  1. Greg29, I would check that fine print with your broker , Ive actually been in a Meeting with my Broker this morning and all 3 of my bikes (TT,Mtn and Road) are also covered under ALL risk (which includes theft (from home, race, off rack or where ever), Hijack, Accidents in training). However on most insurances (pretty much all except bike specific insurance co's) Accidents in an Official race sitiuation (as the Op said) are NOT covered at all. So if you crash in Training you are fine, but if its on day7 of Epic or any other race you are NOT covered for repairs or replacement
  2. Not that i have heard, Random Urine Sample, end of Epic Day1
  3. 100% davem, Also this being one of the most Famous Drugs in history, being what Ben Johnson got bust for in the 100m in 1988 Olympics. However it does treat Anemia, so if you have a lack of iron and your Doc wants to prescribe the Tabs, Are you as a back of the fielder going to First say, "hang on i may get tested here, lets try something Different" Probably not in the past.. But most of us possibly will now...
  4. Gotta remember everyone who competes in Sani/Epic etc are not always Serious Mountain Bikers... They may be Top Triathletes/Rugby Players/Rowers etc etc etc just doing this for Off Season Fun...
  5. Just spoke to a Mate of Barry, CSA have posted this "named" release without even notifying the athlete himself... He is dumbstruck. Surely the athlete must be notified first???
  6. Stanozolol, commonly sold under the name Winstrol (oral) and Winstrol Depot (intramuscular), is a synthetic anabolic steroid derived from dihydrotestosterone. It was developed by Winthrop Laboratories (Sterling Drug) in 1962, and has been approved by the FDA for human use. Unlike most injectable anabolic steroids, stanozolol is not esterified and is sold as an aqueous suspension, or in oral tablet form. The drug has a high oral bioavailability, due to a C17 a-alkylation which allows the hormone to survive first-pass liver metabolism when ingested. It is because of this that stanozolol is also sold in tablet form. Stanozolol has been used in both animal and human patients for a number of conditions. In humans, it has been demonstrated to be successful in treating anaemia and hereditary angioedema. Veterinarians may prescribe the drug to improve muscle growth, red blood cell production, increase bone density and stimulate the appetite of debilitated or weakened animals.
  7. Think its quite harsh to lable him an "Idiot" off the Bat Falco, as Said somewhere above, this Stanozolol could have come from bioplus or a decongestive nasal spray or anything... Im sure he was not purposely trying to cheat from the back of the field....
  8. As I said above "Must have been Random Testing"
  9. Wow, this is Crazy, I went to school with this Guy, and he is a "Average middle to back of the Field" Rider, Must have been a random test at Epic (cos he def wasnt competing for places).... Also saw him at Sani race last week and he was closer to the back of the field than the middle.... Need to keep an eye on this one...
  10. You did the Double laper in 2008 and 2011 without removing your Chip?
  11. Dipslick, are you only cycling for your weekly 8-10 Hours? How many Aerobic instructors and spinning instructors do you see that are doing 3-4 Classes a day and still overweight. I beleive your body gets used to certain training and stops reacting to them as quickly. Ive run and cycled since i was 13 (22 years ago) and Cycling and running alone dont help me drop kilo's as much as "swimming " for instance. Luckily im now a triathlete so i have to swim. Try a Bit of cross Training, actually try swimming to be specific (even 20mins, 3 x a week), i can gaurentee the pounds will drop off if you keep the same diet. As you said your legs and arms are lean from the cycling, the swimming will work on the torso...
  12. Sorry title should read "Pedro Delgado"
  13. Was cleaning out the garage this weekend and came across an old dusty road bike i bought from a mate back in 1999 on his return from World Track Cycling Champs claiming that he was given this Bike by Pedro Delgado. (somehow doubt this was true) Thought nothing of it at the time and did many happy Km's on this Bike. Googled the bike this morning and came up with this Link, This is the exact Bike, saddle, shimano 600, specs , paintjob of the bike sitting dusty in my garage, even with the "pedro delgado" sprayed on the cross bar. Any Re-Builders or vintage bike enthusiasts think this is worth any money now and more importantly think i could find a New Home where it will be more appreciated than gathering dust in my Garage. The only changes are I put on campagnola mirage deep section rims (but sure ive still got the original mavics somewhere) and i added a longer stem as the bike was a little too big for me. http://www.foromtb.com/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=19665 added a jpeg for now but can take actual Pics of the bike in my garage if anybody is intersetd. Any thoughts on this bike? or is it just an old replica bike endorsed by PdG...

  17. Agreed, dont for 1 second think its gonna be easy, the wind does blow, the cycle is super tough, and Bunkers hill will bite you twice on the run. I think anyone who has done 70.3 or especially Ironman SA will agree Paul Kaye is not just "some guy". in PE he sits and shouts, screeams, motivates and cheers every single althlete non stop for 17 hours until the very last athlete has finished in wind rain hail. Yes maybe having your name called is a little "ego trip" but he definately does add to the Vibe of the day. And at the end of your "first" Half ironman event maybe a ego bosst is what some first timers are wanting. Again just my 2c worth, also with wetsuits the water is not That cold. Once you have 1 of these under your belt, Yes go do all the others, Every Tri is a Great day out.
  18. I disagree, For your first Half Ironman go do the "real Mccoy", Nothing like the organisation and Vibe at the Official 70.3, The Red carpet and Paul Kaye calling you home.... As a First timer i would personally do the EL 70.3. But I agree the Midmar, Buffelspoort etc etc are easier races and "alot" Cheaper entry fees
  19. Yep, Did my First 70.3 and Full IM this year, Both Awesome events and definately worth the entry fees. Ill be back 2013, entered already
  20. Awesome race and unbeleivable hospitality, and Well Done Nicola and Team Horn for winning the Ladies team category.... You girls are Machines.
