  1. onetime if you find any fixie hubs send them my way i want to build up a few sets of wheels for these fixie enthusiasts here in JHB and i have some awesome rims that i can use!!!!!
  2. ride it hard and make it work for the money you spent!!! carbon will look after you just like you look after it so be careful and he will also be careful
  3. i have a box of old quill stems an old rx100 grouppo and a few other things if any of you are interested give me a pm and we can see what we can do i also have an old pinarello track frame it is huge so perfect for all those giants out there
  4. wheels I see your argument and agree wholeheartedly it has happened with a shop up here in gauteng and i have been involved with this shop for years because it had a nice atmosphere and i even posted on thehub that he was closing down so that i could help him get out of his lease in his old shop but as soon as he got out of his lease he decided to make use of his spare house as a "new" shop i dont think it is fair that they owe people money but at the same time how will you make money unless you sell the stock that you have taken years to build up not being funny but in all honesty most shops dont pay off a supplier when they sell that 50k bike they would rather pay off the little guys and then if they have enough left over they will pay the bigger guys at the end of the month now i dont see why they do that because obviously it doesnt help them get out of debt that way but at the end of the day it is thier choice and we cant do anything about it!!!
  5. Yes no problem just a few adjustments on the limits or a few turns of the barrel adjuster
  6. That strip is very pliable so lever it out with your PLASTIC tire lever!!!! and it should slide over like a normal inner
  7. Hi stephen Thanks very much i will pm you my mail address now now i wont be racing this beast at crater i will however be looking at a possible top ten overall on my normal MTB as that what my sponsors expect BUT i will be doing the 24hour solo on my SS Thanks again!!
  8. so then seeign as you havent posted your legs yet why dont you get some Guts!!!
  9. um me and calculators are not good friends my matric maths mark was less than the amount of teeth on am 11 tooth sprocket!!!
  10. Thanks David and cool thanks Mud dee i will do some experimenting, also do you have a site that can do gear ratio calculations i have never understood how to do it by reading the formulas...
  11. Thanks for the input i tried with a 32 but i spun out quite easily on my ride at groenkloof last weekend the reason for the derailer is so that i can mix and match sprockets according to the terrain
  12. are you being serious badgirl????
  13. So after much procrastination and too much training i ended up having to find something else to do with my spare time!!!! with a little bit of help from a few fellow hubbers and my always growing spares box i decided to build up a single speed HT in walks Summit cyces with a frame that has had some crack pot tighten a BB cup into the frame so that only he knows how to loosen it!!! after a few months of lying around i decide to start this project and so i look in my spares box and find Frame = Marin Palisades Trail (AKA:Mario){Thanks summit} Wheels = Zak 19 rims DT double butted spokes laced onto a shimano rear hub and a scott oem front hub handlebars = Bontrager select flat bar with a 6deg backsweep Stem = Elite Aluminum stem (off my girlfriends raleigh after an upgrade) Saddle post = pazzaz carbon wrapped aluminium 350mm offset unknown saddle = Selle italia Ferrari (because of the red inserts) Bottom Bracket = Shimano Deore square taper Crankset = Shimano Deore Black Chainring = Shimano deore 44tooth (yes i am stupid!!!!) chain = Campy record 9 speed (was too short for anything else) Chain tensioner = Shimano deore rapid rise derailer with cut cage sprocket = shimano 19 tooth sprocket spacers = custom carbon spacer made from very reliable carbon tubes from reputable bike manufacturer Brakes = Hayes 9 with goodridge hoses (thanks oertel!!!) Disk rotors = Shimano 6 bolt steel headset = WTB momentum comp st sealed unit headset spacers = Black Alu* Grips = aerozine red lock on's Tires = Bontrager MUD X* (because i hate cleaning mud off my racing MTB!!!) Fork = Manitou Axel coil with lockout pedals = Shimano PDM 505 Still on thier way all in all i think this bike is the hottest SS out there just because i ride it!!!! * subject to change with an upgrade or colour coding pimp items!!! turtlek2009-08-02 01:11:57
  14. have a jol guys i am taking my SS out in the mine dumps with the mud tires on to go play!!!!
  15. i feel your pain intern!!!!! i suffered enough at the jock with my 23 but that hill was never gonna get me going there with a 23!!!
  16. or he just knows how to ride properly
  17. nope the shimano and sram rear derailers are not interchangeable the one works on a 2:1 ratio and the other a 1:1 ratio giving you half of the gears you need
  18. do you ride with decent quality shorts because often you go spending thousands on saddles and the shorts are still your problem
  19. on cyclingnews there are rider profiles go take a look i do know that evans is 1.75m tall and he weighs 64 before the tour and closer to 60 at the end very similar to me in weight and height hahaha
  20. the tour is not won in the prologue buddy!!! life goes on and dont you think the guys who are coming in the top ten now also deserve thier moment of fame if you think it is so boring GO DO IT BETTER YOURSELF!!!
  21. seen a few sets around good price for what you are getting its basically a set of non dimpled clincher wheels with sram stickers on them nothing special
  22. also check that your sensor was not bumped further away from the magnet making it harder to pick up the magnet
  23. your LBS should have the tools to tighten it and it would normally require a re grease to lube up the bearings and prevent play different pedals require different axle tools and some lbs's might not have one in thier workshop so give them a call first and if they dont know what you are talking about then they dont have one good luck with finding one
  24. Now T - do you think that was a lucky guess or just maybe by some remote chance an educated one? lucky guess yes, educated i think not!!! in my explanation i clearly stated obvious and actual problems i did not flame a pedal manufacturer like you so obviously decided to do now you might not be a bike mechanic but by making vague comments like "do you by any chance ride look pedals" means that yes maybe the squeak on your bike was caused by your looks but in my experience it is not only one brand that squeaks!!! hence why i said you clearly dont work on many bikes by the way an educated guess is saying grab the pedal and pull up and down on the pedal if there is play then the pedal might be the problem but if you change pedals and the noise carries on then it could be a number of different things as i mentioned before so before you nail a brand because you rode your pedals till they squeaked rather offer a solution to the problem like i did and then say that yours also did that!!! cheers owen
