  1. Now it is quite clear to me you are trolling. I put forward a clear situation where your plan is quite clearly unsafe, and is far more likely to occur than your radical drunk driver and you don't even answer my question, claiming I must answer yours first like a 5 year old. You're moving too fast to be in the opposite stream of traffic, you're not half as agile as a pedestrian doing the same, and you put yourself, your family and other law-abiding cyclists at risk. So, please stop skirting the issue and using incredibly unlikely events as the basis of you breaking the law and stop challenging the status quo, which was obviously thought about much more than you care to.
  2. Take your strange example and go one step further: you're on the wrong side of the road, and a driver, who is not drunk, or negligent in any way, merges into the road you're travelling on. But, the intersection is a blind one, and they are unable to see you and pull out in front of you, allowing you to effectively T-bone them. Please explain how you're going to react then.
  3. I don't see where you actually made a point/case for riding on the right hand side. And personally, if someone was to knock me over because they don't "agree" with the law (despite all those twisted statements you brought up - you can find a negative/poor example of anything if you look for it - it is still the law, and obviously hasn't been changed for a reason), they'd be completely in the wrong. It is simply not safe, and it is definitely not legal. Ride on the right (left) side of the road.
  4. It's unsafe and its illegal, I don't get the argument here.
  5. Drop the lady a line, she just asked me to spread the word (and the telephone may have broken), I'm sure 1 year is not going to confound things. But let her decide!
  6. Hi Hubbers, I took part in a study earlier this year regarding the use of certain exercises/tests that accurately reflect your VO2Max. The study is being conducted at Sports Science in Newlands, and you get a free VO2Max test (done properly) and a flexibility test. They are looking for: 41-50 year olds who do little activity 51-60 year olds at any fitness level The study is being run by Linet Huchu, who is contactable at HCHLIN001@myuct.ac.za. Or alternatively: linet.huchu@uct.ac.za
  7. Give this site the once over, you may be able to save a bit on some of the components you're thinking of ordering. http://www.easybike.co.za/components/disk-brakes.html
  8. It's obviously a bit late now, but I bought my SLX cassette (HG-81) from Easybike for R499 http://www.easybike....hg81-11-36.html
  9. Thanks man. I'd love to claim, but really my phone did all the work. I just pushed a button. Managed to hit my first "gap jump" (that little jump just after mamba's entrance) on this ride as well, although not on purpose. Really good, fun trails.
  10. A nice barrel along the snake trails, which are awesome! First time riding Cobra (ashamedly), and it was much harder than I expected. Good challenge!
  11. Quick question, is the trail allowed to be ridden? I was in Tokai today (Cobra and Mamba are awesome btw) and I stopped short of Boomslang. Wasn't sure of the status of the trail, although there were no barriers to the entry, I didn't want to be THAT guy who sets things back.
  12. I have had mine for 2500km now, clutch on constantly. No problems. I dont see a reason to turn it off. The difference in shifting in so negligible IMHO, that it is better to keep it on constantly. Prevents chainslap, chaindrop and makes the bike much quieter
  13. I know this one. The bosses movie isn't it? Terrible bosses? Horrible bosses?
  14. I stand corrected. Didn't look at the map properly. What Flowta said.
  15. The short answer is: No dogs allowed in Tokai plantation. Period.
  16. There's a YouTube video on a car being PlastiDip'd and then cleaned with a pressure washer, and it holds up just fine. The chap suggests (note: I have never used the stuff), that once its had a bit of time to settle, it is reasonably hard wearing. Link:
  17. You can peel PlastiDip off, so maybe it wont?
  18. Try find a group that is a decent pace for you, and know when they're going too fast for you, cause you'll pay for it later. Avoid the temptation to go too hard and too fast at the beginning, cause it will catch up with you at >85km. Drink before you're thirsty, eat before you're hungry, and have a blast. Know the route, and plan which hills your going to attack, and which your going to suffer on and ride ahead of your group if you're a bad climber so that you can slowly filter to the back by the top. A century event is a lot of fun, and is not insurmountable. Take it steady and you'll be absolutely fine.
  19. I dont think that the chain is too long, but have you checked out the lower limit on the derailleur itself? Maybe giving that a bit of an adjustment might solve the problem. I remember when I setup my RD, I set the low and high limit, fine tuned and then had to do a fine adjustment on the low limit screw to get everything perfect.
  20. They do work. They work very well. They have side effects, just like all drugs. But I personally think that the side effects are outweighed by the benefits and prevention of serious complications.
  21. Pharmacies also make money by selling antibiotics, antihypertensives, antifailure and asthma medication, to mention but a few. Should we stop taking those as well, supplied by the evil drugs companies. There is really no consipracy, there is good evidence to support the use of statins, as there is good evidence to support the use of the aforementioned drugs. Why wouldn't you take them (except side-effects) is the better question.
  22. A real high quality study. This is actually a pooled collected of studies. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD004816.pub5/abstract
  23. You learn something every day. Thanks!
  24. Not sure that front brakes are much use detached like that! Brake troubles?
  25. You're thinking of the Ultra-Torque cranks, which are very similar to Shimano's Hollowtech II design. External cups and a thru-axle connecting the crank arms
