  1. I don't think it's an upgrade from a mokka pot at all - rather buy a decent grinder to use with a mokka pot - I think you will have better success with fresh coffee, decent grinder and a mokka pot. Money spent on a better grinder is never wasted....
  2. Well - yes - best left to a pro if you ask me - but milling does not make them flat enough - and accuracy is dependant on the machine they use for it - the best way still seems to be hand scraping it for the final finish with the use of a proper surface plate - while it's a messy job there wasn't much aeration of dust at all - most of it seemed to stick into the wax used to show where you have scraped/need to scrape - using gloves helped keep hands clean but really reduces the feel of the tool (and you need this in a big way) in your hand.
  3. I once scraped a lathe bed to get it flat again..... now THAT is an exercise in patience..... 6 weeks of an hour or two an evening with a loaner flat block.... NEVER again..... but I suspect this might be easier than sanding it flat. Lesson learned - never bet your engineer brother that you can do it easily..... I did at the time wonder why he was quite happy to organise the flat surface loaner - which arrived on a forklift.... with a chain hoist and overhead lift to move the bed around....
  4. I have just sprayed with solvent based woodstain and wiped with a rag with thinners on in the past till I get the colour/grain I want - has worked well for me - but I am going to try this mixture next time I need a greyish finish - might be easier than my method.
  5. Is she being fed formula or expressed breast milk? Hopefully she will soon be able to be fed normally. while a 40g gain does not seem like much its still 3.3% of her bodyweight in a week - at least she is gaining and not losing weight - so it's a huge positive - as is the slight focus change of her doctor in their primary concern (I may be misreading this a bit, but sounds positive to me)
  6. Like you are not one of the fabricators.......
  7. I have not used it specifically - BUT - I do use a Mokka pot from time to time - the one good thing about Bialetti is you can get spares for them in SA - luckily for me... because their seals fit my Italian off-brand one. They work real well, but don't expect espresso, it's a touch different - you won't regret having a mokka pot - ever.
  8. Is this a rhetorical question or do you want a speculative answer?
  9. I have a 2 group Linea at work - no idea on a company that rents them out - give me a ring
  10. I know the old importer vaguely - I have his details under his name in my phone which I can't remember...- Ascaso have a huge web site with all their spares in spain (and for many other brands as well) - they are easy to deal with online http://www.ascaso.com/div-spare-parts-machinery-hospitality/home.html There is another crowd - Liquid international that now have the agency I think - but Ascaso is not their main brand. From memory that machine uses a thermoblock as a boiler - (you can check this) if it does then you will struggle to change that - if it uses their small 200ml odd boiler then you can change the thermostat to a PID and that works a lot better.
  11. The rule is that they may not exceed more than half the wheelbase of the car behind the centerline of the rear wheel.... - so it kind of depends..... This does mean that I am sure if you were driving a VW transporter LWB it would be legal, and if you were driving a Corsa it would not be.... Edit - and lights and plates are mandatory
  12. Just ask 101SCC..... or Iteachcoffee.... - 2 of CT's great coffee minds..... they will know who can help you if they don't themselves. FWIW - we run a single 2 group espresso machine for 32 people - the machine is not under pressure at all - 101SCC helped with the acquisition.
  13. Mr Mins bum does not touch the wheel.... only his nuts... too big...
  14. ouch - best wishes to your dad for a speedy recovery.
  15. I think it's time for Jules to attend Peaches beginners skills class... twice...
  16. Normal - you can still knock through the lockout with enough pressure
  17. Once you go past about 2 or 3 minutes, the influence of training starts to have a greater effect - but - without genetics you cannot run 3min/km.... for 1, 2, 5, 10, 21 or 42km.... with the right genetics you can run 3min/km - without serious training for 1km, with minor training for 2 - 5, and longer with more training... Genetics plays a far bigger role in sports than most people want to admit to...
  18. Genetics.... you either have them or you don't....
  19. How big are they? I want some portafilter and steam valve bits, and a tamper handle...
  20. Probably be easier to build to just swing to the side - saves having to worry about where the balance point is - 4 or six bikes on a badly balanced rack could give you a solid knock on the pip...
  21. Problem is more the receiver for the towbar is not common in SA - not sure that a friction mount on a ball will take those loads - but ping ampandy if you want one built... Andy knows his amps....
  22. See David's post above - chat to him
  23. 720 on my 26" SS 680 on my 29" SS
