  1. I agree with the above sentiments, but there is something to be said about the fine print in this deal. If Neil wants to get technical, do so in reverse. If the deal was R7500 by 31 August 2013, then technically your mate has 5:15 hours to pay back the R7.5k. Admittedly, your mate should have not left it down to the wire like this.
  2. No problem. From what I read in the link, it seems that your older Cannondale has different tabs compared to newer bikes. People suggested that spacing out the brakes will work just fine. Especially if you dont have the cash lying around to purchase a new bike.
  3. http://forums.mtbr.com/cannondale/trouble-adding-disc-brakes-f700-163273.html Maybe that'll help?
  4. What a lovely set of wheels. They will no doubt wow you. Mine certainly did. Excellent purchase.
  5. Also worth having a look at the second hand market I think. For example: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/59187-2011-giant-xtc-29-1-large/
  6. Yup, it certainly does. Way too much stuff in there at the moment.
  7. Indeed it was relaxing. I didn't replace the bearings because I dont have new ones and also wanna do a bit more research first. Will probably tackle that when I service my shock and fork. Also want to replace the bearing in the bb (as opposed to repacking it with grease) with a sealed bearing ala the top tech q'n'a sticky.
  8. New additions: - IceTech XT Rotors: 180mm front/160mm rear - SLX Chain and 11-36 cassette - XT M786 Shadow+ RD - XT 10sp Shifters Completed:
  9. Unfortunately I wasn't drinking beer, but I was able to do something quite epic: - Completely stripped rear triangle and serviced my entire bike expect headset/fork - Upgraded to 10sp Shadow+ derailleur and XT shifters and SLX chain and cassette - Learnt a helluva lot about how my bike works
  10. Where are you and what wheel size do you ride?
  11. Steve Smith, what a run. Insane!
  12. Great run by Andrew Neethling it would seem. Still in the hot seat. 4:02
  13. He specifically states he has a Scott Scale Expert, which is a hardtail. I dont know where the Scott Spark came into this. Hence I quoted the weight of the hardtail. What I'm saying is that he's saying all of those frames are >2kg, where they're quoted to be more like 1.1kg.
  14. What exactly is in/on the frame when you weight them? Cause 2.3 kg for a high-end frame that quotes 1100g would cause a big uproar. So I'll question your weights.
  15. Orbea Alma frame weight: 1200g Niner EMD frame weight: 1600g Scott Scale Expert frame weight: 1150g I think Tankman makes a valid point. Buying a more expensive frame and upgrading parts is much more comparable. Buying a cheap, heavy bike and upgrading components is still going to limit you due to the heavy frame. Buying a more expensive, lighter frame when you can afford it is the much better way to go IMHO.
  16. Haha, Mayhem I think we're making the same point here. He is clearly the much better rider, and I'm just saying how that's the kind of thing that makes a crowd go damn, that oke is bloody good. Not bashing the okes style or choice at all, in fact I encourage it (not that I know anything about 4X), just saying that what he did amounts to getting dunked on in basketball, getting handed off/bounced in rugby, klapped for six in cricket etc.
  17. QR or Thru-axle? I'm sure your local LBS will be able to sort it out. I'm guessing you cant find the end of your quick release? Is this what you're talking about?
  18. This is the cycling equivalent of getting dunked on. Disrespectful.
  19. I have a pair of Lake's in black that I got from sportsbasement.co.za for a really low price. Carbon sole, BOA lacing system and good looking (IMHO) means it's a really good alternative. And probably half the price of SIDI shoes. EDIT: Pedals are really dealers choice. I have Look Keo's and I love them. Wouldn't mind Speedplay's though
  20. Am I the only one who thinks that 3x10 is still a viable option? Honestly this market driven movement to ward fewer chain rings up front is a little unnecessary. 3x10 is extremely versatile with only a slight weight penalty.
