  1. For that money, why don't you have a look at some classifieds on the hub. You could score a much better for the same price point.
  2. They actually are pretty good. I'm with you on the not wanting one, but you can't just bash a brand's quality because you simply don't like them. Merida make good quality bikes, probably as good as Trek to be honest.
  3. Sorry. Brain is a little fried at the moment. Re read the post and it is clear as day.
  4. Which Avids? Elixer, Juicy? I had a set of Juicy 5's that worked well, but needed a lot of TLC. Upgraded my brakes to XT, and it has been a fit and forget experience so far (+3000km). Really enjoy the lever feel and power they produce with one finger. That being said, Avid makes great brakes, and have a lot of bad press, largely due to reliability. And I think that a lot of that has been eliminated with time, but the reputation lingers
  5. No, it is usually viral, not bacterial (like Streptococcus).
  6. Sore throat is usually viral in origin. And last time I checked, Streptococcus required antibiotics not salt.
  7. Just be aware, moderate alcohol intake has been associated with cancer - oral, throat, breast to name a few.
  8. Is it the same as the YouTube miniseries run by RedBull?
  9. So much bad science littered in that post. Unfortunately, it is in and amongst some reasonable advice, but there are far too many contradictions in that article to sit well with me.
  10. Both excellent wheelsets, but for me it would be the Fulcrum's. I have the sister Campagnolo's and they're fantastic. The G3 pattern is both good to look at and great under pedal load. Fulcrum's are 100g heavier than the Mavic's though. Price difference between the two? http://www.fulcrumwheels.com/en/collection/road/alu/products/racing-zero http://www.mavic.com/en/product/wheels/road-triathlon/wheels/Ksyrium-SLS

I guess you didn't find that fall very humerus. (Sorry). Glad you're able to give it a second go, have a stormer next year. Hopefully I'll get my act together (and a decent seeding) and match my talk of a sub 3.
  12. Why do you say so? I haven't been, and I'm interested why you can't leave it on?
  13. Nice one Bobbo, The XT version is awesome. I'm really enjoying mine. The reduced noise and chainslap, plus confidence that you're still on the same chainring after a rough bit of track is worth the extra moolah. Just remember to disengage the clutch before removing the wheel.
  14. Gummi, what chainrings do you have on the front? That big blade looks geared for massive speed.
  15. And you will always know the truth, so who cares what people think. Get the Pinarello.
  16. Yes it is. It is still a fantastic frame. Yes, it has been superseded by the FP Due, but that hady takes away from the FP2's capability. If you have a need to for absolute latest and greatest, and the FP Due is constantly gonna be in your mnd, then by all means get the TCR. In my opinion, the FP2 is a better frame than the TCR, and if you go for it, you shall not regret it. Spending money on a Pinarello is one of the most rewarding things, cause they always return the favour. (Yes, I'm a fanboy)
  17. I doubt it, especially considering his LBS is gonna give him a complete bike at the end of the day. There shouldn't be any compatibility issues. The only thing is the BB, which is Italian thread, and still not a problem, as you just get an Italian thread BB for the crank. And a much better frame in my opinion. And better looking too. 18. Pinarello. Top quality bike that is a boutique brand. For the same price as a Giant? Take it and run.
  19. SLX Shadow + : http://www.easybike.co.za/shimano-slx-rear-derailleur-rd-m675-sgs.html R650 special, or R720 from CWC XT Shadow + : http://www.easybike.co.za/shimano-xt-rear-derailleur-rd-m786-gs-shadow-silver.html R850, or R990 from CWC
  20. That agent is definitely talking ***. You just need the correct spacer and the brakes will go over the rotor. Personally, I would go with the XT Shadow+ derailleur. It is such a nice upgrade. Constant chain tension, no chain slap and prevents chain drop. Also useful if you're considering a 1x10 conversion at some point. You will hardly notice the difference between SLX and XT shifters.
  21. Yoh, Madlight. That is a sweet bike. Hope it rides as good as it looks.
  22. The problem is not in the derailleur. The problem is likely chainring and chain in origin, with a variety of reasons (work teeth, bent teeth, and subsequent mismatch of chain links to teeth and "suck" of the chain. Useful link: http://fagan.co.za/Bikes/Csuck/ Although a Shadow Plus upgrade is a nice one anyway. Properly good derailleur, and eliminates chain slap and drop.
  23. What if I told you, a suspension fork doesn't make you a champion? If Nino had been riding a Lefty, would you change your tune?
  24. An essential part of the bike buying process...
  25. Quality wheels those. Hope your new bike is as awesome as it sounds like. What is the RRP on a set of MadFibers if you dont mind me asking?
