  3. yeah its just people like you that we have to put up with on the roads as well, I am sure you are the same type of driver that was involved. you sound like a real beaut. you don't even have the facts or the details and all you do is go on about the cyclists behaviour. come mace me in the face and see how far you get getting to the police station.
  4. This is just another sad day and this has been going on too long now. I really feel for the family and his wife and kids. RIP dude, I wil rather reserve my true sentiments on this issue, but suffice it to say I dont go anywhere near tar now days..........just too dangerous. I hope the driver is arrested soon and gets what is comin to him but I somehow doubt that justice will be served. Sorry for your loss to all friends and family man, I feel terrible just reading about this.
  5. I have been on all 3. I loved my YETI 26er (full sus) and it never missed a beat. What a great ride. Then I went 29er (also full sus) like everyone else and have never crashed so much in all my riding carer, so after much deliberation I just bought a brand new 650b and what a lovely ride. Its just in that sweet spot between a 26er and a 29er, but it handles so well in the tight stuff and I easily stay with the 29ers along the long flat stretches. So I hope I have made the right choice. I am 1.80m tall and ride a large 650b and very conmfortable for all those nay sayers that say a tall'ish person cant ride a 650b? Is it really about the wheel size? I think the jury is out on that one? I just love riding and I guess they all have their pro's and con's? It isn't an exact science.
  6. I am battling to understand why there is so much negative sentiment and I may have missed something, but to me Paul S and Phil L will always be the Voices of Cycling and no one comes anywhere close. They are the epitome of all that is cycle racing and the energy and wealth of knowledge that they share can never be equalled. I will miss Paul's incredible knowledge of the sport as well as insights to each and every cyclist personally. He was a legend and lest we forget, a top cyclist and athlete in his own right. Let's focus on his amazing contribution to our sport and to all the nay sayers, I challenge you to commentate just for 1 hour one day and provide the continuity and flow that only these 2 gents could provide. RIP Paul, you were a gentleman and your voice in cycling will be remembered long. May the road rise to meet you, the sun shine warm upon your face and may the wind be always at your back...........rest in Peace friend.
  7. What an amazing person. RIP PS. I had the pleasure of meeting Paul and Phil on top of Alpe Du Huez in 1997 with my mate John. They had a few drinks with us and every time they saw us they would say "here comes the "boets"..... that will stay with me always. What a sad loss. Will be missed very much. Condolences to the Sherwin family.
  8. Modder is and always has been an amazing track. Been riding there for years and just concerned at the amount of Roads being carved through there? What's with that? it is definitely one of the safer placed to ride and is always a jol, black jacks and overgrown paths to boot. Stay safe out there.
  9. I hear you on the first part, but shoot a gook for any reason at all and you will be arrested and charged immediately. I would sign up tomorrow I am so sick of these cowards.......and where do they get the guns??? from all the guns us white people have handed in to police stations across the country for fear of being locked up for "lawful" possession. Read the Presidents Keepers, you will be shocked that 2500 firearms that were handed in at 1 police station in Joburg were sold to gangs in CTN and being used daily in violent crime. We are on a loser here unfortunately. Time to just hit the rollers in the garage. And even that isn't safe. just keep the door closed. Eish, enough man!!!
  10. We are long past the stage of cycling on our own, anywhere, any time. In fact we can't even cycle in groups either, I know, i was attacked while 3 of us were riding and other guys I know were robbed at gun point even though they were 10 -15 strong in a group. Can't beat 2 guys with guns I am afraid. We live in a sick, absolutely lawless society where violence and greed, racial tensions and poverty reign!!! The guy is lucky to be alive still and hope he recovers soon. He will be emotionally scarred for life and those sick bastards that robbed him will still do it again and again......because they f''n get away with it. Just shows how many of the f'rs are walking around armed to the teeth and we all think the Cradle is safe. It's not! time to start getting some armed ex-military guys out there to clean out the garbage. Big Ups to the dude that got out and assisted that poor cyclist. respect bud. You saved that man's life bud, a dad, a husband......what ever he is, you can be proud of what you did.
  11. Sorry i may have missed pother posts about this topic but why was there absolutely zero live tv coverage or otherwise of this event??
  12. Jis now that was such a lekker read and those pictures are just beautiful. We have so much to offer in this country and just take a chance on a road less traveled. Jis I am up for this type of riding. Done road, MTB, and now this looks just so lekker!! thanks for those amazing pics just so beautifully done. I am helping Alex Harris out with the Munga again this year and there is some awesome gravel riding there as well. Bloem to Wellington in the Cape, 1094ks unassisted, finishing over the Bainskloof Pass.....check it out.....the Munga. Some absolutely beautiful sights along that route as well. Thanks for sharing this ride dudes well done...
  13. #everyone knows where you've BEAN.....VERSUS socks, bean around for ever #Bean there, done that, got the sox to prove it! #asking a prostitute who made her pregnant is like asking which BEAN on your socks made you fart??? dont make a lotta sense but damn they are cool #Cool Beans? Nah, just cool socks! #1 a bean 2 a bean 3 a bean four, while checkin out my funky socks, wham i hit the floor!
  14. Wow, that's quite coincidental. I was running RR Snakeskins back and front and have got tired of losing the front end and crashing....they are just useless for cornering (29er). I have just put on a set o less known ONDA's and IBEX 2.25 on the front and a CANNIS on the back 2.25 and man what a different ride. much better grip so I can really recommend the OPNZA tyres. I did my first ride on them yesterday and beat the RR hands down.....a bit heavy though
  15. I like the Snakeskins but they are K%^%^K to corner with?? or am I just not talented enough to always correct the front end washing out?
  16. It's a numbers game......26s ......27s.....etc. Once you have a number you are in for life!!!
  17. I ride at Modder all the time. You cannot believe how the litter is just starting to pile up there too......c'mon people FFS, how difficult can it be to just put your crap in your back pocket until you get back home. Jeez man, unreal!!! I do also know that a lot of the waste is also from the workers in the park, unless some cyclists have taken to carrying 5l Valpre bottles and sweet chilli Doritos .....large packets on rides???
  18. I think you need to rob someone of something that doesn't belong to you............use them for land fill
  19. I don't want to rant. I just want to know if the Suikerbosrand reserve is still closed to cyclists?? Does anyone know??
  20. So the saying "ride it like you stole it".............didn't quite work out for this chop!! hahahaah lekker boyce.....awwraait.......well done on chasing down the crack head.....the problem is some idiot out there will buy this for R500,00 instead of getting him arrested for being in possession of a R50K bicycle. you are an accessory if you buy a hot bike. Glad you guys sorted him out, he still looks fresh though, a few more klaps would have been welcome!!!
  21. I think Phil Liggett is an absolute LEGEND and will always be the Voice o cycling. He is pleasant, knows his stuff and always modest and always has a good word for every cyclist. Paul on the other hand is a bit of an "I"surgeon".... I did this I did that I I I I....... jeez who remembers that annoying DUFUS Paddy Agnew that used to commentate on the Giro years ago. I am Irish myself but hell his voice and stupid anecdotes killed me!!!!! and rollin alog now, rollin alon......in da poolaton!!!! jeez. Now that Auzzie dude is very good as well!!! I like his pleasant disposition and he is also very knowledgeable......
  22. Where can I just buy this kit??
  23. I had a C50!!! Best bike I have ever been on, and I have been on many!!! Sold it for a song but serious regrets still to this day!!
  24. Use your Campag cassette on your SRAM!! Best thing I ever did (albeit by mistake).....my SRAM cassette was loud, jumpy and never seated properly. I just put on my other wheels with a campag cassette on it and it worked better than the SRAM ever did!! Try it!!
