  2. Boet, I ride a 2009 Trek Top Fuel. Good bike, I really enjoy it. Paid R9k back in 2012. I would advise you to go FS, as I personally think that it a better ride all in all, especially if you enjoy singletrack. Looking at a bike from that era, just consider the wear and tear on the components, especially the suspension. Maybe have it checked out before you buy the bike, or at least know that you might have to fork out some cash in the future for a repair/upgrade. As has been said before, a decent FS 26er (which is actually still a great bike to ride, despite not being the "future" and all) should be in the region of R10k.
  3. I think he saw that he could get more cash for it. The response was quite good I would assume. Pretty poor if that is the case.
  4. Awesome bike, and a quality finished product. Can't say I like the paintjob though, but that's a personal thing. I wonder if UCT would be so accommodating?

    Cricket......

Great to see a school acquaintance, Dane Piedt, making it into the Proteas Test Squad.
  6. That Triumph Daytona 675R is a work of art... Gorgeous engine note as well.
  7. Oh wow. Another wheel size debate. Surely this is just more trolling. Ride what you like.
  8. My pleasure. Glad you came right.
  9. True, but their societies are very different to ours, but without the appropriate data, I couldn't say that SA drivers dont give a stuff either way, but I would have a guess that I'm right about that. Besides that, because helmets reduce morbidity and mortality associated with an accident, I agree that one should wear one all the time.
  10. This guy is a leading neurosurgeon in Britain. I dont know how he can say things like this. Surely he has seen the results of blunt head trauma in front of him on the operating table.
  11. Mine was first
  12. Rubbish. A much as helmets may be flimsy in his eyes, they certainly have a place in cycling and have been showed to reduce risk of serious head injury during cycling. Each to their own, but personally, I think I'll wear mine. Seen a craniotomy and evacuation of a haematoma, and I never want to be on that table if I can help it.
  13. I agree. Mods?
  14. Watch these videos, and try what they suggest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJB1L6gj4nI Essentially, its a matter of getting reasonable tension in the FD cable, setting the upper and lower limit screws and then fine tuning the shifting with the barrel adjuster. At least that's how I remember it. The videos explain how to do it quite well. Should take about 10-15 mins to do, including swearing.
  15. Yeah, thats the thing. I dont see how a person gets it into their head to do all of the above. Some of that riding is simply unbelievable. Oh, and no doubt its an insane move. Hell, insane might be doing him in a bit
  16. That was the most insane part of the film for me. I can;t help but wonder how many times he had to try some of these things. And how much he must have practised.
  17. Awesome looking bike. Handlebar has a strange shape to it, but maybe its just the photo angle. Really really nice
  18. There doesn't seem to be enough evidence currently to ratify the use of HBOT to improve fracture healing. That being said, if it is available to you, and it does seem as if there are significant risks, maybe you should give it a go.
  19. Peach, upper limb fractures take 8 weeks to heal. What is your concern regarding leaving in 10 weeks? Strength, pain? Your bone should be fully healed and back to full strength within 8 weeks. The fracture itself should have set by 4 weeks, with the last 4 for remineralisation.
  20. Danny MacAskill's new riding video: http://epecuen.redbull.com/ Way too much skill in one guys body. Great riding video! This post has been promoted to an article
  21. Yo, iRide, picked up a small error. When linking to your website (at the bottom of the page, under partners), the URL is not correct: Is: http://tokaimtb.co.za/the-team/www.irideafrica.com Probably need to get rid of the preceding bit before www.irideafrica.com
  22. This is really poor, cause now Hamilton is acting like a spoilt child in the post-qualifying interviews. What do you guys think? Bit of a poor move by Rosberg, or simply a racing error?
  23. I'm really starting to agree with you. I still have a (small) soft spot for him, based on how he was previously behaved, and how ridiculously talented he is, but damn he is really starting to be a complete dummy.
  24. All these remind me why coaches at school used to stamp out celebrations. Score first, celebrate later. In my team, celebrations before you scored meant laps after the game! And that YouTube compilation is just too painful to watch.
