaerobic capacity 5sec power indicates neuro-muscular power These are the real world numbers on the bike - not something done in a lab etc. This provides you with your true capabilities on a bike, and provides information as to what your strengths and weaknesses are, what your potential as a cyclist is, and what type of events will suit you best. All you need to do is ride these durations as hard as possible. No rocket science, just real world information. You may need to practice them a few times to learn how to pace the efforts, particularly 5min and 20min.
  16. Get hold of a power meter and do your best efforts for 5sec, 1min, 5min and 60min (20min if you aren't confident in pacing a 60min TT). That will tell you all you need to know about your performance on a bike.
