  1. WAHAHAHAHAAAAAA! That's a good one. Please, tell us another! Oh, no mr distributor. Your bike broke but we sliced through the seatstay to install a belt drive. So you're still liable... No chance of a warranty claim on that one.
  2. Those Infernos are DAMN nice. Epic Bike Shop built up a set on some CK's as well, for one of their clients. Damn. They had to clean their bench after I left!
  3. AFAIK scuzz, that's EXACTLY what they've been trying to do. Repeatedly. With no joy at all. Hence voicing it here as a last resort. EDIT: And I hardly think it's a case of people complaining just because they're jealous of the trails. It's MEMBERS complaining. That means they ride the trails. As to how to avoid complaints - you cannot avoid them. But neither can you brush them under the carpet and delete all correspondence not to your liking. That will incite a backlash of epic proportions, and lead the members to where they are now - trying a non-official public forum platform in order to get their attention after all other attempts have failed.
  4. Yissie. Now that's a prize example of engineering based darwin awards. WTF were they thinking!?
  5. Hahahaha... Yeah, I suppose I *should* know better, but heck. It really grates my carrot sometimes. Logic is not bought, although it should actually become a commodity it's in such short supply. Same with common sense. Sheesh. Don't get me started! Aaaaaanyway. Posers will be posers. And I penned a line the other day at the Tokai trail build. The okes that bitch about the status of the trails all the time, yet do nothing to help and provide no input as to what they want in the trail, yet always have an opinion on how a feature is wrong? Yeah. They're Bitchers. Not Pitchers.
  6. I said it numerous times in this thread. But people just don't seem to GET it. "Depends on Market Feedback" means that they MAY get rid fo the niners if it is proven that the market prefers 275 to the niner trend. If the niner trend continues in a particular bike (XTC for example) then that bike stays niner. If the rest start to favour 275 then they will phase out niners inthat model. If it's pretty equal, well then both stay. It's not rocket science. Just logic. And common frikkin sense. But people (MANY on here as well as PinkBike) seem not to have any of that in their heads. Like their parents picked them from the Factory Defect aisle in their local Kwik-e-Mart FFS. All that has to happen is for them to READ the article. Not form an opinion based on the opening sentence. /Rant off.
  7. Yeah. Contract infringement, really. They're using his design. He wants to be paid accordingly. He was being paid, but not any more, afaik.
  8. And as for who, your accountant / business lawyer should know a few people. They generally move in the same circles.
  9. Any marriage lawyer worth their salt. But it does take a while to do it.
  10. You can convert to ANC. I think it costs about 20k or so, so it's not cheap but in the grand scheme of things it may be worth it. Especially considering the downside would be FAR more than 20k. Not to mention the difference Ito the time it takes to wind things up.
  11. Hope you don't mean it's safer to marry in COP vs ANC. Cos if you do, then you couldn't be more wrong. In COP all assets are shared 100%. So if a business fails or incurs massive debt for which the members are liable, the creditors can come after the spouse as well. Safest way to marry for a business person is with an ante-nuptial contract (ANC) as there the assets stay separate in their entirety.
  12. Not really Antoo. Simple arithmetic really. In excess of 2,000 active paying members at more than R500 per year and bam. There's your magic 1 bar that you claim to be sensationalist. That's excluding sponsorship (which does count as income) From what I've seen and heard before, I'm surprised this hadn't surfaced earlier.
  13. Thing is, Tumbles - the frame HAS been replaced. There are just ancillary items which need to be purchased in order for his old parts to fit the new frame. So - in terms of the CPA, the distributor has done all it needs to do. Accessories which no longer fit would not be covered... But in terms of Customer Service practice, they should be...
  14. Dude, in the current environment anything better than prime minus 0.5% is a helluva good rate.
  15. Whatever happened to the Reasonable Man test when deciding things like this? Seems it was replaced by the "let's fleece 'em for all they have" technique
  16. Yeah Fands, but 110% - not a chance, buddy. Unless you've got substantial assets to back it up, no way a bank is going to grant a 110% bond in today's financial climate.
  17. True to an extent - however remember that the car dealerships themselves are extensions of the brand, and have strict supplier agreements. All warranty costs & servicing are billed to "VWSA" or "SAMCOR" etc, whereas the LBS's are just authorized resellers.. If the warranty holders (Giant / SPez etc) were to refund the LBS the cost of labour and parts needed to rebuild the bike, then yeah that would be perfect. But methinks that would be like asking a cock to lay an egg.
  18. Taking it further though, Grumps - if anyone else but an authorized VW dealer / mech worked on a VW (or any car, for that matter) during warranty period, the warranty would become void. So essentially they're bound by their own warranty conditions and are forced to give it back in driving condition. With the bike frame, it just has to be assembled by the dealer. Nothing about replacing parts / taking parts across. But I do agree with the sentiment of replacing everything necessary for a new build. Just instituting a checklist for the LBS to fill out on a warranty replacement. Things like Fork standard: Reducer needed: Yes / No BB92 Shell needed: yes / no BB30 Shell needed yes / no And so on. That way there's no problem with compatability when the new frame arrives, as it ships with all teh adapters needed for the rebuild. Just a small thing that would have a drastic effect on how the distributors are viewed.
  19. yeah, 10 years ago. I'd love to see a 110% bond on a FTB right now...
  20. I'd go 26, personally. Then all you need to do to upgrade is buy a new frame every 3 to 6 years!
