  1. Todays update: Karmi - basically no news and still no diagnosis - waiting on results of liver biopsy and other testing is ongoing - she is still hanging in there. Remember to keep doing what you need to do to support her and her family, as well as her medical team - and to be grateful for your own families wellbeing. 2Bliss - her pancreatitis is improving following the withdrawal of her long term meds after 2 days - she has been admitted to ICU to help manage the side effects of the withdrawal, and to try to establish effective levels of the replacement medication.
  2. Just eat.... There is a limit to fluid emptying rates and carbohydrate uptake rates - just go for an intake of about 1g carbohydrate per kg per hour - if you take much more than that you are risking an upset stomach - and that doesn't end well.... You will also need to decide on if you plan to drink all the carbs, or follow a mixed eating and drinking strategy, and experiment with the exact products you are thinking to use to make sure they don't cause sh..t with your stomach - there is no substitute for testing of this in real world conditions. Properly fueled, you will be able to run harder after around 2 hours than if you are poorly fueled. (and this includes hydration)
  3. Use a heart rate monitor belt..... and run like f....
  4. Todays update: No change from yesterday - beyond surviving the bronchoscopy - she will be evaluated for liver function today, possibly including a biopsy. There is still no confirmed diagnosis, but efforts are ongoing. This kid is a fighter - don't forget to do what you need to do to support her and her parents! Do it twice.
  5. Slowbee is is in charge of the parents drive - There is a separate thread for that. I have no contact with the parents or inside info that does not come from 2bliss.
  6. Update: From Karmi's parents: Karmi' s bronchoscopy has been completed. One doc per lung. They had to stop frequently due to desaturation. The more mucous and dead material they got out, the better it went. She is stable, but obviously still on the ventilator. My contraction of the more detailed medical stuff: There will be further testing done when she is more recovered post this procedure. On 2bliss conditoon - She has developed pancreatitis from a chronic medication she has been taking for years. She is being stabilised on new medication which is hoped to be as effective eventually. She DOES NOT want this thread to be about her, so I won't expand on that - she knows you are all supportive and she is grateful for that, but keep the focus on Karmi.
  7. In Potchefstroom - but I don't know which facility.
  8. Hi all - 2bliss asked me to give a status update on Karmi. First - there has been little positive progress and Karmi is struggling. Second - Little Karmi will be going through the bronchoscopy procedure again tomorrow. This time two paediatric pulmonologists will attempt to pull it off. They are continuing to treat and test Karmi for all possible conditions and genetic problems but this is complicated by her current health status. Third - 2bliss herself is not well and is currently hosptalised but is hanging in there but not in a position to respond to all the posts - I will try to keep you all updated as and when I can. In the meantime please continue to keep Karmi and her family and friends in your thoughts- as well as 2bliss.
  9. Hang in there!! it will dull after a while - allow yourself some time and headspace.
  10. Better add 2bliss to your list too - if you dont mind. Trust me on this.

  17. You can - but you are extremely unlikely to catch it unless you are in some way immuno compromised... as a prem newborn is.
  18. The should test the whole family and domestic workers for TB/HIV - just a precaution - and staff at her school too.
  19. Roll back a few pages... quite a few...
  20. They are big.... not as big as my Glycine, at 55mm - but still big - and I have dinky toy wrists...
  21. They are very nice in the flesh - the one auctioned in my post above is mine - overpaid for it a bit, but iom....
  22. I think I would look at an Elliott Brown - they are pretty unique in SA - and they are super solid and not madly priced either. - They also support one of my mates charities - The Buffaloe foundation - which is a big supporter of the Kwano cycling academy in SA. https://buffalo.foundation/product/buffalo-foundation-sbs-watch-12/ https://www.elliotbrownwatches.com/
  23. Depends who does the maintenance... my domestic engineer just wipes wooden outside stuff down with a soaked cloth once a month.... this I regard as regular cleaning and not maintenance - and can be done over woodoc 30 as well - keeps it in good shape for much longer than 2 years...
  24. 30% linseed oil mixed with 70% turps - wipe it one with a cloth - do it regularly - once a month or so.
  25. At VAST cost..... Track day over the weekend.... nearly 500k....
