  1. Pleasantly surprised. After almost two years of not ordering from Crc,and also last time i did order, shipping still with Dhl,so delivery was promt, but ordered last Thursday evening, and Skynet delivered this morning, even as my location lists as remote,70km + from major centre. Skynet sent email late Saturday evening confirming Sars needs money from me,and payment was done on Monday after receiving invoice at around noon. So all in all not to shabby service....i might have just been the lucky one.
  2. Tomorrow will once again show why this race/ride is fast becoming one of the must do events each year, nevermind the free beer and live music at the end. Been doing every single Dbx event for the last three years, and fell in love with this little dorpie,so much that we,as a family, packed up our hectic city lifestyle end of last year, and settled in Darling permanently, and never looked back for one second. Weather will also be perfect, but with a chilly,as always, start. Some rain has fallen over the past 48h up until this morning, which should make for a more rideable and enjoyable route,as some trails really needed some water.
  3. Great stuff Matthew and crew. Here's to the future.
  4. All original 1988 Bridgestone RB2 in unreal condition with original tyres and bar tape,Wolber Gtx rims, and full Exage 300 Sport 6 speed gruppo. Took her for a little outing on Sunday...and brought her to her new home.
  5. Very nice indeed. But Bogus do not respray,he creates work of art....
  6. Because the Versus socks just work mighty fine, looks the part, are locally made, fits and feels so comfy, are available in race or trail versions, and was good enough for me on an Epic ride...
  7. Nice one guys!Enjoyed your write-ups each evening. Bring on 2016...? From the Darling Brew manne.
  8. Well ridden today guys.Saw you working great as a team.See you out on sufferfest in morning.Team Darling Brew.
  9. Nice writeup. Was pondering on the idea of fitting a set for a while already.Think I will give them a try.
  10. Second order placed
  11. You are a legend.Saw you just past traffic circle in Robertson towards Bonnievale. At last got a chance to show my wife and kids who Frail was.Respect.
  12. Some of the bends is a bit scary.Although a wide shoulder all the way up and down, seperated with solid yellow line, the pass is used by a lot of horse and trailer combination trucks.Sometimes they ride inside yellow lane to allow passenger vehicles to pass, and therein lies the problem, especially around blind bends. Then there is the baboons along the way, some of the males quite intimidating. I have ridden the pass on a few occasions from Ceres to Tulbagh and back, and only early on weekend mornings.Used a 29er mtb, and the climbs is very easy, but be aware of the wind on open stretch of road towards pass from Tulbagh side.I think the whole of Cape Town's wind is manufactured there.
  13. Agreed.Best to contact Jaco. The club also regularly hosts Ride the Wall session on weekends, where newcomers try the sport with experienced riders showing them the ropes. The club also have rental bikes available to use if the bug bites. But please take note!Once the bug bites, there is no turning back!
  14. Enjoyed the 65km route.Climbs were hard and tough, but not out of my comfort zone.Yes, route markings can improve,as our little group had a "stop and wonder wich way moment"coming from Koringberg.Took a few seconds to decide where to go,and luckily went right direction.Last 4 kays got stuck behind backmarkers from shorter distances, with no way to pass, until last few meters. Best part of day was passing right next to the farmhouse where we stay for the weekend at Vleidam.Lekka to greet your wife and kinds halfway through, although it was only a brief shout and wafe routine.

    Die Burger MTB 2014

I never did a Burger race before, not even Amarider.Lot of PPA rides throughout year, and landed a B seeding.....
  16. Last year we did loops as the route was changed at point 99.I ended up with almost 70km for 50km.Was fun though, but as stated, components got chowed.
  17. Aramex store to door @R99.Drop off at door next morning before 11am.
  18. Also try Janos @ Evobikes.
  19. Lyk soos lekker sonskyn vir Saterdag.Koud, maar ten minste geen reen.Komaan Saterdag!
  20. Just got a new Nissan NV200 Combi.Swallows 29er with front wheel attached, and each kid still has one seat in each row for themselves. Then still plenty space for weekend away baggage.Seats are mounted on subframes of their own, so a lot of stuff can fit under all of the seats.Amazing!
  21. Ja vryf dit in! Geweet ek gaan spyt wees as ek dit mis.
  22. Start venue has also changed from last year.Moved to town centre, from farm next to N7 if not mistaken.
  23. Always a nice ride and atmosphere.Did the ride for the last two years, but have to sit out on Saturday due to family commitments.
  24. Lubrication, lubrication, lubrication. There's always time for lubrication! Good quality chamois cream, Assos preride, and very good quality bib, chamois combo. Each day a new, clean dry bib.Only way to go.

    Argus MTB

Have to agree.Route was nice indeed, with nada bottlenecks. One or two close shaves on route with all the dust, but overall enjoyed very much, and a big improvement over previous years.
