  1. Specialized have some EXCELLENT deals on at the moment. Have a look at their website, it's by far the easiest way to get a decent frame that you can upgrade down the line. https://www.specialized.com/za/en/mens-pitch-expert/p/154417?color=239754-154417 https://www.specialized.com/za/en/mens-pitch-comp/p/154412?color=236359-154412 https://www.specialized.com/za/en/mens-pitch-expert-650b/p/134023?color=239945-134023
  2. Eish. I'm 1.8 and I'd never have considered a medium... Reach & ETT just too short. But, that's me. If it fits you, and you like it, then ride it.
  3. But... there's a very good scientific reason to wear one that adequately reduces the speed & trajectory of exhalations, which in turn reduces the chance of spread. Doesn't remove it entirely, obviously, but it reduces it significantly if it's an adequate mask.
  4. The chain's wear results in it stretching its overall length. Therefore, a worn chain can be said to have been stretched, and vice versa. They are both acceptable adjectives to describe a change in the chain's length and life cycle.
  5. It's a sad indictment that you even needed to type this out, Rig.
  6. That's not weird at all. You have to test it. It's written down somewhere, in a crusty old tome called "standard initial operations of new implements" or something. Like a tent in the back garden / lounge / garage. You have to check to see if it all works out properly, and leave the tent poles at home at least once in its life. EDIT: Preferably within 30 min of leaving home, most likely when you're 30 min away from the destination and you've already travelled for 5 hours.
  7. well, it's still going well. 94.2 this morning. Ramping up my IDT use from tomorrow, I've had to give it a break because I ended up hating it after a while. That marks 7kg since Jan. A FAR better start to the year than previous years.
  8. And why the hell not. Same as Kimi. If they still enjoy racing, why the hell not. They're still faster than half the field on a bad day.
  9. Oh, they do. Fraudulent claims all over the place, D. It's a mega problem. But that's why there's the records that each insurer sends to the central body. For things like this to catch non-disclosure, fraud etc.
  10. Cameras are the same. New Replacement Cost. So yeah, it's on the personal effects side of things, not the motorised transport side of things.
  11. You're wrong. Bikes and other equipment, except for cars (and I think boats and maybe planes) are insured against their new replacement cost. That's SOP for short term insurance, and why companies have marketing drives to ensure you're properly insured for the item's replacement value. If your bike, tools, jewellery etc are stolen, insurers ask for a replacement quote from your LBS for the new / equivalent of the stolen model. You can CHOOSE to insure your bike for a % of its new replacement cost, but some insurers will "average" your claim and you'll only get a percentage of the underlying cost of the things that break, which is calculated on a ratio of insured value:replacement value. This means that the only time you'll get paid out in full (again, with certain insurers) is if there's a total loss. Cars (as said above) operate on a different model.
  12. 100%. 10 - 15 minute breaks every couple hours to ease the spreadsheeting and adminning and projections etc etc. Amazing how much that helps.
  13. I'm not entirely sure (not my area of expertise) but I've had a few claims in recent times and only one assessor come out to see me / interview me. That was when I got bumped off my old Giant in Pinelands, 5 or so years ago. I've had cell phone, motor & ipad claims since then, but for things like broken screens and water damage (kids like to experiment with things, who'd have known that throwing a phone off the 4th floor would be one of those experiments) With those other claims, no assessor came to me, but they're backed up with damage reports and with motor claims they send an assessor round to the panel beaters. When they did send an assessor round (for the giant) they went into quite a bit of detail (felt like an interrogation) tracked my cell phone (to determine if I was where I said I was) and so on. I have no doubt that this sort of thing is SOP nowadays.
  14. I know I shouldn't be laughing, but I am. Loud, and hard. Fkers like this are why our premiums are so high, and why I'm likely to get a grilling by the assessor that's going to be coming to see me next week after my garage got broken into and 50k plus of tools, kids bikes and sound system got swiped. Luckily they left some of the carry cases behind, but as I've inherited a shedload of tools that DIDN'T have carry-cases, that side of things is gonna be difficult to prove ownership.
  15. Shouldn't affect it at all. Med aid won't be affected one jot, that's for certain. Vehicle insurance afaik shouldn't either, but I can't say for certain on that side.
  16. It's all good, man. ???????????????? And likewise Agreed on the last bit, too.
  17. Okay, so COCT is a single District municipality, and the cop was acting outside of the guidelines. Cool. I was wrong. Amended my posts accordingly. She should be able to get it squashed.
  18. I *think* it may have been one of those tweets I've decided not to pay attention to until the official word is out.... I was just amused at the indignation in Robbie's post. She took a chance, she got caught. EDIT: COCT is a single district. Therefore she was within her rights, in terms of the regulations.
