  1. Fanks!!! We were on My Roots (right at the bottom) all day. Was hard graft, but worth every drop of sweat!!!
  2. Sorry dude. I've been dealing with clients who think that Christmas break and school holidays translate into free license to cancel meetings at the last minute. So I'm afraid my sarcasm meter is WAY down the heirarchy rankings at the moment!!!
  3. OMFS. It's country specific. And sector specific. If they don't have TM here, nothing they can do.
  4. Yeah. But yet again. Is FOX and that logo registered as a trademark within South Africa? If not, then there's no problem. Also, it's in a completely different business sector. Bike names and wheel names are in the same sector - bicycles and parts related to them.
  5. In short - yes. The fork on the Splash 1 is an Air fork - far better than the elastomer POS on the Splash 2. It will give you a better ride, is lighter and more efficient. The Deore RD on the 1 will also be far more durable than the Altus on the 2 (as in, leagues better - will shift better, hold it's adjustments better and will just be plan BETTER over time - its tolerances are far lower than the Altus level derailleur) Wheels on Spash 1 will also be stronger as a result of the eyelets (reinforces the nipple recesses in the rim) better brakes (at this level any improvement is a good thing) better shifters FAR better crank. The one on the 2 is a bottom of the range stamped steel crank. If you need to replace a chainring, or if one of the teeth snap off, you ave to replace the whole crank. It's a single piece design which is not built for longevity. The one on the Splash 1 is an Octalink design, which, as well as allowing you to change out individual chainrings when they are worn, is far stronger than the one on the 2. so - yes!
  6. That's me automatically out. Max rider weight of 75kg?! Pfft.
  7. Already did. Out of pure exhaustion. Fark was that a workout!
  8. It is already. Only supported by giant (contact stem) and one or 2 others with next to buggerall choice of stem length
  9. Did that to Jerome the other day. He forgot to actuate the manual saddle drip technique. I rode past him. Schnick. Descend. Laugh. His response? Yeah, Mayhew, I know. Just one press away, Fxxx you! Laughter continued unabated.
  10. Lol. You know me. I rag you but I back you up no matter what. Even if your ish cramps my style...
  11. @ willem - BOOM! THIS THREAD RESURFACES AFTER 18 MONTHS! BOOM!
  12. Ah yes. Your edited post says it all... Some forks (rs) aren't od2. And for those frames, that are built with a normal top headset, you don't have that compatibility problem. It's still a problem though, cos it's a mostly unsupported standard that could cuckold ant future purchase and sale of bits on a giant.
  13. Nope, craig, it unfortunately is 100% true. You HAVE to buy a giant branded or compatible stem on their od2 standard frames unless you have a normal off the shelf fork in there with a non od2 headset. It is a proprietary size, and my mate with a trance X2 (2013) has expressed his endless frustration at only being able to get a few short stems unless he changes his fork and headset.
  14. Unless of course, you just bite the bullet and get the frame combo and build it up over time. No more wife is a good thing in some respects, innit?
  15. Mark - just a heads up. No way you'll get a full santa build for less than 30k unfortunately. Their frame and shock alone comes to more than 20k. Then there's the fork et al. Unless you port parts over.. even then it'll be a stretch.
  16. I can confirm that there are only 2 words to describe mega's bike and the paint finish. F×××××× hot!!!
  17. Also on technical climbs. Let's you grunt the bike around a bit more than when the saddle is right up your arse. Even just a 1" drop on some areas is enough to allow you to get into a better position.
  18. Oh and that table and drop just before it (as well as the stumps, damn them!) Took its toll in sweat!
  19. Just hope the rather obvious closure of the trail was adhered to! Otherwise it could be a case of patching up those changes we just did thanks to a few ungrateful and ignorant bastardos!
  20. Cap - What a bike! That thing's a cruise missile! Mate of mine was on the FOCUS team for a while. Still is, afaik. And those bikes are AWESOME. Light as feck and super stiff. Beautiful choice, mate. But that begs the question - why is this the first I hear of it!?
